Hello /sci/. 5 minutes ago I've got this idea.
What if i connect few electrodes to my palm, connect them to computer. Next I will play in my headphones how a character is pronounced and shock myself a little with a special pattern of electrodes.
And repeat this for each letter in English or my native Russian alphabet.
And here is my question: after 2(or more) weeks of such procedures, will I hallucinate sounds when shocked in a specific pattern?
Imagine possibilities of silent data transfer.

sounds like a way to brainwashing.
i think that your brain would associate the pain to the sounds but nothing more than that.
This might have something to it.
You could just use the Braille system, I can see that your rough sketch has six dots, that'd be the perfect arrangement.
If you decide to do this, please post status updates. This is the kind of thing to tripfag for.
>>8621091
I'm sorry I didn't understand you.
This is my goal - to associate specific pain to specific sound.Just like I associate specific pictures(characters) to sounds now.
>a way to brainwashing
Do you think it may be harmful for me? I doubt this method will work at all,and brainwashing is much more complex thing than simple "reading"
Is it possible to write an algorithm that predicts lottery numbers?
>>8621020
Because every lotto number is equally likely to be picked.
>>8621027
so it's literally impossible? there's no pattern that I could pick on?
>>8621034
Not impossible, but there are too many confounding variables.
The lottery is close enough to being random that it might as well be random.
There are other lotteries that people have cracked in the past because the patterns were not random enough. But the people who cracked them typically made more money doing their day jobs than spending time hunting down winning lottery tickets.
There is an amazing Asian gang that has cracked this one card game. It's super cool how they do it. They have a camera up their sleeve, card recognizing software, a little pick that goes under their fingernail so they can expose each card in the dealer's deck as they are cutting the deck in half, and an ear piece to hear the answers from the computer analysis. It looks amazing.
is the immune system intelligent/self aware?
at least tell me wtf is going on at white blood cells changing direction?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RPIzIznmAO0&feature=share
start the video at 35 secoonds
also i'm sick my self would a 200 buck 2000x microscope get me the same results? or do i need a more powerful?
>>8620952
>is the immune system intelligent/self aware?
Isn't it fucking amazing?! I just love this stuff. My immunology professor actually was a neuroscientist but decided to do research and teach in immunology, because the immune system is analogous to a much more understood, slightly dumbed down brain.
Anyway, despite not having eyes, ears, a nose, or a brain, the white blood cell can be quite participatory with its environment. As the video mentioned, the white blood cell is using chemotaxis.
The cell membrane is coated with all sorts of little sensors that help detect the concentration of chemicals in the environment (i.e. analogous to odors and olfactory receptors).
The cell has a mechanism in which it essentially can compare concentrations of chemicals that it detects and follow the gradient to the source of the "odor".
Which "odors" it "decides" to follow depend on the internal biochemistry/state of the cell. So, as a hypothetical situation, if a cell is "hungry" (i.e. low on ATP), the cell might try to find a glucose supply.
>>8620973
would i be able to see the same with a 2000x microscope?
Okay sci I have a theory that smarter people listen to dubstep as it is a complex music to understand. So my questions are how many of you agree with my theory? Who says hogwash and disagrees? And why?
>>8620861
I have a theory that stupid people listen to dubstep based on a sample size of OP.
>>8620866
It must be true you got dub's hahaha. I'm not stupid I made honers society for science sooooo....
>>8620861
OP here. Actually, I don't have a theory. I don't even have a hypothesis. I have a bullshit opinion that's based on absolutely nothing, and I really wanted to start a thread on /sci/, so you're going to hear about it.

