Why there are so many faggots crying about OChem?
I'm studying it in my free time and it's fun as fuck to learn nomenclature and classify shit.
It really feels like real-life Pokemon.

Irrational numbers. infinite zecimals right?
I always get the feeling that multiplying an irrational number with another number (any number) , you get infinite. what do you think?

Will we ever see a cure for HIV, herpes, baldness (and I guess STDs and cancer in general)?

I was having a hard time keeping my focus while studying for the upcoming exams, so I started to drink coffee before studying sessions a month ago. It worked pretty well for me, I managed to ace the analysis exams, but I've developed a dependence, so I can't even get out of the bed without popping 500mg in the morning anymore. I have analytical geometry exams coming up next week, so I CANNOT afford to stop cold turkey, and I can't taper down. Anything less than 500mg and I become a dysfunctional zombie.

Anyways, the problem is that I'm burned out and not even caffeine helps anymore. I can follow the lectures in the morning pretty well, but I get so fucking tired by the afternoon that I can't study at all, I get a throbbling headache and get depressed and suicidal until I lay down to sleep. If I continue like that, I will fucking fail my exams.

Any caffeine fags around here who are experienced with this shit? I need some fucking advice man, and don't redirect me to >>>/adv/, those guys are fucking retards and don't even know what it takes to study math ffs

You're funny. You simply don't need to make anything with that kind of math unless you are a total faggot trying to use some meme-tier "neural network, bro!". To get better at programming you simply need constantly work on programming projects that test your ability/push your limits (IE, something you have to read heavy documentation for). If you refuse to do this you won't get better you will be a shitty programmer forever
>>
>>8932806
That's too abstract, I think, to really be reasonable. Sure, maybe it can help you figure out a more efficient path, but 90% of all the bad code out there is that way just because of a lack of common sense. I think this is way overthinking it.

Here are my *sign* hard-learned tips:
>look at what others have done for real projects.
>don't be averse to following standards
>for the love of god, not everything needs to be a damned class
>think in terms of data structure, not algorithms. Algorithms are easy to change later, but changing data structure is much harder-- get that as close to right as you can the first time.

>>8932814
That in and of itself isn't enough. Lots of people think the way to be a "good programmer" is to write TONS of fucking code, wrap every instance variable behind a getter and setter, also they make everything a fucking class. Do you want to perpetuate the Java scourge? Because that's how you perpetuate the Java scourge.

>>8932806

It's over, we're finished. As an American, I can say that math education over here is crap. I know so little, I'm so clumsy in math compared to my Chinese and Singaporean classmates that it's a travesty.

Can we discuss this? Clearly this is why it works:

>Compared to a traditional U.S. math curriculum, Singapore math focuses on fewer topics but covers them in greater detail. Each semester-level Singapore math textbook builds upon prior knowledge and skills, with students mastering them before moving on to the next grade. Students, therefore, need not re-learn these skills at the next grade level. By the end of sixth grade, Singapore math students have mastered multiplication and division of fractions and can solve difficult multi-step word problems.

>In the U.S., it was found that Singapore math emphasizes the essential math skills recommended in the 2006 Focal Points publication by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM), the 2008 final report by the National Mathematics Advisory Panel, and the proposed Common Core State Standards, though it generally progresses to topics at an earlier grade level compared to U.S. standards.

Name one Singaporean mathematician without looking up. Case closed.
>>
>>8927824
I guess I didn't state what I mean, but almost every single Singaporean and Chinese is fluent in basic mathematics, and they can do it effortlessly, without a calculator. They all make A's in college math courses because they've either already learned it, or their basics are so strong they can proceed right into it without any review or hesitation.

>define a set [math]^*\mathbb{R} = \mathbb{R} \cup \{\epsilon, -\epsilon\}[/math] that extends all the first-order operators and axioms (i.e. all axioms except the completeness axiom) as if [math]\epsilon, -\epsilon[/math] were real variables
>define an unsurprising axiom [math]-(\epsilon) = -\epsilon[/math]
>define a function [math]\mathbb{st}(^*x) = \lim_{\epsilon \to 0^+} \lim_{-\epsilon \to 0^-} {}^*x \in \mathbb{R}[/math]
Is this not an easy construction of the theory of the hyperreals? I'm thinking I must be missing something, since it wasn't particularly hard to come up with. This is essentially a formal summary of my rudimentary understanding of hyperreal numbers so bear with me if I've overlooked things. I can perform differentiation and take limits in general successfully and I find it much more intuitive with a better notation.

Why do so few people understand how amazing the universe is?

Can't have a good universe discussion with anyone without 'that's nice, anon'.

I mean seriously, it's like Narnia on steroids except it's real and all around us.
22 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
However the universe is amazing or not is an emotional evaluation and thus subjective. Therefore you cannot accuse others for not "understanding" it.
>>
>>8934245
I mean I can if they know nothing about it. That's the literal definition of not understanding it. Nice try though Professor.
>>
>>8934239
>>8934239
what exactly do you mean by understanding it?
Because it is completely subjective.

As a physicist I can say yeah, the laws of our universe are pretty cool but they aren't by any means amazing. Yet you boast that you understand the entire universe and claim that it is amazing.

Why not lay off the drugs for a bit?
