sup guys. i run a factory in downtown LA and i am having issues with a new customer of mine. the fabric i am using is woven that has the same composition of a potato sack. if i can solve this issue for my client i will get all of their business and i am willing to pay. here is the TLDR of the problem lets say i cut a 10x10 square it comes out perfect, but as soon as you try to fold it in half it is very off shape. i know the issue is that the fabric essentialy has no body and is not stable. i am wondering if any /sci/ peeps might have an idea of what i could do to this fabric.
-thanks!

IDK, try putting a sewn crosshatch through it at a 45-degree angle to the weave.

I'm in this class for the summer and it's over $125 for this book. I can't seem to find a pdf I can download for it. I've been using the popular search engines to check. I would really appreciate it, I would have to sell it back to then and get nothing for it. Thanks!

Google Library genesis and then go to the one that says gen lib rus

On the search bar look for: Sherri Messersmith

The book is right there. Just pick a mirror.

Did I post before the bingo image and >>>/x/ recommendation?

If so, nice. That poster's usually damn fast on these threads.

Singularity is an umbrella term, so there's no way to say it will or will not. It's just supposed to be the point where our ability to research and apply new developments begins to result in returns at an accelerating rate beyond which past speculation is pointlessly inaccurate.

Kurzweil marks it as the point in which a single computer will have more computational power than all the currently living people on the planet's brains. That might happen, but we nowhere near it currently.
>>
>>8975717
When quantum computing will have developed far enough and machine learning reached a high enough level. Currently we could only do simple arithmetic on quantum computers, and machine learning is used for really really narrow applications right now. Even then... how will we know the singularity has happened?
>>
>>8975717
I believe that Singularity is not possible. For what I'm going to argument I define Intelligence as "inference and deduction" (this is an over simplification but follow me).

The AI Singularity theory proposes that at one point when we create a machine capable slightly more intelligent than any human could, this machine could then create something more intelligent than it and so on creating this so called infinity intelligent machine.

For that to happen intelligence would have to be unbound, and I think that intelligence is actually bounded, that is, there is a limit A on the rate of inference and deduction any machine (biological or otherwise) could archive.

Suppose we have a machine M with X spatial computational power and Y temporal computational power (that is, how much and how fast it can make computations) I think that any optimal inference and deduction strategy is independent of X and Y.

This is observed in biology, the rate of evolution is independent to the size of the population and speed of reproduction.

You are /sci/ the most knowledgeable board on 4chan next to /tg/.

So I can only ask you and you alone 4 important questions which must be answered separately in depth.

How would you go about technical indirect murder?
How would you copy 33% of the answers at a bachelor's examen?
What is the most sociable and peaceful land to live in?
You have 900 million dollars and you have to spend all of it in 10 years. What do you spend it on?

Why is it that when I am working with a physicist, and they say something I don't understand, and after asking them about it, they manage to produce a imaginable and productive analogy about it; but when with mathematicians, they never seem to be able to translate their own speech to any other shape, as if they'd memorized a poem about something very important being fully able to recite it with profound stature but never really realizing what the poem is supposed to mean. I just sometimes get the feeling these mathematicians don't really understand at all to what parts of reality their estranged contraptions (that may work on paper and in "proofs" (whatever that means)) correspond to.

Or just bad at explaining, because he doesn't understand it himself. Being productive and lawful is what matters in business; that "self-worth and identity through intelligence" is your personal business and a minor factor in business decisions and processes.

/sci/ I need help.
Basically I followed a course which covers basics of signal theory and fundamentals of radar design.
I have to make a simulation in matlab about one or more aspects of radar design and/or application (possibly in aerospace field but not mandatory) but I have no idea what to do.
Our professor already gave us some sample code which implements some basics (.
Got any suggestion and reference material?
I'm into aero so I have very basic knoledge of telecommunications and information theory, it shouldnt be too difficult.

Studies have shown that there is a time observation difference between small and big objects.
Study:
https://www.theguardian.com/science/2013/sep/16/time-passes-slowly-flies-study

What if, in case of quantum entanglement, the particle we are trying to observe has different/faster perception of time. For that particle, everything is in slow motion. Hence, once observed, it moves to the other possition so quickly and when we observe, it changes its values to counter its previous one. For example, a switch, it can have only one value at a time when interacting with, but can only observe the possition to counter its previous one. Currently it's 1, but then when interacted with, changes the value to 0. and when again interacted, it gets the value 1 which is counter to the previous.

It is the case with Earth and a Blackhole. The structure of a blackhole is quite huge compared what earth is and, if we go down below, compared to a human. Hence for us the time moves faster compared to the blackhole. (Interstaller movie, when while visiting the blackhole's horizon, the time starts moving slowly for them. They entered the blackhole's time observation zone.

Assumption:
1. The assumption I made here is that, we can't exactly tell that we have generated two distinguishable particles. It is possible for one particle to move its own possition so quickly that we can not observe the change and observe it as two different particles.
(Flash TV series, the episode in which the reverse flash and Harrison Wells were seen as two different people. But in the end we knew that they were absolutely one person, he was moving so fast that he was creating two different images of himself. Reverse flash was moving so rapidly because him time perception was too high compared to a normal human being. (Compare it to the flies study shown above). So with this example, we can put a reasonable doubt on whether we can absolutely tell that we have generated two distinguishable particles.)

I'm not a very well informed person in the field of science and trying to learn a few concepts. Quantum mechanics especially interests me, I've been studying it since last 6 months. This question popped up in the mind. I wouldn't ask if I knew that people here don't actually point out the mistake instead just trash the OP without proper reasoning.
Thank you ^^

How do I know whether my inability to solve a particular math problem is due to lack of practice or low IQ?

I'm re-learning high-school algebra (doing precalculus) after a long break and sometimes I come across a problem that I can't solve, only to look at the answer and realize how obvious it was. Makes me feel like a true brainlet.

Pretty easy. Find a solution and read it.

Case 1:
>Oh, I could have done that. I was even thinking about it but I thought it would be too complicated to actually yield a solution, Oh well, lesson learned.

Then you are still safe.

>What the fuck? How can this problem even be interpreted that way? What? How? Wait, when was that given? What?

Confirmed 2 digit IQ, will never make it.

Why do they use literally one of the most slippery substances for the floor of the shower/bath?

Surely there is a better material for water resistance/longevity/grip than what we are still using today.

Every time I shower I have to use a bit of skill to balance, and when I slip it's actually really scary.

TLDR: Why are modern showers/baths slippery death traps? What material can we use instead?
4 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
Smooth surfaces are easier to clean, and any roughness will encourage microorganism growth. Most people don't have much of a problem with standing on wet ceramic or fiberglass. My feet are grippy enough that I've never slipped in a shower, maybe you have less foot traction to work with than most.

A bath mat might help. Just replace it every few months, and clean it weekly. Also consider installing a hand rail as a more clean and permanent solution.
>>
>>8975282
The slipperiness is usually biofilm and/or soap scum. It can make any surface pretty damn slick. Try scrubbing the floor for a minute before each shower/bath. Just toss a plastic pot scrubber on the floor and scrub away using your foot.

Make sure to rinse your feet really well after you've put soap on them for scrubbing. Leaving soap scum behind will make them super slick.

>What material can we use instead?

Spray adhesive + a sprinkle of sand. Great for showers, but shitty for tubs if you sit down in them.
>>
>>8975282
Use sandals
