What are some graduate-level fields other than math which use rigorous proofs? I know of statistics, economics, and physics. Is there anything else?

philosophy

Anon... Philosophy is literally religion but with even more spooks.

I know there is a lot of convergence in research at the most abstract levels of philosophy/math/CS/econ, but I assumed the average philosophy graduate student is just doing heavily qualitative research or basically just reviewing old literature.

I took a few philosophy classes for electives. There are proofs, but they're all babby level logic. e.g.,
If a person kills, then they are bad.
Ahmad killed someone.
Therefore, Ahmad is bad.
People argue by trying to show certain propositions are false. In the example, they would try to show that the first conditional statement is false to show that Ahmad is not bad. Stupid shit like that.

tell me whats this modal logic they got going on in philosophy about? did godel really prove the existence of god with it and therefore bullshit?
>>7644426
it appears to me that pure logic is done in philosophy. the one with all the set notation and stuff. i don't know what that is.

You know about popsci? You know how horrible it is? Well that's pop philosophy. Nobody takes it seriously.

which part, the modal logic part or the proof of god stuff?
My master's thesis in chem had a few formal proofs of the convergence and correctness of new algorithms. I also wrote an astro paper in which I showed the correctness of and set limits on a new algorithm for modelling certain processes (not my algorithm, but there was some dispute about it), and a chem paper in which I showed why another method could not be applied in any reasonable circumstance.

Analytic philosophy is what it's called dumbshits.
Philosophy, physics, math, cs, econ and I think one or two others rank in the top tiers of IQ levels and GRE scores for grad students.
Only the most intelligent students take phil, surprisingly this is true even when we don't filter for analytic philosophy.
It seems even the qual folks have a certain amount of aptitude.
