>>567738 More info about TTC: The Great Courses is the brand applied by The Teaching Company, a Chantilly, Virginia company, to its recordings of lectures by university professors and high-school teachers. It sells the courses in CD, MP3, DVD, and MPEG-4 download and streaming formats.
As of 2013 TTC offers more than 450 courses, which span more than 10,000 hours of content across several subject categories: business and economics, fine arts, music, ancient and medieval history, modern history, literature and English language, philosophy and intellectual history, religion, science, mathematics, social sciences, and better living.
Course offerings are targeted to adult education and life-learners; there is also a series for high school students. Courses are not verbatim recordings of college lectures, but rather are developed by The Teaching Company in conjunction with the professor to fit the chosen medium. Video versions of courses include graphics and green screen effects. Courses also include supplemental booklets with outlines of the individual lectures, recommended reading lists, general bibliographies, and questions to consider. Full printed transcripts are also available.
>>567738 Was this originally on tpb? TTC does a bangup job keeping an eye on their digital material and I've heard from comments on several lectures available online that people have run into trouble after downloading these.
>>567752 Yes it was from tpb, and about the problems, to not having learning material is already a problem, a big one. I wished than intellectual appropriation be erased, is the responsible of and cultural and technological stagnation, always. Not to mention the responsible for the gap between rich and poor.
It's unfortunate, but TTC does a really good job presenting the material, and for them quality ought to come with a price. Torrenting can obviously be a form of protest against that, it can simply be a method of obtaining the information, or maybe both. Idk, I'm just trying to let people know what i've heard.
>>567759 >isp ISP? I ain't afraid of isp. Who do you take me for? Where do you think I was born? What am I gonna run around like some teeny bopper somewhere for someone elses money? I make the money man, I roll the nickels. The game is mine.
Why not just get access to private Elearning trackers? Also TTC is good but most of their courses are just useless information that wont get you anywhere in the real world. But knowledge is power I guess so here are some popular search terms to use on usenet/torrent sites/warez sites.

whats the link to the archive of this? i got to check the contents of this thread when i get home and have an access to my computer. its not going to be until tomorrow morning most likely. i will probably need an archive
can someone help me keep this thread bumped for the next week or so? i want to download almost all of the videos but i cant download 100 gbs of shit without going over the bandwidth so i have to wait until im back in school.
>>583847 i wanted to keep this thread bumped so that if i ever have questions while im watching the videos id ask op. then i realized that this thread is over half of a year old. my guess is that the guys who posted the magnet links are no longer monitoring this thread so the bumping would be pointless. also now that i know how old the posts are im not even sure if i will be able to find seeders even after i return to school.

>>569982 >>570047 you guys realize that there are things like Codeacademy.org, MIT OpenCourseWare, UDACITY, and motherfucking coursera. also that these books can be found everywhere, especially in "the" library >>570574 first off this^
>>585102 Yes, but I still prefer having it as a torrent. Khanacademy is an example: the downloads there have random filenames. I started making a torrent from the calculus videos with proper filenames. And yes, it takes time to download, renaming all the 385 videos they have now in that section. I'm sure that there will be more than 1 downloader when i post it here.
Stanford's youtube channel usually have subtitles, but with awful timings. And not just like +1 sec everywhere, so you have to fix them by hand.
Some of the old MIT's OpenCourseWare videos suffer from audio noise...
Udacity have payed courses too, some of them are terrible, some of them are awesome. These torrents make sure you dont throw hundreds of dollars out of the window.
TTC courses: I have to enlighten you, but not every library have them outside the US. Not to mension that DVD readers are usually slow, bulky, loud, and you dont have it in your phone.
theRAWRRRbay is one of the best libraries in the world, and thank you all for contributing!
>>585256 Well, half a year ago i tried all the web rippers I have found through the internet. The only useful ones were httrack and Visual Web Ripper. Tip: Visual Web Ripper uses Internet Explorer, so if you log-in with IE, you can start ripping with VWR, you dont have to learn the login procedure.
And if nothing works, not even the Firefox Downloadhelper plugin, you can try the Opera browser version (12.16 or earlier, downloadable from ftp.opera.com), search in the cache and save it from there.
>>586051 these arent free. well, they are not supposed to be anyways. also lectures are a preference. many different ways to deliver information. some you will like some you wont. you need to try them and see for yourself whether or not it matches your preferred learning style.
>>567738 So i've been working through this (i have to do an advanced maths text for a job i'm applying for and i never attempted senior math at school) and it's great information, but where are the answers for the workbook? it shows the problems for each lession, but no answer sheet to check the answers?

This is going to help tons. I have not done any math since 2010 and decided I wanted to get into community college this spring term. I did terrible on the placement test. I was also a bit late for classes and only crappy ones were left. Will study these to get a better score on the placement test on fall term.

>>569990 Actually Khan Academy has changed quite a bit. If you go to the website - not the YouTube channel, but khanacademy.com - go to the math section and make an account, you can take a quick assessment, and the site will automatically set up a course for whatever sort of math you want to study, that's tailored to you. It's gotten a lot better.
But you're right - it's probably best to use both.

If you think that anybody has a right to commercialize and profit by withholding knowledge and learning materials from free public use, you are what is wrong with the world. How can you even rationalize this to yourself? Some company spends a very minimal amount of time and resources to make a video recording of a teacher or professor, and just because this otherwise free information was recorded onto a digital medium people should have to pay just to view it? All education should be free to anyone who seeks to learn and improve their lives, maybe that way there would be a few less ignorant fucks like you.
>>605708 Wow, you're retarded. If you want free knowledge, go to your local public library. If you want somebody to spend their time and effort teaching that knowledge to you, then expect to compensate them. Cool your entitlement down a notch, kid.
