Room temperature superconductors. We would already have them if particle ""physicists"" didn't waste all our research money on their totally worthless stamp collecting fetish.

Any seismologists here?
What's the likelihood of a big fucking earthquake destroying California in the next few years? I'm talking like some 10.8 Richter shit, with an epicenter a stone's throw from San Fran.
I really want these motherfuckers to die.

California is the best country in the world you cuck. Also, the chances of that happening are nil.

Thats impossible, do you have any idea how much force is needed to vaporize a mass of continental crust that large?
>>
>>8658612
Why the fuck would you want to do that? US is already a declining power, without California they're literally third world. You don't want the chinks to take over.

If light doesn't have mass then why does a black hole effect it?
27 posts and 5 images submitted.
>>
Because it steals it.
>>

Because Lorenz transformations has energy and momentum conservation built in. Because of this, even mass less particles have non 0 momentum via
E^2 = (mc^2)^2 + (pc)^2

And light definitely has energy.

This suggests that light can be affected by forces. You need gr, not Sr to explain this intermediate effect but it's there.

Why are we not trying to eradicate mouth ulcers with the same enthusiasm as we are trying to eradicate cancer?

Like Jesus Christ, I'm not even asking for a permanent cure which may hurt Big Pharma's profits...a decent pain relief will suffice but none currently exist...

You need to want it bad enough. That is all it takes.

If you want it, you will persevere through hunger, pain, distractions.

Barring medical issues of course.

Anyone else enjoy really chill video game music while they study?

Robert Rich, the 6+ hour long videos you find on YouTube are pretty good and not distracting.

I listen mostly to heavy as fuck instrumental doom while I work, try Bongrippers "Miserable" , but even bands with lyrics are usually not distracting. It's usually slow and easy to get a rhythm going to, and easy to study to.

Another few more good options are deep house, phonk, vapor wave, video game sound tracks, especially from games that require skill and concentration.

If you like classical there's plenty of mixes on YouTube.

If multiplication is to addition what powers are to multiplication then it's easy to imagine an infinite series of such relationships, where the next element is repeated powers and the one after that is repeated repeated powers... Ad infinitum, assigning natural numbers to each order of this operation.

But has anyone tried to expand this idea into rationals, then reals and finally, complex numbers?

Ok, /sci/ this might be a stupid question
I'm an amateur at space physics, most likely even less than an amateur
so I was reading up on space time continuum and something made me wonder
so does that make empires that span through different stars(interstellar empires) improbable due to the time differences? Even if we could travel at lightspeed assuming that would be possible.
I'm sorry if there are any grammar mistakes, english is not my native language.
Also please correct me if I think wrong
17 posts and 3 images submitted.
>>
Yes there would be time differences, but only during travel. Unless one of the planets is orbiting a blackhole, a clock on every planet would tick at roughly the same rate as the other clocks.
>>
>>8657917
How big would the difference be during travel
lets say from the sun's earth to proxima b exoplanet?

How fast are they capable of travelling? And how far or how long are they travelling for? Figure that out and plug them into this formula.

i'm a 19 year old man, I want to give myself some nasty cancer because I hate being alive and it will be easiest on my family this way

what's the best way of doing this? If I smoked 100 cigarettes a day and ate 5,000 calories a day of mostly saturated fat, do you think I'd have a pretty good chance of getting it by the age of 30?

Browse /pol/ for a week. That board is 1000% cancer.

Why is you dying of cancer easier on them than if you just suicided? Make it look like an accident or some shit.
Unless they hate you and you want to have cancer to humour their sadistic nature by slowly dying in agony over a period of months or years.

BY THE FUCKING WAY, YOU CANNOT ROUND UP FOR N. WHEN YOU CALCULATE THE ENERGY OF ELECTRONS AND SOLVE FOR N, YOU CANNOT ROUND UP TO THE NEAREST N, YOU ALWAYS ROUND DOWN YOU FUCKING RETARD THAT'S NOT HOW ATOMS WORK
>>
>>8657889
Can't you just [math]\left[ \hat x, \hat p\right ] [/math] to prove the uncertainty principle?
>>
>>8657900
Well I guess we were showing that our wave was behaving by the uncertainty principle, not really proving the principle itself

because our wave didn't have any transcendental functions
