>As technology increases exponentially, it is feasible that an advanced civilization could create a powerful method of computing that could generate our universe
>The reason our universe seems "reality-ish" is because it needs to obey the same fundamental set of laws as the parent universe that generated it

I used to think it was just a retarded viral marketing campaign by Elon Musk (tm), but I recant. Simulated reality is real.

Brainlet in the past
Brainlet in the future

You're still too much of a brainlet to claim whether or reality is simulated or not.
>>
>>8776891
why would it need to obey the parent universes laws? wouldnt that just be a recursive universe then?

btw planck length/ plank time = pixels/frames in the simulation

There's quite a lot of theorems that depend on the riemann hypothesis.

Hello. It's Uranus and Neptune here to remind you that we haven't heard from you Earthfolk since 1989.

Voyager 2 was pretty cool but it didn't enter any orbits and only took a few fuzzy photographs of our grand moon systems.

When will you humans get off your asses and send a real mission out here again?

They have some pretty interesting moons.
Also, they'd probably be less boring if we know more than jack-shit about them.

Chromosome.jpg

I feel like at some point in humanity's future history we're going to find a way to alter and manipulate all 23 chromosomes. But I would like to know how such a thing could be possible. I know the LGBT community would push for this if it meant that trannies get to feel whole with their chromosomes and I'm sure such conditions such as Down's Syndrome would be eliminated. But what are the social repercussions of playing God this way? Would this be the day that humankind oversteps its boundaries? How might one change or alter chromosomes if it is permanent?

I just don't understand why don't just gas the trannies and downies.
>>
>>8776234
While CRISPR and the like is a good step, the general rule while we're still alive will be "if you're already born, it's too late"

Socially I see designer babies becoming more of a thing, and a few degenerative genetic diseases getting wiped out. Both are those are good if you ask me.

So the public radio in my country is talking about cellphones giving you cancer. As a poor neetfag I never bothered getting a cellphone and I'm paranoid as fuck when it comes to radiation so I don't even use wifi.

I was reading years ago that cellphones aren't supposed to make skin contact, you are supposed to keep them an inch or two away from your ear while talking, kind of like a walky-talky.

So what do normies do? They press it right against their ear, stare at it all day, and when not using it, they place it in their pockets next to their genitals.

So yes, it's the year 2017 and people are just realizing that everyone has been using cellphones improperly and has been giving themselves tumors.

What do you think about all this /sci/? Are we in for a cancer / potato epidemic?

Like don't you agree that radiation is dangerous as fuck and should be avoided at all costs when one can?

Very, very few artists are also mathematically inclined and/or are knowledgeable in something like physics or chemistry to a high level.

If being good at math and being knowledgeable of technical subjects makes you "smart", then does that mean all artists are "'dumb"?

Is there a causation between being skilled in an art form and specifically not being skilled in something like math or science?

I literally cannot think of a single modern guitar player that was also some PhD candidate or post-doc etc... The only one that comes close is Brian May from Queen(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brian_May#Astrophysics) who is widely considered one of the greatest guitarists of all time.

Does learning math and science destroy creativity?
30 posts and 4 images submitted.
>>
Being creative doesn't mean your gonna base your career on art or music. making money from it is hard, especially if you wanna be "creative" and not a shitty pop star like your Queen guy.
I think that math/physics people often value art more than the avg population desu
>>
>>8776218
>I think that math/physics people often value art more than the avg population desu
they have the capacity for appreciation, but arent very creative themselves.

>>8776139
>Does learning math and science destroy creativity?
thas a dumb implication. there are different sensibilities, its all down to what skills we are loaded with when we are born.
>>
Mathematics undergrad who wants to become an artist on the side, can anecdotally confirm, no creativity.. But the creative types seem to be pretty slow with acquiring skills that don't 100% rely on intuition so if there is any way to increase creativity we could outdo em in their own fields

>Teachers told young Alex his questions were dumb because all his questions were well-known and solved problems in calculus
>Alex thought his teachers were dumb for thinking his questions were retarded
>Alex got marked off for not having proofs that matched the book's proofs
>Alex got really fed up with textbook problems, they weren't his problems.

The common normie with no appreciable science education is absolutely taking his modern atheist ideology on faith from science he doesnt understand. If you deny science is the religion of the modern atheist youre disingenuous.

Smarter than their male counterparts in my experience. Usually if you see them at the upper-levels they had to be twice as good as their male counterpart. There are some really smart women in STEM. They key is to find a hot one and wife her.
