Look I was cognizant of where the fight was being held and who was behind each fighter. I watched it closely, and although in my heart Golovkin did win, I made sure to give every round that could be considered "close" to Canelo and ended up with a draw. In a sense I'm pretty okay with the result, and excited about a rematch as long as it doesn't take place in Vegas (one of the most fan-unfriendly places to hold a fight)

In pro boxing, damage dealt is more important than clean punches landed, so if Fighter A lands one punch with 100% force and Fighter B lands three punches with 50% force each, Fighter B wins the exchange despite his half blocked punches being less eye-catching than Fighter A's clean punch
>>
>>78327852
>le running away
Canelo ran circles around him and boxed his face off which is what you're supposed to do with a stronger opponent. He also neutralized most G's punches with his GREAT defence. I had Canelo win the first 4 and last 3 rounds
>>
>>78328005
GGG dealt more damage
canelo landed a handful of big flashy punches but not nearly enough

>>
>>78328005
Sounds good and reasonable - in theory

Would judging be better if they averaged out the three judges scores in each round rather than just counting up the three totals at the end? In this case it would have been 7-5 for GGG and the horrendous Byrd card would have been overruled by the other two

I dont know what fight you cucks watched but Canelo won that match. I gave him the slight margin for the win since he was connecting shots and was slipping most of Golovkin's hard shots.

There were points in the fight where Golovkin was hitting air, while Canelo was countering beautifully. There were parts were Golovkin was gaining momentum but Canelo out boxed him.

This was crisp boxing vs brawler-boxer. Most casuals only saw all the punches GGG threw but most didnt land at anything significant.

>>78328133
That would just average out to a Canelo win smart guy.

Moretti had it 113-115 (7-5), Trella had it 114-114 (6-6), and Byrd had it 118-110 (2-10).
Average them out and you get 115-113 (7-5) in favor of Canelo -- in other words it gives WAY too much power to the outlier judge in every case. Even if Trella gave one more round to Golovkin, it would still average out to a Canelo win.

I think the decision we got was fair enough, and changing the system to that would mean terrible judges like Byrd affect the system more than they should have.
Golovkin fans are pretending like because there was one bad score card that the decision is null and void, but I think Canelo edged it out.

Because 118-110 dictated the decision. Had she had a more realistic card, even if it had Canelo still winning, it's a draw or slight edge out for GGG.

I just rewatched it. I thought GGG won handily the first time, but it seemed more even on the second close watch where I could pause.

Canelo gets the better hits, but he hits almost 30% less and is only very slightly more accurate (31% vs 33%).

While Canelo had the bigger shots, they also didn't seem to hurt GGG much. Canelo was actually the one who seemed more hurt.

I don't know how you call it for Canelo still in many of those 10-2 rounds on the deciding card. Seems fucking ridiculous.

This is the problem with boxing. People score on slips. Slips are to avoid damage and set up counters.

A good slip looks nice, but if it doesn't result in you landing more or better punches in the fight, it doesn't matter.

GGG was basically as accurate as Canelo and Canelo failed to slip 218 times. When he did get good hits in, GGG took them better than Canelo took GGGs. No way it's Canelo's fight.

Anons, help me out.

I bet a friend of a friend $100 that GGG wins, even odds.

Ended up using the cash during the fights buying drinks, so I told him I'd pay him later...

But, do I really have to pay out on a fight Canelo didn't win. If Byrd had just had Canelo winning an at least slightly plausible 2 more rounds, we'd be fine, but I am losing because she scored 10-2 which is fucking ridiculous.

I don't have to pretend anything, average out the scorecards and you get a Canelo win.
Better luck on the rematch, Golovkin will probably need a walking cane and prescription glasses by then.

