What did he mean by this?

He didn't like the probabilistic nature of QM. Hence his quip.

The worst part is that this necessitates his belive in a god.
Any theorical physics wizard to tell me if this thing is theorically possible or not?
Not mine, I'm just a guy who can search pretty well on Google apparently.

I found it here, you can take a look.

is there an intuitive descritption of Euler characteristic? alternating sum of Betti numbers doesn't have any sense to me
I always think about this scenario when I hear about Euler:
Euler rubbing me with oil and after he finishes I say to him "You're a good oiler, Euler"

I just wanted to bump this thread in a different way than to just write "bump".
chance of getting 6 on a dice is 1/6 = ~17%
to calculate that we get at least one 6 in 10:
chance of not getting 6 = 100% - 17% = 83%
for 10 tries 0.83^10 = 0.15%
so chance of getting at least one six in 10 rolls is 85%
But how would I go with the question, of throwing at least two sixes?
(1/6) * (1/6) * 1^8
>>8844214
p(X>1) X=B(10,1/6)
>>8844225
this does not seem correct
>>8844227
this does not make much sense to me
... why do ouija boards work?
If there isn't a reality that is hidden from us or a life after death or even demonic forces (yes I can feel you sneering at me already), then how?
people making shit up and other people eating it

Unconscious slight movements from all individuals adding up to produce enough momentum that percieved movements is coming from an outside source instead that all of their arms are doing a small portion of the work.
Pretty much the same way that facilitated communication worked and tricked everyone.
>Something changed
>It's like a déjà vu
How do we scientifically prove reality really exists?
"something existing" is a base requirement to be able to speculate as to whether or not something exists.
DEJA VU I'VE BEEN IN THIS PLACE BEFORE
>>8844011
haven't you heard? CIA lemon party gestapo has been squealing "change" for about decade now and "climate change" for almost 3 decades as part of global WAR-ming activities. So the "change" itself is not exactly not related to those other WAR-nings about be careful what you wish for.
>tfw I hardly understand Linear Algebra even though I know how to answer all exam questions

Your welcome
>>8843949
so now you know how it feels to be artificial intelligence that is just bio memory storage device. So how is it possible to insert data into human cognition in such manner? There are way more devious forces in play, but none of those rainbow forces are on your side. Linear Algebra is very simple if it is used in practice, but once it is forced down the throat as "genie in a bottle" type method to the madness it's just lobotomization instrument.

If it didn't, any other resources or have I just found out I'm not cut out for this?

>professor how many neurons will we have to simulate before we get real intelligence?
I say. I don't know. How many atoms do we have to simulate to get real gravity? And then everyone loses their shit. It's hilarious.
>>8843760
What is real intelligence?
It's true though. Intelligence and consciousness is a continuous spectrum
>>8843760
That actually would be a good argument if you assume that consciousness does not arise from a mere structure and interactions of parts within it. However, we don't know whether it's true or false, and most scientists are materialists, so they will most likely answer negatively, thus your point does not invalidate their views.
So everyone knows that chances of all types of cancer increase with age.
However, they found that at really old age (100 yrs), the chances of getting cancer are really low. Any ideas why is that, /sci/?
>>8843644
By that time the cancer just can't be bothered any more.
>>8843644
If you haven't got it by then, you're probably just really resistant to cancer.
>>8843644
not everyone gets it. simple as that. my family has practically zero history of it. we have heart and thyroid problems and typically die in old age of heart failure. people who are susceptible typically will get it in their late 70s, early 80s. that's all.
TLDR: OP want to impress woman of his dreams and needs help
Okay /sci/ ima need y'alls help right now
Im currently talking to a crush that im trying to impress and she needs help on this essay of bacterial culture.
Bacilli, that ferments glucose but doesn't*
thanks for correcting me*
Produce gas
Its also an noncoliform which doesn't ferment lactose.
Thats what we have so far.

If you're helping her on an essay and you're not dating, I can almost guarantee that you'll never end up with her. Save yourself the trouble and just ask her out and get rejected, so you can move on.

If I have extra terrestrial life forms all 50 inches to 100 inches tall, what is the probability I pick one at random that is exactly 78 inches? The distribution is Uniform.
I can tell you the odds of you passing your basic bitch class if at this point (end of April) you're unable to grasp these simple concepts.
It's low.
>>8843495
ok i'll say it....the probability is 1/2 since either it's 78 inches or it's not
ha ha
>>8843495

So what is the general consensus on caffeine around the /sci/entific community?
I drink something around 90-160MG or so of caffeine a day, through the form of diet soda/coffee/tea, and I'm wondering if relying on caffeine to study is a good idea.
Would a person be able to think more clearly and operate more efficiently on water than they would on coffee/soda?
>>8843461
Your brain does better off caffeine than it does on it habitually. It is better to completely abstain from using caffeine until you really need it for something. Then you can drink a cup of coffee in the morning and be good for 48 hours.
Good luck going off caffeine for the 2 week down period it takes to get your brain function back to normal.
>>8843474
Does it really only take 2 weeks for it to go back to normal? I have been drinking shit for 5 years now.
>>8843474
That's gonna be two weeks of hell
Whats it like working in a thermal power plant (probably not nuke) as an engineer?I have heard it can be pretty demanding.
What about other gigs in generation/distribution?
>>8843375
It's interesting but fairly boring. If it is well maintained than turnarounds are the only major thing. You are just optimizing and troubleshooting on a system that is fairly standard.
>>8843375
how fucking big is that thing exactly? no nearby reference to compare
>>8843375
the level of excitement is proportional to your stupidity. if you stay on top of shit, most of your day is spent just walking the plant floor and dicking around in maximo.
there are times where you have to scramble and put in a 22 hour day, but they are hopefully few in number and are part of some planned outage/event. having SHTF like in your pic means someone is getting fired, at least in the US.
