Okay. I've decided that maybe there would be some interest in a live-stream where brainlets could converse with me on their problems.
I've always been a fan of the collaborative method.
Any takers?
What are you on about?

Oh kill yourself simon
what is your favorite #1 biggest polynomial
>>8636618
x^2 + 1 because it's the splitting polynomial for the complex numbers over R and it's extremely simply
it's also an example of a polynomial that's not zero as a polynomial but zero as a function when regarded over F_2
>>8636637
>zero as a function when regarded over F_2
0^2+1=0?
Whichever one that forms the bat symbol
So /sci/, what do you think about this list https://hbpms.blogspot.com/ on how to get into maths? I graduated on a local university, but comparing here's undergrad program to most of the outside schools makes me feel like I need to study so much more. The last heavy course I took was a grad Complex Analysis course where we barely touched anything after the Residue theorem and that was three years ago. I haven't touched much of maths since I managed to get a job quite fast. Long story short, I went for the actuary meme and after two exams(Prob. and Fin.Maths) I got a nice paying job that made me want to kill myself after only three months. The pay was great, but I quit after only one year. Fastforward to two years later and after leeching from my parents while eating up the savings, I applied to a MS program on the same University since I had no prior experience researching. Should I start from scratch? I remember most of the stuff since I loved it, but I fear my senses won't be as keen if I start something too advanced from the get go.
Holy fuck what is with this blog shit, I should just shitpost the link and get some eventual genuine replies.

Is anyone on /sci/ using Valium(Diazepam) at all? How it help with your focus?
My friend gave me some to help with my anxiety and alcohol issues. I'm wondering if it will have an impact on my work.
Is there any neurologist that can comment on this? so far it has worked great for my anxiety, but I'm worried it may have an impact on my cognitive abilities to achieve the same level of work.
>>8636309
yeah, benzos are a bad idea (tm)
extremely addictive, and withdrawal is HELL and lasts months, if not years.
DO NOT USE THIS FOR ANXIETY DISORDERS.
i know panic attacks suck, but just working through them is MUCH better than using benzos.
once you want to get off benzos because of the horrible side effects (=you being a complete zombie because no rem sleep) you will have much more and much more intense panic attacks, even after the withdrawal is done.
benzos are notoriously over-prescribed in the US.
>I'm worried it may have an impact on my cognitive abilities to achieve the same level of work.
it definitely will. also REM sleep will be gone once you take them regularly. and keep in mind half life of valium is extremely long (several days)
tl;dr dont do benzos
>>8636338
Thanks for your response, what If I just used them for say... 1 month? to combat my alcohol withdrawal
Also, I'm not using them to avoid panic attacks. I'm using them for general anxiety purposes. sometimes I can barely talk to people because I get so anxious, sometimes cant leave the house. I never knew the side effects were so bad, but in my mind they are 10x less dangerous than drinking wine. Am I wrong to think this is a good vice replacement?

Double in Statistics + Mathematics or Statistics + EE/CpE minor. CS majors/minors are worthless, you can learn far more CS material much more quickly by self studying it.
if you were frozen right now. would you be worth resurrection in 1000 years? Why?
I doubt my people would even exist in 1000 years, so I'd be worth quite a bit for geneticists of the future.

you mean like we would like to DNA fingerprint Aztecs and jingles khan? or Dinosaurs?
but isn't it enough if you just store your DNA right now on a long lasting media?
where is the worth other than DNA?

That's all anyone currently living would be worth in a society that's has a 1000 year difference of technological progress.
Is physics a real science?
>>8636247
Yes.
Next question?
>>8636278
How do you justify your answer?
>>8636294
By using common sense.
So we know that matter and energy is the same, and space and time is the same
Is it possible that energy/matter can be converted in spacetime and vice verse?
Isn't it what black holes do?
>>8636109
Matter can be converted into energy just like how you can convert good boy points into tendies. It doesn't mean they're the same thing though.
>>8636109
>another mathemagician that believes in spacetime
Lel
black holes change spacetime, they are not converted to spacetime

Hah, what an idiotic thing to say. It's always been international, Gauss was German.
Hey /sci/ can you guys recommend some good splash-proof glasses or goggles for lab work?
I'm looking for something that won't fog up every minute and there's always a multiple reviews saying the anti-fog measures are bullshit.
Is anti-fog coating and indirect ventilation a meme?
Anti fog coating works but also is a scam. Smear a thin film of dish soap on the inside of the goggles and it does the same thing.
>>8635809
Wouldn't that require frequent replacement?
>>8635746
spit is what you're looking for
preferably your own
How do you memorize stuff /sci/?
The best way to memorize stuff is make sense of it. otherwise, trying to keep in mind a lot of stuff will make you forget it quickly, as seen when you study just for the test and then forget the whole thing.
>>8635717
write it down time and time again and study day before examns with rigour and calmness.
>>8635717
First, when given material I need to memorize I never study directly from that.
I read it once and as I go I summarize it into neat self contained bullet points.
Then after I have my list I start reading one bullet point. Then recite it from memory.
Then read the second bullet point and then recite bullet point one and bullet point 2 from memory.
If I don't remember or make a mistake then I will re-read the bullet point I fucked up and then repeat until I can recite.
Then I go to the next bullet point, read it, and then recite all bullet points I've read so far. Do the same in case of mistake.
Basically
Read bullet point N
Recite bullet points 1 to N.
Read bullet point N+1
etc.
Alright /sci/ I've got 1.4 years to learn basic high school math.from algebra 1 to calculus,I also have to learn high school physics and chem to get into college (I dropped out in 10th grade and dont remember shit)the catch is tho I'm a complete brainlet and I forgot what I ate for breakfast this morning, could I pull this off with hard study and get into an engineering course?
>>8635633
yeah, just stop vdrinking like a redneck and dont smoke too much weed and youre fine.
>>8635633
1.4 years left and asking if you can catch up an """engineering""" course !
you brainlet ofc can, stop being a faggot and start right now i'm maths major i can help you if you wanna
You can, you just need to dedicate yourself to that. The sheer will that you want to learn something proves you're not a brainlet. Glad that you realized what you want to do