I explained it badly. If two judges give a round to Fighter A and the other to Fighter B, then it would be a 2-1 round win for Fighter A. With this method, GGG wins 7-5 and the crazy rounds that Byrd gave to Canelo but the other two gave to GGG would be overruled

Not a chance, they didn't even overturn Pacquiao-Marquez 1 where the judge that scored it a draw only subtracted points for 2 knockdowns in round 1 instead of 3 -- and that was just an objectively judging error.
Meanwhile this had a bad scorecard, but can be argued in favor of Canelo regardless, so certainly not the worst decision ever.
>>
>>78329416

My vote is for incompetence. If it was simple corruption, she would've called it 115-114 or some shit. That bitch needs to be fired. Even the most inattentive and uninformed judge could tell you that GGG dominated that fight.

Anyhow, Canelo wasn't killing it on defense. GGG landed almost the same percentage of punches thrown and landed 48 more total...

How does he win on defense when he gets hit more, with basically the same rate of getting hit?

>>78330545

Definitely incompetence.
Byrd is not an inconsistent judge, it's just that it's problematic because she has one scoring criteria. She scored Hopkins over Calzaghe, Brook over Porter, Spence over Brook, and Khan over Canelo and now Canelo over Golovkin.

The one common denominator there?
Crisp clean punching.

She ignores any rougher work and always goes for that fighter that looks sharper with their punches. Sometimes this is the right call, other times, not so much, but it's a problem when that's your ONLY scoring criteria.

I rewatched the fight, just like how some of you have. I ended up scoring it 115 to 113, exactly as Blue Judge did actually.

That basically means 7 rounds for GGG to 5 rounds for Canelo. While GGG was consistently strong throughout, Canelo had these momentary bursts that IMHO did put him over in the early and late rounds. I felt GGG clearly dominated the middle of the fight, for sure.

But the point is just a difference in opinion in 1 round in favour of Canelo really could have justified a draw. Then I looked at the Pink Judge's card.

>Round 7 for Canelo

Even the crazy White Judge, who's clearly taking bribes or was threatened by the mob or something, who gave Canelo the insane 118 score, even she scored Round 7 for GGG.

Seriously, this is an insane scorecard.

Why do boxers have such shit conditioning??

I get macgoober wasnt a true boxer, but he did boxer training for a year and looked more gassed than he ever had in an MMA fight, and Canelo (who has been a boxer since 16) looked exactly the same....

Every fight I have ever seen the enitre last 3rd of the fight the guys look like they can barely keep their hands up, its the equivalent of an NFL team jogging half speed through all the plays in the 4th because theyre too tired. I think they fight too many soft touches and don't get used to going the distance. You have to sacrifice a lot of strength and technique training time to get your conditioning right, so if Canelo had a better gas tank it might come at the expense of some of his skills and strength and maybe he doesn't feel the trade-off is worth it
>>
>>78331082

>>78331594
I know this is bait but
>t. never even stepped into a ring let alone sparred anyone

>>
>>78327252
>getting walked down
Confirmed for not knowing shit about boxing. He didn't "walk down" a fucking thing. He was chasing Canelo all night. He never forced Saul to the ropes and he didn't even attempt to cut off the ring and trap him in the corner. Canelo volunteered to fight off the ropes and hit Golovkin with sharp, hard counters. As soon as he wanted to disengage he would simply pivot and walk backwards to another corner and GGG had no answer for this.
Golovkin has no inside fighting game and his body punching is suspect. He has a blind spot for uppercuts and can't do simple stuff like CUT OFF THE RING. He at least knew that Canelo was setting traps for him off the ropes but didn't have the courage to dig to the body and take his legs away for fear that he'd eat a counter that he wouldn't be ready for. He was obsessed with head hunting against a guy who could actually handle his power and fire back with his own power shots. He gave Canelo way too much respect and put it in the judges hands. He fought to not lose and in the end he didn't win.
>>

>>
>>78331594
Swinging a punch is hardwork. Doing it 300 times and walking around and changing positioning is also tough. I agree that after round 6 he was gassed and i wonder why boxers never prepare for this by training or mailing in the first 3 rounds
>>
>>78328435
I had Lara winning that fight but whatever.
>>
>>78331762
you've never played sports in your life. If you think a basketball player is putting half the effort in as a boxer is during a round you're delusional. Basketball is played in spurts, they're not playing 100% every play. This is especially true for defense.
>>
>>78331679
he definitely can cut off the ring we've seen him do it many times

he didn't go to the body against canelo because he's too slow IMO, he was quite gun shy this fight

