Given that World War 3 is threatening to break out, is there a nuclear warning system people can use?
>>8853082
Yes.
>>8853085
Thanks!

Welcome.
Why are normies so obsessed with "Quantum Physics"? As soon as I mention I'm studying pure mathematics I always get asked "Oh but anon what do you think of XYZ in Quantum Theory?" What's with this shit? Aren't even actual physicists tired of this meme?
yes they are, nobody really has given a shit about quantum fundamentals since 20s-30s or so
>>8852988
But anon! What do you think of string theory and the Higgs boson xdddd
Does this mean aliens are visiting the Earth?
Haha Sheldor XD
Is consciousness an operating system of the brain? Is it something more than that? Does it have mass? Does it exist in more dimensions than our body? Are we even sure it exists?
Check out "The Soul Hypothesis" book.
It might open your mind to the possibilities of other ways of thinking about awareness.
"If the mind could benunderstood simply, we'd be too simple to understand it"
Consciousness is Consciousness.
What does /sci/ thing about natural/alternative medicine?
>pic unrelated

If they worked, they'd just be called "medicine".

fpbp
>>8852199
It's not that simple, exercise also works and we consider it a separate discipline.
>you aren't as smart as von Neumann
What is the point of even trying? I feel like a brainlet just looking at him
>>8852163
I want to kill myself
Why do I even try? I can't even learn 1+1
>>8852446
well, do as von neumann says: you don't understand anything in math, you just get used to it
Hilbert wasn't nearly as smart as Von Neumann, still did more tho.
Why is David Hilbert always grumpy?

What is the only respectable science field and why is it medicine?
>>8851774
No, it's women studies.
>>8851774
Medicine isn't a field of science you walking sack of failure and AIDS.

We create a see in the desert with all the broken off ice this way we prevent flooding of coastal areas and loss of significant land mass.

That's the bad part of it, that's why it smells.

Is university not worth it even for STEM? Can someone just read a bunch of textbooks, take mock GRE tests and shit like that and get hired as some researcher? I'm serious. Can someone do this? My college classes seem like a huge waste of time
>>8851124
in principle yes
in practice you need interaction with peers and mentors to develop many of the insights and skills that the field requires, and to gain a taste for how to learn. this could technically be read from books, but it just doesn't work the same for most people. it's a shot in the dark.
sounds like your college is shit imo
>>8851159
>sounds like your college is shit imo
it's a community college, although a "top rated" community college. apparently, we're one of the best in the country. I feel like I could just read this shit by myself and save the money. I already read my own textbooks outside of class so I practically do it already.

Why doesn't Earth have any comfy little nearby moons?
That big far away one we're stuck with is lame af
>>8851056
because the big one disrupt the orbits of any small moons that we could get
>>8851056
Cuz it's yuge. Earth moon is so yuge. One of the biggest. It actually is the biggest relative to a planet's size in the entire solar system. It's a great moon.
>ugly asteroid looking bullshit
yeah not thanks, I'll our pretty white round moon any day
Specific technical question involving neurophysiology: how much time do synaptic receptors from serotonine and dopamine regulation systems need to recover their normal function pre-meds after the last dosage of an atypical antipsychotic such as risperidone or aripiprazole, taken during several months at standard dosages?
>>8850842
After some months of drug use? Several weeks is my estimate. I'm not an 100% expert however.
>>8850842
Depending on the potency of the drug, it can take anywhere between 5days to 2weeks for the brain to become normalized again. I've not heard of a case where there still exists an imbalance after 2 weeks.
>>8850842
Considering all antipsychotics can cause permanent tardive dyskinesia, possibly never.
