Great, collecting pdfs makes you smarter.

This. Unless you'll actually read any of this shit, it's useless.
What would it be like to wake up one day with a double IQ? Let's say one alreadt has an above average IQ of 120, how would that person percieve reality from that day?

The same as everyone else.

They probably would want to die after realizing that they work as a bouncer and are a loser despite having the world's highest IQ.

Aren't teacher and teaching university staff biggest losers in the world.

If in capitalism there is no society why should I make a sacrifice for other people?

Being a STEM major and teach at secondary level makes you the biggest loser, however, being a Professor at a nice un won't make you look bad since you (usually) have a nice salary of 80+k/yr if you become full professor, get into good research and don't have to deal with kids since you could be with the MS people.

Three people named Alex, Blair, and Casey were questioned about the theft of a
rare manuscript. One of them committed the theft, one was an accomplice, and the other
was innocent. Each of these statements was made by one of the three people:
(1) Alex is not the accomplice.
(2) Blair is not the thief.
(3) Casey is not innocent.
The following facts are known about statements 1-3:
(I) Each statement refers to a person other than the speaker.
(II) The innocent person made at least one of the three statements.
(III) The innocent person told the truth.
(IV) Statements made by the thief or the accomplice are false
>>8611019
so, what exactly are you asking us to do?
Determine the role of each person in the theft
Alex is the thief
Blair is the accomplice
Casey is innocent
Can we have a thread about planetariums? I just had an awesome experience. Time for a cool starry bro.
I've been kinda pissed at modern planetariums skipping the star projection and instead showing you a movie of Neil deGrasse Tyson. So I decided to see the oldest American star projector in the country in Springfield's planetarium. Really disappointed when it turned out the day's program was a video about oceans or some shit.
But...I started talking to the presenter before the show started. Told this friendly old man how much I was looking forward to seeing a real star projection. Well, he said said if my girlfriend and I were the the only people there by the time the show was supposed to start, he'd scrap the canned show and give us the traditional projection he'd been doing for decades.
So that's exactly what we got. A 100% manual presentation about the night's sky, the seasons, and the constellations, run on a 1930s star projector, personally narrated by this man using the script he'd memorized years ago. For just the two of us.
Maybe I'm a faggot but that made me so fucking happy. I think the guy was happy someone showed up who actually wanted the real planetarium experience. Major props to chill old planetarium dude.
sounds like you had a good time, any photos perchance?

that would be amazing. not even kidding, would love to have that experience.

I'm trying to find two compact connected surfaces that are not homotopy equivalent but become homotopy equivalent after removing one point from each.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Surface_(topology)#Classification_of_closed_surfaces
says there's only the homeomorphism classes of the sphere, the connected sum of g-tori and connected sums of real projective planes
A sphere minus a point is homotopic to a point and a torus minus a point is homotopic to a figure eight, but what does a real projective plane minus a point look like?
I'm currently reading a book and wtaching math lectures online but I feel like I'm learning way too slow. I feel like I learned way faster way back in school.
How can I speed up the learning process in STEM related subjects? Any tips and ideas?
It feels pretty bad desu
>>8605094
pretty sure RP2 minus a point is S1, because it's like the sphere without a point+antipode
so maybe uhh RP2#RP2 and a torus? when removing a point from each of them this should give a bouquet of 2 circles in each case, and I don't think they're homotopy equivalent

Fellow companons I'm a Junior(CS) from FSU(I know it's a mediocre school) I will be double majoring pure math. And I just had the realization that I want to study math till the day I die,and know All I can about it.I know we have a math guide here in the board .But what would you recommend me to do?

I'm an international student from a not so shithole country.
transferring is still an option for me
At FSU I should have a better GPA but I think I would be able to transfer.

>didn't learn German or French
>didn't enter affordable excellent universities in Europe
Incidentally, drop the CS part. Chances are you're not smart enough to handle the load of two majors CS+math.
If you close your eyes and try to imagine something you can actually see it ?
or only >this
>>8612387
When I was meditating twice a day I could actually see it when I picked something small like a 20 sided dice or a coin.
If I weren't able to see tits in my head whenever I want I would have suizided long time ago.
>>8612395
You can actually see them? Like an image?
Hey guys, help a /sci/entist out- my class needs the pdf of the 5th Edition of Statics and Mechanics of Materials (Hibbeler) and none of us can find the textbook for less than 300 bucks.
>>8616725
You're not a /sci/entist. Your class literally just needs to chip in and share. Why so cheap?
This Hibbeler sounds like a real asshole. An introductory engineering text for 300 dollars. How greedy.
I found the pdf in literally 10 seconds. I'm not going to give it to you, because then you won't learn anything.
How unhealthy is it to eat meat?
100% of people who eat meat die
>>8616393
Post this on /fit/
>>8616393
Nobody really knows. Some research says it's nitrites in processed meat which cause problems. Some say it's not the meat per se, but that eating meat may tend to go along with not eating enough vegetables. Some research says that we don't have the right gene to help us process meat and we end up with carcinigenic byproducts; can't remember the detail, google is your friend.
And then there may be individual, or racial, genetic differences to take into account.
Who really knows?
With one eye on the research, such as it is, I'm of the opinion that it is a good thing to listen to your body and try to eat what seems healthy to you. For me, that's a little red meat regularly, but mostly chicken and fish, with eggs, nuts and vegetables, no milk and low grains. YMMV. It's 'unscientific' but while the science isn't giving us too much to go on re. meat, listening to what my body wants seems to be as good an option as any.
What's the most retarded thing anyone has ever said to you on this board?
MMR doesn't cause autism.
>>8616289
Was this in the marxist thread?
>>8616357
I still have nightmares of that God forsaken thread. So little information was conveyed in that thread and yet it just would not die.
What are some examples of different media (movies, books, video games, etc.) that explain science fiction concepts well?
The concepts do not necessarily do not have to be realistic. I am more concerned with how well the creator can explain their creation to make it somewhat believable.

Psychohistory was an interesting concept, it's been done many times since asimov.
>90% of my mistakes in tests were caused by arithmetic errors
>take forever to do a simple calculation in my head
>STILL haven't memorized the multiplication tables
>not to mention the math unrelated things like forgeting someone's name literally seconds after they told me
>no difficulties to understand higher level concepts
Is this fixable?
>higher level concepts
What did he mean by this
>>8616251
higher level (of abstraction) regarding arithmetic
>>8616236
Really hard to tell from your description OP. Practice can fix a lot of issues, but not being quick witted enough will kill you in advanced classes in college. After all, most of your scores will come from exams which are meant to take the full time period and challenge you.