I think golovkin got a big shock in the first round by how powerful canelo is and somewhat shelled up
>>

He looked just as gassed as he did in the Diaz fights, that's the only reason the Mayweather fight even happened. Floyd did his homework and knew Conor couldn't get away from him the way he did in the middle of Diaz II when he was trying to rest.
>>
>>78331862

6 ignoring the scorecard it was an enjoyable fight but only caught fire in brief moments
>>
>>78332276
So did I. But GGG definitely beat Canelo
>>
>>78327754
This was how i scored it. Obviously the adelaide byrd card was retarded. I dont believe it was a crooked card because a crooked card would have at least try to appear close. This was a judge who was mesmerized by canelo flahy shots and effectively dodging most of ggg offence.

I was watching the box nation stream and i thought they were giving ggg too much credit in that they said his work was effective at hurting canelo and saying canelos punches were not hurting gg. I dont think either fighter hurt the other. A draw to me was a fair result.

The fans wanted the fight to be a action packed fight and they blame canelo for basicaly boxing ggg for the entire 12 rds. This explains the booing.

I want to see the rematch. If canelo can up his work rate i think he could win convincingly. He had multiple opportunities to counter ggg but decided to keep his hands in a defensive posture.

This is actually WWE logic. All we're missing is a steel chair and someone distracting the ref.

Golovkin was swinging at air and just tapping with Canelo jabs for easy points. Canelo landed more flush shots, more power shots and more body shots.

>muh body shots
>muh Canelo hit a good punch every 20 seconds

Meanwhile Canelo gets dome rocked the whole fight. GGG didn't go for body shots because he knew it would set him up for Canelo to get in a powerful counterpunch. He didn't fall for it and canelo's eyes at the end of the fight belong to a chinesemen

Only spics think Canelo won that fight
>>
>>78335863

Are the officials at the commission getting paid off by Vegas or just plain retarded? I would guess a combination of both, with more weight to the former, but I don't know much about it.
>>
Boxing is worse than WWE. So many horrible decisions this year just to set up rematches.

What fights?
>>
>>78336874

>>
Hi everyone I score this fight 118-110 for Las Vegas, bookies and Golden Boy. Anyone have an opinion? Cool, you can fuck right off (and thanks for your coming PPV money btw).
>>
>>78336919
That's one. And it's different to this because the judges got fooled by the blood and sound effects it wasn't corrupt just a wrong decision and then Sor Rungvisai won the rematch in style
>>
sor rungvisai win was nothing on this
>>
>>78336919

I think that was a genuinely even fight, Pac-Horn was worse
>>
What does a draw mean in terms of "most middleweight title defenses"?
>>
>>78337469
Pac-Horn rematch is off though
>>
Casual here - can somebody explain the rematch clause to me? Does it mean that their next fight has to be the rematch, or is it just until one of the fighters demands it, meaning they can have other fights in the meantime?
>>
>>78337478
A draw is still a title defense from what I understand. While he didn't win, he also didn't lose the title, therefore he defended it.
>>
>>78337621
Retained it, right?
>>
>>78337574
If Canelo wants a rematch then Golovkin has to fight him next, they won't let Golovkin fight Saunders in the mean time
>>
>>78337772
And if he doesn't ask for it right away, could GGG fight Saunders, or does his next opponent have to be Canelo no matter what?
>>
>>78337771
I guess so. I'm pretty casual, but that's how I understand it

Joshua would knock out that Croatian doorman in 2 rounds
>>
>>78337812
They won't allow him to fight someone else because it reduces the value of the rematch, Canelo will activate the rematch clause and they'll probably wait until May to do it
>>
Why are spics such cheats? Is it just ingrained in their culture?

I had Pacquiao winning 115-113 but a draw would of been acceptable. ESPN made that worse by making out it was a massive robbery. Chocolatito landed far more punches in the first fight and Sor Rungvisai faded down the stretch. Choc won but nobody is fixing a superfly weight fight it was just a different interpretation influenced by blood and punches that weren't landing clean
