Was Leonardi da Vinvi literally the smartest person ever?

Not just a scientist and mathematician but also a top tier artist. It's like if Einstein and Van Gogh were the same guy

If he were a live today do you think he'd be doing more than Elon Musk?
>>
>>8846790
The bar was set pretty low at that point desu. Polymath-ism is dead.

If Da Vinci was born today he'd be shoehorned into some specific branch of science doing research on the bonds between two specific charges on rubidium atoms in a lab somewhere.

In 20 years time he'll produce a hand full of papers and no one would have heard of him.

Will be another meaningless far left protest against the Trump government under the guise of some relevant issue?

Unless you are far left this protest is not for you.

Realistically, what has Trump done to actual scientists to butt fluster them?

If space-time curvature is just an analogy and space is not really curving, then what's going on for real?
28 posts and 6 images submitted.
>>
>>8846368
Just re-sleeve already
>>
"Curvature" in this context means intrinsic curvature -- angles of triangles not adding up to 180 degrees etc.
>>
>>8846368
It is not an analogy. Spacetime is actually curving. But Spacetime is not 2D, so that picture is not accurate.

Tectonic plates is probably the weakest theory still widely believed.

I'll actually have to read that paper. It's not beyond the pale for the theory to be either wrong or woefully understood.

On an intuitive level, plate tectonics seems to gel in with the existence of mountains, volcanism, and the jigsaw shape of continents.

But intuitive doesn't mean true.

I'm graduating with a degree in geology in 2 weeks. So I've learned a lot that the public may be unaware of over the years.

Here's an image made from seismic imaging data of an actual plate subducting. Any theory you propose that denies plate tectonics must address this evidence.

Best of luck to you. lol

>that guy who always complains about the course not being "hard" or "challenging" enough when everyone else is struggling

Why do they do this? Aren't they satisfied with their perfect GPAs and "best undergraduate of the year" awards if they find the course so "easy"? Or is it just an ego trip?

is there any reason to go to college other than the easy ego trip?

if you were actually intelligent you would just start a successful entrepreneurial venture. might as well pay for a piece of paper that says "I'm smart!" if you can't do that.

Have you considered asking them instead? But really, who gives a shit, mind your own studies.

Any chemists here? I'm pursuing a BS in chem eng, but I'm finding that while I can do the work for the classes just fine, I don't really like the eng. I'd rather be a labrat then stuck doing some petroleum/lumber product development.

If I finished my BS in ChemEng, would I run into any problems if I tried to go grad school for Chem since Chemeng requires more math/eng and less hardcore chem.
14 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
Depends on what you're doing and how much chemistry they're drilling into you in chem eng. That's usually a solid foundation for you to do learning in your own time. Pinch the notes from the later year undergrad chemistry courses from someone/somewhere.

Industrial Chemistry fag here - stuck between the world of chem and chem eng so they rape me with the worst of both and I walk out with an engineering degree.

Sophomore ChemE here

Two semesters of organic chemistry and a semester of physical chemistry are the prereqs at my school. Analytical chemistry is probably the only thing you're missing out on as a ChemE.

Any company hiring chemical engineers most likely has an R&D division. Go work for one of those and they'll pay for you to go to grad school for chemistry.

Going to grad school for chemistry right after getting your Bsc is gonna make it harder to get employed and you'll be in way more debt.

>If I finished my BS in ChemEng, would I run into any problems if I tried to go grad school for Chem since Chemeng requires more math/eng and less hardcore chem.

nah, just talk to your advisor and have him recommend the proper electives that would set you up for grad school success.

getting the engineering degree for your undergrad is smart. consider it career insurance in case you go bust in academia, you can still pay the bills and have a comfy middle class life.

Doesn't work. Doesn't explain the observed dark matter signals in the CMB. Also, for other reasons, we have good estimates on the amount of normal matter in the universe, which means it cannot be black holes made from normal matter.

Negative mass is kinda like magnetic monopoles. It doesn't exist, but that doesn't mean it can't exist.
>>
>>8846272
From what I understand, current physics doesn't explicitly forbid negative mass.
>>
>>8846285

not until we begin teaching logic in elementary school in place of mathematics(math is a branch of logic) will this renaissance occur.

and the amount of "geniuses" will forever remain static as a percentage of the population, because it is a relative term.

Everybody here knows that psychology and sociology are bunk sciences. I can't even trust what my professors tell me about studies. Since it's easier to believe them if you seem it with your eyes, is there a database of videos actually showing all of the psychology experiments being done?

Literally look on pubmed, behavioral psychologists will often attach videos for their publications that have results nobody would believe without replicating them (and people will still replicate them before they believe it).

Of course, if you weren't too much of a brainlet to do a quick pubmed search or look up the journal of visualized experiments, you would know this.

You're not really going to find videos of human experiments for ethics reasons.
