General Relativity or the Egyptian Pyramids
>>9002218
General Relativity is useless and also Jewish.
Pyramids win.
general relativity because it was useful and sciency
but the pyramids are also pretty cool
>>9002218
I'm Egyptian, so I'm inclined to say the pyramids.
What would happen to a big sphere of water 1 km in diameter if it appeared in stable orbit between earth and the moon?
Would the sun cook it all to steam, would it freeze to a big snowball, stay liquid or what?
It would evaporate
>>8999296
There isn't a stable orbit between the earth and the moon. The one Lagrange point, which you're probably thinking of, takes constant adjustment to stay in.
>>8999311
>There isn't a stable orbit between the earth and the moon. The one Lagrange point, which you're probably thinking of, takes constant adjustment to stay in.
What about a figure of eight orbit?
If the universe is deterministic and all events are linked by an unbroken causal chain, why is it that we can remember the past but we cannot remember the future?
Because that's fucking stupid, OP. You're fucking stupid.
>>8999066
>if a book is written before you read it, how come you don't know the ending?
you can only add new links to the chain
I've only heard religious people argue for having kids, or people that think humanity will find a way to carry on forever.
But since an educated individual knows life was doomed from the start, wouldn't the compassionate, intelligent thing to do be let humankind go extinct a long time ago? It seems cruel to bring new humans to awareness.
>>8997158
>But since an educated individual knows life was doomed from the start
???
>>8997158
Why are people who post about "religious people" always so faux-edgy in so many other ways as well?
>>8997158
To raise an offspring to become smarter, richer, happier & more successful than predecessors.
A son-father love is much stronger than the love between wife-husband or any friendship & brotherhood.
You trust 100% in your own parents. But you will never trust 100% of a Wife or Friend (Unless you are a Cuckold) You can trust in your Children.
Your Children will trust you, love you, respect you & care for you always just like you trust, respect, love, care your Parents.
A Slut or a Friend can back-stab & Cuck you at any moment. But the Love between Parents & Children are Pure & Strong.
You also need to raise someone to inherit your legacy. For example if Elon Musk don't complete the mission to led Humanity into Mars, then He should educate His son to continue His Mission.
But donate your legacy for Niggers, a corrupt government and be Cucked is retarded in my opinion.
scientifically looking, what's the most effective combination of meds to kill yourself?
can a combination of sedatives, hypnotics, anti psychotics and tranquilizers do it with alcohol?
>>8993650
should do because its with alcohol
>>8993654
how much though?
>>8993650
You shouldn't kill yourself anon.
Am I correct in my judgment that the human body requires a lot of unusual high maintenance? Compared to most if not all species on this planet?
Acne, crooked teeth that need braces, too oily or too dry skin, dandruff, hair loss, etc.. Do animals even get problems like this? Or are genetic failures like that relentless weeded out in the animal kingdom, meanwhile we get this shit because our environment, our civilizations, basically let everyone survive?
>>8996752
>Or are genetic failures like that relentless weeded out in the animal kingdom, meanwhile we get this shit because our environment, our civilizations, basically let everyone survive?
yes.
we haven't lived civilized lifestyles long enough to claim that our evolution isn't valid.
>>8996756
This pretty much. Thanks to civilisation, industrialisation and medicine we've sort of become detached from natural selection.
We've become smart enough to provide for most rather than carry on with the strongest. And so the weak carry on as well. Whether you think that's a good or bad thing is up to you.
When someone says "triple double" , do they mean:
f(x) = (x * 2) * 3
Or
f(x) = ((x * 2) *2) *2?
Is there even a way to figure this out?
triple double what? who says that?
>>9002795
they mean three stats in double digits usually points assists rebounds
>>9002798
>What
What = x
I want to learn cryptography.
What's the best source of knowledge about it?
>>9001914
also interested
>>9001914
Library obviously. Look at MIT curricullum, their crypto is very good.
>>9001914
I made threads about Crytography many times, but no one reply
looks like no one knows about it in here
does the sticky recomend meme books?
where can I get a proper knowledge built on set theory? I don't need wishy washy shit when set theory is literally the foundation of all other mathematics
>>9001855
the sticky is shit
naive set theory by halmos is good, the first chapters of jech's set theory are harder but great
>>9001855
yes.
pick yourself up a discrete mathematics books or something of the sorts.
How to Prove It, is a great book for supplement.
>>9001855
>set theory is literally the foundation of all other mathematics
>what is category theory
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_unsolved_problems_in_mathematics
You could literally pull it off by studying fifteen hours a day for years.
I May be a brainlet but im not dumb
>>9000702
I am. Although nothing on that list, and I will likely not actually solve it but may get lucky and prove a special case at some point.

