So when there's detectors on the slits, it won't make a wave like pattern? Why? What particles are the detectors detecting? Why does it prove lights wave-particle duality?

Energy and matter are the same thing, but energy doesn't become matter until it is observed by a human person.

>A prime number is a positive integer p that has exactly two unique divisors: 1 and p.

Why don't we use this definition of prime numbers? It seems less arbitrary than constraining the definition to numbers greater than 1. I thought mathematicians liked beauty and all that.

Mathematicians like definitions that can be generalized to work for several algebraic structures.
Talking about numbers greater than 1 requires your ring to have some sort of order relation which only few rings have.

Don't we technically have an infinite time of consciousness, since we can only think and ponder such questions WITH consciousness?

As in, all we will ever know is life, we don't experience anything else, so this life is infinite for us.

There has to be a fucking philosophy board made, so the scatter-headed paint huffers can have their own sandbox to play in and stop shitting up this place with their 2deem4u word salad shite.
I almost thought you want to talk about the real possibility of being able to speed up human thoughts to the point where you could effectively perceive time as almost standing still at will, but nooo, it's another fucking philosophy thread.

How is consciousness infinite if when we die we will have no awareness that it ever happened?

This is not true.
Both "cultures" (if you can call dozens of discrete cultural groups single, monolithic cultures) have prevailing social philosophies, and nothing more.

If you read up on Rationalism and the Hindu notion of Brahman, as well as its Buddhist counterpart, you'll find that the Rationalism the West is very proud of came about centuries earlier in the East and that Hinduism and Buddhism are both based on the idea that you cannot trust your senses, that humans are biased, and that reason alone is the only way to arrive at true, a priori knowledge.

Islam is mostly anti-science because a lot of their sects decided God's Law trumps man's law therefore Shariah is all the "critical thinking" one needs.

Aside from that, the West and the East are both about the same in terms of reason vs spirituality.

Been curious about ZPE since I heard of it, watched some of Hutchison's videos and was amazed/incredibly skeptical. Heard him throw around the term a few times. He seems kind of like the person that either stumbled across something incredible, or he's faking it for publicity. Also saw this video. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YKfFt9aS9dc) messaged him on facebook about it, and got no reply.
So, /sci/... Zero point energy. A falsehood, or a possibly groundbreaking discovery?
(If it's the latter, I wouldn't complain if there were a few explanations thrown around. I'm not the brightest.)

Where is the video of this device being tested objectively? If you have an honest to god ZPE generator, simply have it tested at a university by being locked in a room by university faculty while being livestreamed on the internet and have it power those lightbulbs for one whole week.

This is just absurd quackery.
>>

In a document filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Darwin Life, incorporated at the same New York City location as Zhang’s clinic, said it had raised $1 million in an initial round of funding. Zhang declined to identify the investors.

Because of that regulatory red tape, Zhang says Darwin Life will continue making embryos in the U.S. but will perform the medical procedures at New Hope’s clinic in Guadalajara, Mexico, or in other countries he believes will embrace the idea.

“For now, our nuclear transfer technique is very much like an iPhone that’s designed in California and assembled in China,” he says.

Zhang’s breakaway plans don’t stop at spindle nuclear transfer. He says a future step will be to combine the technique with editing genes, so that parents can select hair or eye color, or maybe improve their children’s IQ.

“Everything we do is a step toward designer babies,” Zhang says of Darwin Life. “With nuclear transfer and gene editing together, you can really do anything you want.”

However, I hope the US won't use some propaganda or something to brainwash people to not buy the designer babies or related.

It depends. Data science is a relatively broad term. If you mean marketing team that does "data science" by looking at a spreadsheet and deciding what sold more, then no. If you mean a computer engineer who's using data science to more efficiently program an ALU, or write a kernel or something, then ya, it's a science.
>>
>>8979344
This
Refining, adding to and using the Scientific Method can be considered employing 'Data Science' too. Many words have multiple meanings, depending on who is using them and the context. In fact, most words in all fields of anything (STEM, humanities, etc), have formally-defined, technical meanings, and more general meanings that outside of those fields, you would readily use in very different ways. Like 'force' or 'energy' or 'logic', for basic examples.

>If you mean marketing team that does "data science" by looking at a spreadsheet and deciding what sold more, then no.
Not a data sciencefag but those people typically create statistical models that attempt to interpret large amounts of data. The interpretation you gave in your post is laughably wrong.

Nowadays disciplines like Machine Learning are sometimes also considered a part of data science even though they originated in computer science/artificial intelligence. Though often the data science people have a better grasp of the statistical theory side of things while the computer science people have a better grasp of the theory in general.

Why have humans evolved to find animals with lower food chain positions to be "cute" (meant for protection) if we are omnivorous predators?

Could it be a natural feature that helps the ecosystem remain in equilibrium, which would otherwise collapse because of our tremendous superiority?

Look at the downside of things.

If you dont do it, you will never become (whatever it is that you wish for yourself).

Al thought most people talk about acquiring discipline, willpower, strength to do, its very difficult to get on track and actually - do -.

So perhaps you can, perhaps you cannot. Perhaps what you need to get the train going is a crisis. Not being close to the edge, but actually on the abyss. One could guess most people get their shit together once that happens?

Either way, its that simple. You attempt to acquire control of who you are. Or you don't and wait for the crisis to hit, maybe that will get you up?