Is the entropy of a solved Rubik's lower than that of a scrambled one?
>>8620756
There is no difference
Like, entropy, or information entropy? If the former see previous post if the latter a well organized Rubik has 0 entropy because there is no information missing from the definition of a Rubik's cube to specify the whole state of the system.
>>8620756
So according to the second law of thermodynamics, the entropy of the cube always increases whenever you rotate one of the faces. So a scrambled cube has more entropy than a solved cube, but if you start with a new cube, scramble it up, then solve it, the entropy will actually be higher than it was originally even though the cube is in the exact same state!
I'm not very well acquainted with physics and aerodynamics, and I need to float an idea out there with people who are.
Would it be possible to build a model Y-Wing (as shown in the pic and video) that works without aerodynamic lift via wings or rotors? I was thinking it might be possible if done with a gyroscope for pitch and roll movement; The gyroscope would be moved to to achieve this effect without any control surfaces. The yaw would be with small rudders attached to the rear part of the engine. The ship would powered with two engines to keep it aloft. Hovering would be achieved by the force of the engines being used to counter the movements of the gyroscope and the rudders to counter any flat rotation.
If my idea is shit, let me know, and any suggestions if you like.
>>8620628
The turns, ya, slew, and angles could all be done with thrust vectoring instead of gyros and rudders and shit. Many modern fighter jets are starting to use thrust vectoring
>>8620628
Maybe you should learn how to form coherent sentences before you worry about stupid shit like this.
>>8620636
>thrust vectoring
Yes it would, but then it does not look authentic. I'm trying to go for something that looks indistinguishable from the real thing.
Can someone please explain this? If you aren't aware, positive reinforcement directed to a jar of rice will prevent mould, and negative thoughts towards another jar of rice will make it rot.
Countless videos on YouTube of people getting the same results and proving this. I did the experiment myself and got the same results. One jar had zero rot and looked edible, and the other was black/greenish. Repeated of course with different jars and rice and same results. I encourage you to try yourself, interested if anyone here has done this.
thats just simple statistics. 50/50 the jar gets moldy or it doesnt. with two jars you get exactly one jar moldy the other not.
science wins again
??????
>>8620606
Wat. They should both go mouldy.
Most crypto books I come across even "beginner" ones are too advanced for me. I need one that assumes less mathematical knowledge and is self-contained. Any recommendations?

Yeah I bet you think re-entry heating and deceleration is caused by friction too huh.

Does moisturizing make your skin less capable of producing its own oils/moisture? I've read conflicting reports online, so I'm curious if anyone knew for sure.
Do you use moisturizer or lotion? I get the impression that most guys don't, and are still able to maintain perfect skin. Meanwhile, me (also a guy) can't even take a 5 minute shower in lukewarm water without my skin being dry, tight, and broken out.
>>8620301
Welcome to modern medical research, vested interest, big pharma, and data manipulation.
>>8620301
I think dry skin and broken out skin are kind of unrelated, in fact dry skin should be less likely to break out than moisturized skin
>>8620301
aerobic exercise is the only tonic your skin needs, eat veg is best
Minimal soap as well
moisturizing/cleansers are all bullshit. I know its hard to believe but when you think about it given the numbers of insecure, ignorant people you realize how easy it has been for the chem industry to create a billion dollar industry. I used to work in it. Nobody buys this shit but people who don't understand anything about it.
as for if fucking up your ability to make your own oils/moisture, NO, not permanently, anyway. Unless it causes cancer.
and BTW every time I hear some faggot talk about moisturizer I always ask him how can he moisturize something with an oil, he never has an answer, he knows nothing.
Eat right, aerobic exercise, shower, some soap if at all dirty, change the pillowcase, stop touching your fucking face 2000 times a day, and fucking save your money.
Why is is that every time I masturbate late at night, my dick starts to hurt (you know like inside the dickhole)
Please guys you're supposed to be smart
>>8620219
Does it sting? I get this when I don't clear out the entire load thoroughly. Pump-squeeze that shit out senpai.
>>8620258
Yeah it stings. But this only happens late at night just before I'm going to bed like right now
What does /sci/ think of LessWrong? Are these people as smart as they say they are, or are they just spouting pseudoscience? Should I take any of the advice on that website seriously?
>>8620134
who is that lesbian monkey on the right
it's a cult
>>8620134
They see wrong, hence right and the need to be right. They do not see 'not as bad,' and so good is not their priority. They don't have answers, obviously, but you can still learn, even if it's learning they have nothing much or more of value to present.
Is there anything unexplained left worth studying physics for?
>>8620055
yeah lol if you can figure out how to unify relativity and quantum mechanics
>>8620060
You could also figure out what truly causes relativity (constant speed of light) and what causes particles to have a probability space oftheir location in quantum mechanics.
>>8620066
Or you could dedicate your life to understanding how my dick could possibly be so large.
