Anyone have any insight on this subject?
How do you find both the escape velocity and radius of the event horizon using general relativity? The equation used for both escape velocity and the Schwarzschild radius
v=sqrt(2GM/r) and r=2GM/c^2
does not work.
Pic relate
>>8955351
you can use r = 2GM/c^2
>>8955754
That equation is a product of Newtonian mechanics. It isn't applicable to relativity.
>>8955769
give this a go
v^2 = c^2 * (Rs/R)
I always used the Newtonian one when I was at uni. (Rs is swartzchild radius) You can derive it from the relativistic energy formula as well as the one for radius
Hey guys curious to know your thoughts on the interviews and docs on the site below for ET life and high scientific technology/principles...it kind of demands some attention given the people coming forward I would guess? www.siriusdisclosure.com
What are some sites or programs that will completely walk me through a problem? Something like math staxechange for non math majors.

Wolframalpha sometimes gives step-by-step solutions, for improved access you'll need to (((pay))).
>>8955156
u dont need to
>https://sandbox.open.wolframcloud.com
Go by a schaums outline for whatever subject you're on.
Chegg also has a homework section that is similar to what you want.
Wolfram alpha also has a pay option.
Or just go to office hours like a true brainlet.
What future does it have?
Why is it so popular?
Why is it such a joke?
Also, any YLYL-esque images like Michio Cuckold or Bill Nye.
>>8955011
>Why is it such a joke?
Because modern "physics" is philosophically corrupt. If Newton saw this shitshow he wouldnt believe his eyes (particles that are nothing in particular, rejecting Aristotles laws of logic, etc).
>terrible grader at a state school
how do I deal with this?
>inb4 you're trash
literally writing math notation a previous grader/professor wanted will get you 10 points marked off a test with this grader.
The math department in my school is awful and bad graders are ruining all of our GPA. What can we do?
>>8954608
What was he trying to convey with that pose?
>>8955230
He's a big guy.
>>8954608
learn the notation that your grader prefers.
Why can't we apply Cantor's diagonal slash argument to the integers?
>>8954603
So the positional numeral system can represent more integers than actually exist? An infinite random string of digits 0-9 would not be an actual integer? Spooky.
>>8954630
What meaning can we give to these numbers?
is there a software where I can just define the variables, give them a value, type an expression and solve it without having to do fancy shit for summations?
>>8954558
SageMath can, although I'm not completely sure what you're asking. Example?
>>8954564
I need to calculate the value of p0 in pic related for different set of values of the variables
>>8954572
My TI-84 could do that, there's probably an online version somewhere.
Where can I find good resources to learn about Green's functions? Frankly my textbook is garbage in explaining this (also doesn't have too many practice problems) and the professor is a tremendous douchebag.
>>8954548
Green functions are to physics as impulse responses are to LTI systems
>>8954584
Okay, but I'm not studying physics I'm studying math and I have to pass this course.
I thought programming would be the best job for me because I liked using logic to solve problems so I applied for the best faculty in my country that could make me a programmer but failed to get in so I got redistributed to transports and logistics. That was one year ago and now I have the option to continue this
faculty or apply again to the faculty I wanted to get in (they won't let me transfer because the subjects are too different). People are telling me that redoing year one isn't worth it and that I should study programming on my own ,so I wanted to ask:
can I get a programming job that pays me as much and lets me progress in the field as someone who studied programming in a faculty with hard work but without being a genius?
It would seem to me that there are jobs that need you to know the math and theoetical results that mathematicians or computer scientists know.
For example programming for a bank seems to be one of the jobs that pays pretty well, but I think they need to have their shit together to get in (as in cryptography and operating systems).

Those actually came up in discussions I had with my family and professors ,could I take some special courses or is my only option to teach myself?
Someone pls respond
I need someone that understands combinatorial calculus to help me. I can't understand why I'm wrong. The situation is the following
The prime minister will be represented by three of his seven assistants on some event.
Person A, person B and person C are some of his 7 assistants.
What's the probability of persons ABC being chosen to represent the prime minister?
My resolution is
3C3/7C3
The answer is 1/7
I don't get it
>>8954518
kek~
I'm sure the answer should be 1/35
I am looking for information on shell and tube type heat exchanger design and practical physical limitations. Specifically with regards to manufacturing limitations.
(For example, I have read through http://www.chemstations.com/content/documents/Technical_Articles/shell.pdf and it did not have what I was looking for.)
There is a lot of information available on Google but my interests are specific and time limited. So I am hoping someone out there can point me in the direction of a a handful of recommended resources.
Who here uses Gaussian? What kind of compounds are you guys modeling?
>tfw no server with 420 core switches
cc-pvtz takes eons to complete
/sci/, is stuff like abstract algebra, analysis, topology, etc. useful in applied sciences?
What I mean is, if I wanted to make a breakthrough discovery in the EE/CS field (specifically, computer architecture), should I be focusing on learning higher math, rather than studying a variety of EE or programming techniques?
>>8954452
studying math is a lot like lifting. are you ever going to deadlift or squat something in real life? probably not. are those lifts still going to build functional muscle thats useful in other physical pursuits? yes.
>>8954464
right, and i get that. that's why every ECE learns basic linalg, euler's formulas, fourier / Z transforms, curl/divergence theorems, diff eq's, probability, etc.
what im wondering is about the more abstract maths.
if i spend time learning abstract algebra, am i doing the lifting equivalent of wrist curls while staring in the mirror?
>>8954452
A lot of higher math (especially topology) gets used in current research with machine learning algorithms.
You could try CompEng, especially robotic learning and cybernetics in the bio-tech industry is a big industry for applying higher math to optimized designs.
What would happen to Mars if we moved Phobos and Deimos closer to it? say as close as they are in pic related. Would it help or hinder terraforming efforts?
>big fucking moon keeps blocking satellite connectivity
>>8954421
they would never look that big unless they were in the atmosphere, phobos and demios are tiny
if they were too close in they would be within the roche limit and would disintegrate. this is already happening with phobos I believe, though due to composition and tidal forces, not due to being too close.
