A lot of non-physics/math/engineering courses have """calculus""" classes that are actually just like basic algebra and graphing with maybe a dash of derivatives and what they mean at some point.

wondering if anyone would be interested in giving me a pointer.
I've been trying to make progress in learning DSP the past few days and I'm finding it extremely... unproductive.
feels like I'm making zero progress and I just feel fucking lost almost constantly. the math. the math. I feel like I could be more prepared, or more ready for this.
like reading book in pic related ... I've read the same things over and over, covered the Fourier Transform and complex sinusoids to some extent, but it just isn't feeling confident or like it's working. idk. it feels like it isn't connected.
I mean some of it registers. some. but there are big gaps in my understanding which I just kind of feel like I'm not sure exactly what I am missing or doing wrong.
I see other people talk about the material and it seems like they pick it up quickly and easily, whereas for me, it feels like I am missing something in how I approach it or something. like I just am not prepared or something or have missed something.
any pointers are genuinely needed. thanks guys.
I think it has to do with my issues with math. I haven't done much since I was younger. calculus in high school.
I have some problems with math for some reason. it just feels like it's REALLY hard for me where other subjects are easy and don't take so long for me to understand. math seems quite time consuming to move through where I would like to be able to kind of get where I want ... efficiently.
efficiently. it feels like it isn't as productive a learning experience as it should be honestly.

I know a little bit about electricity not much. But, I do study a lot independently.
Think about the way you use the word "understand". I assume you mean you're gaining the knowledge to calculate and predict electronic signals mathematically on paper.
Are you spending more time reading than doing exercises.
Look at one thing that is confusing you. Diagram out the equation, its variables and there factors. Maybe try utilizing a bit of visual special thinking and finding some good reference materials. Is there a Digital Signal processing handbook. Not some crap one but a no shit reliable document that professionals use. I'll try to find one.
I know machinery's handbook has a guide to go along with it. Heres this

to go further in the uncropped full speed section you can even see the guy's finger go in the other guy's pocket, and then when its cropped that detail is conveniently missing so it looks like he's grabbing at nothing.
an honest mistake and not a disingenuous attempt to bait unsuspecting people into a conspiracy i'm sure!

This is what I thought at first, but you can clearly see him tug at nothing and the shirt move in response. He then slides his hand down afterwards.
/sci/ can't prove that all even numbers can be represented as the sum of two primes

https://www.facebook.com
/healthhacks.be/videos/1792829744328598
I'm pretty sure the primary ingredient in sunblock is zinc. The other stuff is just there so that you don't absorb the zinc through your skin quicker (not that it matters, it wouldn't be enough to do anything to you). Coconut oil is just there for smell, olive oil there for ease of application, dunno what essential oil is, but you don't need it
>>8954208
wait, what happens if you absorb zinc?
>>8954228
Absorbing any metal in huge amounts will have some adverse affect or another. But you'd literally have to be bathing in pure zinc for 40 hours to absorb enough to have any effect.
The zinc is what is absorbing the UV rays and breaking down. The oil is there to suspend it above your skin so that its actually doing its job instead of just being absorbed

How much math have you already taken? There are some books that start from the ground up, others assume that you've already seen the physics side and just need the tools.
Also mathematical physics for what exactly? String theory, qft, condensed matter, acoustics, gr, seismic, or just something very general? How far do you want to go, i.e. learning techniques for solving pdes or learning gauge theory?

Does anybody have any good recommendations for a geometry book for an adult self-learner?
I got up to Calculus in high school, but never took any math courses after that but I would like to begin studying math again on my own, just for fun and self-improvement.
All the books I've found are either too basic and obviously meant for high school age kids, or start out a little too advanced.
I started with pic related, but it was a little over my head.
>>8952237
>>8952237
There are lots of different types of geometry textbooks and you're going to have to be more specific as to what you mean.
Assuming you're talking about an introductory book to the topic, there is a great book called Foundations of Geometry by Venema. That book teaches geometry from an axiomatic approach and spends time talking about models of axioms as well as covering a bit of non-euclidean and incidence geometry. The book begins from basic principles so no background is needed.

Titles? This is relevant for my needs
Sup /sci/, I'm not normally a regular poster here, but I think science is usually right about shit. Thing is, recently I've been wondering about something and I don't know who to ask.
Biologically, is there any evidence that women's vaginas get less tight in proportion to how much sex they have, or with number of sex partners or anything like that? Because it sounds like bullshit to me, but it also sounds plausible. If what little science I know has taught me anything, it's that if you feel even remotely 'iffy' about your own knowledge and have to rely on
>common sense
you're probably an idiot and need to ask someone.
I would ask some science focussed website, but they might just lie to me because liberals. I would ask /r9k/ and /pol/, but they're not gonna be straight with me for similar reasons.
So what's the deal, /sci/? I'll never have sex, but I'm curious now.
There's definitely a temporary effect. Vaginas get looser as they get accustomed to sex again, but once they stop it'll go away. I don't know if it's just the girl relaxing more since she's comfortable doing it again, or if it's something else though.
source: couple girls I know who become quite tight after not getting fucked for a month or longer, until they get used to it again

Stretching is probably based on frequency of super happy penetration time and size of penetrating object.
You'd probably need to be more concerned about whether or not she masturbates with the biggest possible dildo she can find or if all of her boyfriends have been hung like horses.
My basis for this theory is that we all know the vagina stretches depending on the size of the penetrating object and that it doesn't tighten back up immediately. It can take weeks to return to maximum tightness, from what I've experienced. Therefore, frequent penetration would mean that the vagina would never have time to return to base tightness.
Now I'm just guessing here, but I figure the larger the object, the longer it takes to return to base tightness, with the possibility of semi-permanent stretching if the object is large enough. This is based on that I've heard giving birth can cause semi-permanent stretching due to such a large object.
Now I say semi permanent because there is also the possibility of them doing kegels or whatever the name of the vagina exercise is, which I believe increases tightness.
So, to summarize, in theory, only frequent penetration by large objects should have a significant impact on tightness from the perspective of somebody with an average sized dick, but vagina exercises could probably alleviate some, if not all of the stretching.
There are other factors too like variation in base tightness, arousal, etc...
But I'm no scientist, this just seems like the most reasonable analysis from what I've experienced and what I've heard that seems true based on what I know to be true.
