What would an optimal curriculum in pure mathematics look like?

I deff think they should be combining math with data science and CS some probably do

Addition -> Subtraction -> Multiplication -> Division
everything else is useless academic wank you'll never need in real life
Okay I think this is a fun hypothetical that happened in a table top game that I was part of.
Involved is a brick of "moondust" (for all intents and purposes our GM said it's like cocaine) and a spiked mace.
A brick was thrown and batted back at the thrower still intact. I tried to argue that the brick should have exploded once struck by a spiked mace. Others argued that a brick is dense enough to survive being hit like it was.
So science/math folks could you help solve this debate?
>>8654947
>So science/math folks could you help solve this debate?
Not without knowing the actual physical properties of the brick.
>>8654963
Okay so I don't know how dense a brick of cocaine is weights are estimated
1000 grams = 35.27 ounces "One Kilo"
A kilogram of cocaine is often referred to as being 2.2 pounds of cocaine.
1 kilo (kilogram, 2.2 pounds) of cocaine (compressed) would be about 4 inches by 8 inches by 1.5 inches thick or 48 cubic inches, an inch longer than a large paperback book.
This is about 10 x 20 x 4 cm. (800 cm3) at 1.216 g/cm3
Hope this helps
Neither of you are correct; the brick would neither have stayed intact nor exploded. Assuming it is a BRICK of cocaine created by ideal pressure compaction, and having about the same properties as talcum powder, the brick would simply have split into pieces wherever impact was made. Though, made un-idealy, the most likely scenario is a bit of powder release upon impact.
To what degree would be able to communicate with them? According to science about 90% of all communication is based upon body language.
But does that only apply to Earth based lifeforms or could some of it be universal?
For example, we know that communicating with animals in general is pretty easy. But is it only because of our shared evolution, or could their intellect play a role too? For example, dogs are able to read our facial expressions and detect our moods based of smell, body language, vocal tone. We can do that as well, with most animals too - cats, birds, bats, etc. Most people find it really easy to "read" whether an animal is comfortable, happy, distressed or hungry.
There are universal gestures as well, reaching back for millions of years. How most animals sigh the same way we do. In fact, fish sigh too. There's sneezing, universal gestures for getting comfortable, being agitated, checking whether somebody is following us, hissing and showing teeth when angry, making loud noises when scared etc.
Theoretically if we ran into Aliens who had eyes and ears could we make them understand us on some level with these basic signals?

When will plebs realize that probability means there's still a chance.
So the Pats had a .20% chance of winning the super bowl, and they did.

Why isn't Grothendieck more of a household name like Einstein or Newton?
Is bullying a groupthink tool that evolved with animals to promote conformity? It's a phenomenon that lives and breeds with people until they're taught that it's wrong. All over the world, children and adults engage in this behavior, so this can't be a result of enviromental causes. This is straight up built into our genepool.
So my idea is.. Did this behavior contribute to the development of civilization? Is the current trend evolving towards the idea that if everyone is on the same team, society and life will function a lot better?
Is bullying a subphenomenon of natural selection? can they make a spectrum type of chart that maps any behavior from mild peer pressure to tortureous bullying?
Is cruelty and amoral group behavior towards eccentric and socially inept people actually advancing humanity? Scientists believe that autistic people thrived in the times where homo sapiens was still at the primitive hunter gatherer stage, because where they lacked the skills in communication they made up for it in survival skills and they would live and roam by themselves because they didn't need the security net that came with tribes and shit.

Sure they do, retard.

Bullying is an authoritarian trait. Authoritarians are more aggressive but also more fearful.
What I think you are describing is Punishment. I am a huge advocate of Punishment. Punishment is necessary to deter Cheaters ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cheating_(biology) ).

To me it seems as if this modern philosopher perfectly captures decades of philosophy and knows what a Philosophers job is; to take something more or less complicated that would take paragraphs, perhaps days to explain, and turn it into a few words, a sigh, or a sentence?

How do you plagiarize yourself?
verb (used with object), plagiarized, plagiarizing.
1.
to take and use by plagiarism.
2.
to take and use ideas, passages, etc., from (another's work) by plagiarism.
>Autodidacticism
Is there anything wrong with self learning ? We live in the 21.sr century afterall so if something isnt on the internet you dont have to know it. You could learn anything upt to college material with all the material and exercise. It gets a bit harder at PhD reaearch lvl but its still there. What do yall think.
This is what college is anyways.
Only those that are smart to study on their own and past what the professor says excel.
In college it goes something like this
>professor teaches a
>homework reiterates a
>book teaches you extensions of a
>you learn a-z
>tests test you on b-z
>everyone complains it wasn't taught
Joke's on them, it's in the book you paid $200+ for.
>>8654493
you can learn everything online now but you need to go to college for the degree
literally you can learn quantum chemistry and other hard things on youtube
>>8654529
Keep telling yourself you "know" quantum chemistry, you brainlet.
i'm pretty sure i have lung cancer, i've been under medical investigation(abdominal ct scan, colonoscopy and ultrasound has all come back clear, so no gastro cancer) for 6 months with no appetite and weight loss amongst other things but for some reason a chest x-ray has been overlooked so far much to a new doctor I have seen's horror
only even been a drunk/social smoker for like 7 years really, and sometimes when i'm bored
i'm 25 years old, i'm pretty sure it's going to be stage IV as my back and head hurt. most likely some variant of non-small cell
fuck
>>8654469
Wow that sucks man. Hope you get checked ASAP.
I'm pretty sure I have pancreatic cancer myself. I have pretty much the same symptoms as you, but doctors brush it off because I'm 25.

So, I never really hear any discussion or potential solutions.
Is the world population going to fuck us over in 10-20 years? Am I just going to start getting my life together, and then a mob of starving people is going to kill everyone who has a house?
Exaggerations aside, what does this chart mean for the future?
The growth will come from Africa. Europe, NA, SA and Oceania is not overpopulated.
>>8654465
>Is the world population going to fuck us over in 10-20 years?
Nah, birth rates have been declining since the 60s. There's very little to worry about, all that's required is for westerners to take a bit of a haircut to their living standards....Actually there might be something to worry about.
Studies suggest that the human population will peak at 10 billion, then it will decline afterwards.
Makes sense. African and asian populations keep growing, but at the same time they are getting more and more developed. And we know that developed countries have a declining population.
Is the IQ improvable? If yes, how can one improve his IQ?
Right now, I have an IQ of 130 and I want to improve, at least, 10 points, since I feel like a brainlet with just 130. Any advices?
xD you're already beyond fucked if you need to rely on a number. This is coming from your Senpai with an IQ of 145.
>>8654369
There are progrmas that can increase your score on the test by a few points.
However, this increase in score is even less likely to actually reflect general intelligence at other tasks. IQ can correlate with success in intellectual tasks but small difference such as between 130 and 140, the power of the prediction is small. Yet here you're just boosting your score by learning tricks to the particular questions on this test. It will mean nothing.
>>8654369
get better at taking IQ tests? no reason to think you can't just practice that.
>b-b-b-but that's not actually getting more intelligent!
well, that makes IQ tests sound like a problematic assessment tool, doesn't it?
