Cold as fuck in the winter (goes down to -40 sometimes, which is the same in celsius as fahrenheit). Great, friendly people though. Very affordable cost of living, which is why it's a city of losers and part timers. But along with that you get the fact that Winnipeg is noticably full of what you might call "working class folks." A friend of mine from Calgary once asked me why everyone in Winnipeg dresses like they just got off a train.

But for a city it's nice, because it's got big city amenities without having a lot of big city problems. It's very spread out and sparsely populated, so there's no smog, for example. On the other hand, there are no freeways so it takes like a good 40 minutes to drive from one side of the city to the other.

I personally love Winnipeg and I think it's a great place to live, even though I don't live there anymore.

Not my photo but it gives you an idea how great the city can look in the winter. Lots of trees, lots of hoar frost.
