So what Erdos number does /sci/ have?
Mine's 24

0. People think I died but I just forgot to take my amphetamines.
Prof at my school I aaaaaaaaaalmost published with has erdos number 2.
I'm still fucking pissed that never panned out.

it's alright, erdos number over time is a decreasing function anyways now that the great air dish is dead
-1/12
>0
my barnett number is 2
My old HS teacher has erdos number of 3, I should probably publish something with him.
i'll be 5 if this prof ever gets back to me

Isn't 24 like impossible to achieve unless you're publishing from the most remote region of China or something? My first paper put me at 4... Granted, it's lucky that my thesis advisor's advisor collaborated directly with Erdos, but for anyone who published their first paper in the last 10 years or so, their advisor or their advisor's advisor published roughly at the same time as Erdos and I can't imagine them being further than 6 or 7 away from Erdos if they published in English, maybe 10 at the most if they published in another language.
I'm going to assume that your Erdos number is actually infinite because you just haven't published shit.

You can't get 1, obviously, but I'm guessing there are still people with Erdos number 1 that are publishing (any young (then) mathematician that he collaborated with at the end of his career). If so, 2, if not, 3.
I guess I'm 5 if this paper I'm co-authored on gets published.

What if he is in some other field and there happened to be a paper that had authors from both fields?
>>7639595
Interesting. I wonder what the Erdos number of prominent non-Mathematicians is?
Here's another one: what is the Erdos number of a mathematician who lived before Erdos? Who has the smallest?
My Erdos number is 3. I published with someone who published with Terry Tao.

Oh wait I guess that makes my number 4.
Whatever, it's a pissing contest anyway.
