How many hours of sleep is optimal?
I used to sleep 8 hours a night and would always get tired after being awake for 16 hours.
Once I started setting my alarm for 6 hours now I do not get tired until being awake for 18 hours.
I do not feel different throughout the day aside from getting up in the morning.
Has anyone else noticed anything similar? Is there a name for this effect? Any relevant studies or wikipedia articles?
it's called hypomania
you're on your way to a psychotic break senpai

6 hours of sleep = psychotic break?
Or are you trying to bully me for something else I said?
There is something which some studies agree on but in absolute sense it actually feels good to most of adults.
Sleep 6 -8 hours then mandatory sleep 1 - 2 hours at afternoon... I don't do that anymore.. I have too much free time and I tend to either don't sleep or sleep too much,..but when I'm working or in education I do exactly what I wrote above and quality of life skyrockets.

How are you able to fall asleep in the middle of the day without being severely sleep deprived?
>>7639185
By "middle of the day" I meant "middle of your awake cycle", not really the time of day.

Should I really try having 1-hour naps every single day to reduce fatigue?
I really want to maximize my alertness because fatigue is the biggest impairing factor in my life.
How long does it take for exercising regularly to increase overall alertness? (Jogging/running and light weightlifting) It feels like having to go through quite a period of just increased fatigue and weariness due to physical exercise.

Bump
I just want to feel awake.
on 29 hours straight, just sleep when your tired , also exercise increases the quality of sleep.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mania
I remember one my back hurt and I had trouble falling asleep properly all night. I am pretty sure I have slept for short periods throughout the night, but I clearly remember being "awake" for most of it.
Then in the morning I woke up and was full of energy like never before. Didn't feel drowsy at all, I straight up jumped from bed and felt really energized. It was a good day. But how did it happen? I barely slept that night.

Are you saying 6 hours of sleep counts as mania? The article says feeling rested after 3.
