Increase meat and milk price.
Stop telling people to eat 1 kg of meat per day and to drink milk.
Decrease production to fit the demand.
Problem solved.

How do we fix psychology so it actually has the standards of the rest of the science fields?
Right now it's more philosophy than actual science.
So far some of the issues I have noticed in the field are
>Lack of repeatability in experiments
>Journals only want to publish positive results but rarely want to post negative results which are just as important
>Bullshit undefined terms with bullshit tests to prove something but not actually defined: Ex "modern racism tests or "modern racism" which is literal terms in psychology which is used to call people racist or prejudice based on definitions that the test makers decide"
>lack of biological or genetic understanding in the field in general

>>
why even bother. Neuroscience is more rigorous
>>
>>8998760
Because Psychology has the sway of other sciences but without the standards to actually see if it's right or not. Imagine if say chemistry or biology were like that, imagine destructive that would be. On the other hand right now we have entire subfields of psychology that are literal bullshit. It warps the way we look at humanity.
>>
>>8998760
If Neuroscience starts getting results and factual explanations about the brain and human behavior do you think Psychology should be taken out of the picture or just to be reestructurated?

there are no aliens. we hardly know of any planets at temperatures that can theoretically support life... and temperature is just one of thousands of things that have to be just right for life to thrive.

No other planet has a combination of all of these things.

>b-but anon there are so many planets, muh random chance says all those things must exist somewhere

it would be like planting a potato and having it genetically mutate to grow a functioning iPhone in the ground with iOS 11 already installed. not gonna happen.

Why should space aliens have to be alive?
We're only familiar with a very specific kind of intelligent chemical machine that expresses an inclination toward self preservation and propagation: the one we call "life." But perhaps, even if unique in structure, it's not unique in function.
There may be other such machines not even made of cells. Perhaps they've evolved a different kind of intelligence from ours, and consequently don't even have brains. Their senses might differ from ours, and we might even be unable to detect them, if they're very large, very small, very slow, very fast, or not made of matter as we know it.
Are there intelligence-like patterns out there even in things we're familiar with -- in places we've never even thought to check?
Are rocks intelligent (but just very slowly so)?
Are galaxies intelligent?
>>

Why would aliens have to look and live like us?
>>
i think we can all agree that if life DOES somehow exist on other planets, they will have potatos and iphones, both fundamental ideas woven into the fabric of our universe

During the 1850s, opium addiction was a major problem in the United States. The “solution” was to provide opium addicts with a less potent and supposedly “non-addictive” substitute—morphine. Morphine addiction soon became a bigger problem than opium addiction.

As with opium, the morphine problem was solved by another “non-addictive” substitute—heroin, which proved to be even more addictive than morphine. With the heroin problem came yet another “non-addictive” substitute—the drug now known as methadone. First developed in 1937 by German scientists searching for a surgical painkiller, it was exported to the US and given the trade name “Dolophine” in 1947. Renamed methadone, the drug was soon being widely used as a treatment for heroin addiction. Unfortunately, it proved to be even more addictive than heroin.

By the late 1990s, the mortality rate of heroin addicts was estimated to be as high as twenty times greater than the rest of the population.

I dont think you understand an opiate addicts mindset. They call it maintenance therapy for a reason. The addict will not stop, and can do harm to society or themselves if they cannot get the drug. So you replace the drug with something that is not as intoxicating and has less possibility for overdose.

There is no fix for opiate addiction other than the mindset of the user. If you cant help the person decide to stop for good then the only thing you can do is harm prevention.

As an ex opiate addict, i never wanted to do methadone or suboxone as replacement/taper because IMO to do a dose large enough to get rid of the worst withdrawal symptoms you have sort of reset your withdrawal timer.

I think methadone and suboxone are good for getting you to baseline during withdrawal if you absolutely need it, say you have court or work. But most people dont do that, most addicts use methadone till they get a bag, making methadone essentially low cost get-out-of-withdraw-free card.

Lastly opiates have been around forever and i dont really think the government is much to blame for the epidemic. There are a wide variety of social factors that lead to opiate abuse. It's not just lower class, it's all the classes.

Feynman is a poster child for critical thinking, intelligence, and efficiency. Even the way Feynman read scientific papers was brilliant—read abstract, guess conclusion, and then check conclusion for surprises to see if the article was worth reading. This man was nothing short of a person who understood exactly what he was doing and for what purpose. I want to take advantage of my common sense more often. How would you best describe Feynman's problem-solving ability, and what steps can you take to emulate it in one's studies and every day life?

I find that making a habit of stating what activity I'm doing, how I plan on doing it, and why I plan on doing it is a good way of getting these kind of creative juices flowing. If you can vocalize it, then that's perfect, but stating in your mind works too provided that you really force that subvocalization. When I'm not at my optimal state, I sometimes think things through too quickly or without enough detail in a rush of topics, so clearly indicating my direction helps to point out any errors.

There's also the "Feynman method" of learning or whatever, but I've heard like three different versions, and I don't know which one is the right one or if they're all something one should do more often.

................

Just fucking talk it out, you almost answered your own question WITH your question.

you have 3/8th of a circle and 2/8th of a rectangle .

I'm completely ignoring that you're filling the circle in with triangles which will result in a strange octagon or something so those 3 triangles are NOT 3/8 of the circle but I figure that while your picture is fucking stupid, wrong, and that you should be ashamed of posting this garbage, that I can still derive your question.

I think the answer is that you drink a bottle of vodka, eat a bottle of ibuprofen, take a nice warm bath and cut your fucking wrists in it.

Is creativity domain dependent? How do you know if you're creative, and can it be improved if your lacking?

Or is creativity just an intuition gained from experience?
19 posts and 4 images submitted.
>>
I think when you know nothing about a subject, you're more creative because you believe anything, in the realm of said subject, anything can be possible because you simply don't know any better. You have 100% creativity but as you know nothing about the subject it's useless creativity.

As you learn more about a subject you learn you learn more about what's possible and what's not possible. You're able to use and express creative ideas you once had, and discard many because they are impossible.

Once you've mastered a subject, you stop seeing it in terms of what could be, and purely in terms of what is. Mastering a subject gives you tunnel vision preventing you from seeing unlimited creative possibilities.

So IMO creativity isn't something learned from experience, but rather lost through experience. However, the tunnel vision created from mastery and experience is a matter of perspective. If you change your way of looking at things, if you're willing to admit, even after mastering a subject, that you don't know all there is to know about it, and continue to seek what is possible, then that in essence is creativity. IMO
>>
im pulling this out of my ass, but none of the abstracted "functions" your brain can perform rely on a single chemical, or even a single (big leap)neurotransmitter system
>>
>>8997088
creativity is nothing more than a synthesis of previous experiences. its mundane, and only interesting in context, rather than hard sciences which are general.
