wouldn't work for some experiment and you'd try to reconcile the experimental findings with a modified equation
F(x,x') = m · x''(t) · (1 + q·x'''(t))
where q is tiny, and for q=0 you'd obtain the old equation. It's an ad hoc change of the theory.

How do you do it?
How do you waste hours a day looking at symbols and reading papers, slaving away when you could be doing something entertaining?
This is my barrier to finishing even undergrad, I don't know how someone could like this stuff enough to make a career out of it.

Shouldn't this diverge (independent of the base used)? s(n) contains all the numbers in N and more, so the sum of the reciprocals of s(n) should be greater than the sum of the reciprocals of N which we know diverges.

In other words (wokring in base 10):

I am trying to convert the top circuit to a Norton Equivalent, and cant and I am always 100mA out in calculating it. I know Is/c has to be 5A but i can't get closer than 5.1

If you think of binomial coefficents, the first thing the comes to mnd is
(a+b)^k
you could look what that is.

If the coefficient, there are rules to make them smaller (like how to transform one to a sum of two smaller ones)

Imagine that you have a very long line and that you are asked to mark a number of points in consecutive fashion along the line, subject to a few conditions:

(1) For each new point that is marked on the line, there is a region of length L either side of that point within which no consecutive points are allowed to be marked. In other words, new points may only be marked if they are at least a distance of L from any other existing points.

(2) The location of each new point is chosen at random from any of the available locations along the line.

(3) Once there are no more possible locations, no new points are marked.

What would be the final average spacing of the points?

I have done a computer simulation of the problem and the average spacing seems to approach (4/3)*L but I have no way of proving this. Any thoughts?

I would like to write about this problem a bit, in the course of thinking about it.

I will suppose for initial thought that I have an infinitely long line to work with, though it occurs to me that the distinction between "infinite" and "very long" is very important to this problem, as the problem seems to involve notions of statistics, probability, and the continuum. I am also concerned about the formulation of the problem, and I wish to hold open the idea that its formulation be changed slightly, in thinking through your formulation. The problem's final language even supposes and assumes that there is a telos, or "end" to the iterations, also important. Finally, the idea of non-dense points is immediately suggestive of the naturals along the real line, but your OP picture is an excellent illustrative choice in that it supposes the possibility of irregularity.

Tacit in your problem is the idea that points are marked off one-at-a-time. This is also extremely important. the L is uniform among all such consecutively placed points, in your language - it doesn't vary, but is a constant L. At this point one ought to start thinking of open vs. closed intervals, dedekind cuts, etc. This regularity implicit in the formulation again implies a regularity of a natural number point-spacing, but let's keep thinking speculatively a bit more about your problem, before attempting anything definite.

I must confess to not knowing statistics very well. Therefore I would ask that you provide your own definition of "final average spacing", for example. It seems to me that we might have an infinity of points to work with, which might complicate matters. We might well conclude that such a metric does not exist.

3) Now the interesting part. Consider some finite line-segment-tier subset of R, being either closed, open, or half-open intervals as subcases and interest require, now apply the above P-L logic. Having only finite space to work with, (with respect to some L), it seems reasonable that the space should be finitely exhausted, in a general way. Thus OP's thing of "very long line" as opposed to "infinite line" proves to be germane after some thought. Some boilerplate about intervals, points, etc needs to be pinned down I would suggest, along with the statistical stuff that I admitted to not knowing.

I invite others to develop this train of thought further.

Me mum n' dad are getting into their mid fifties, and health isn't what it used to be

Long story short: me parents started drinking an entire squeezed lemon, mixed with water and no sugar, every morning

They say it does wonders, but I'm skeptic of a possible placebo effect.

Does any of you mateys have an opinion on drinking an entire lemon's juice everyday?