Obviously I'm talking about one of the most basic models. Something like the Ultimate armor (pic related). Stuff like Extremis & Bleeding Edge are... yeah...
Anyway, I'm aware of those exosuits and mini jet-packs they've built, but how far along are we on building at least a semi functional Iron Man armor?
For some extra info, the Ultimate suit needed a whole lab's worth of specialists and specific machines for Tony to wear it, had a limited flight time, very few offensive weapons, and Tony used a green protective gel to get around the colissions and whatnot. It was also more like a "robo-armor" instead of the slim and form fitting 616 suits.
the problems are power and interface.
We could build a Fallout tier power armor tomorrow, minus the fusion power cell. Just slap a JP8 burning engine to the back to provide about 5-10hp.

Not possible at all. G-forces from impacts would turner the wear into pulp
>feel like wasting my life when not studying or working
>gave up films, reading fiction, music, vidya and anime.
I fucked up isn't it. I got memed.
>>9001066
>Gave up Anime (except hentai)
>Gave up Movie (except porn)
I too gave up Facebook & Twitter
,most TV shows (except game of thrones)
,Anime (except the last season of Shingeki no Kyojin)
,Movies & even Music.
But we need to relax sometimes to not get crazy.
I like to watch Trivia, Comedy & pop Science in YouTube channels.
I also like to shit post in 4 Chan.
But I feel a bit like you. I feel much more busy now. I had no much time for leasure.
I know this feel, I can't believe how poorly my parents prepared me for adulthood and yet they have the audacity to expect me to like them.
>ever watching anime
That's where you fucked up
how to time travel? guys help, how to time travel? if give me help i go win lottery pay you 50 mil. how make time travel machinery?

Time travel (backwards) will forever be impossible. It is inherently paradoxical in every form.

Does social media really affect self esteem?
i can imagine it would in a way that produces a global net negative. self esteem is a meme anyways.
>>9000720
Yeah, Social media, like drugs, friends and hobbies other than pure mathematics are all just self-steem crutches.
Normies feel depressed 99.9% of the time but they have learned of the depression exchange. If you can use social power to make fun of someone and belittle them while making yourself look like a superior person, you transfer your depression to that other person and then you get to feel happy, as in, what we feel when doing mathematics, but this only lasts for about 10 minutes and then they are back in the grind of the never ending social battle of trying to feel better by mocking others.
If you know anyone who unironically uses social media other than 4chan and other websites then pity them, because they are one insult away from pulling the fucking trigger.
>>9000730
It might b a positive as well --- friendless neckbeard can pretend to have all these friends...
So, ATP-Synthase synthesis ATP through a mechanism of rotational catalysis: if the gamma subunit rotates in one direction ATP and if it rotates in the other direction ATP is hydrolized. A really beautiful mechanism!
But why the hydrolysis of ATP doesn't pump protons to the other side? And what if the intermembrane space is more basic than the mitrocondrial matrix, would the synthase hydrolyse ATP using the downhill pump of protons because the gamma subunit would be turning the other way? (Of course the downhill pump of protons it's not necessary energetically to hydrolyse ATP but in mechanic ways it makes sense to me)
>>9000200
Thank fuck I only need to understand small bits of photosynthesis. I pity the fools who have to study this in detail..
>>9000200
Statistical mechanics here, ignorant of details of actual mechanisms.
Cranking the ATP pump with a chemical gradient doesn't mean destroying ATP must pump the gradient. Your exchanging internal energy to work twice, loosing heat in the process.
If the system was perfectly reversible you would have a perpetuum mobile of the second kind.
>>9000200
>But why the hydrolysis of ATP doesn't pump protons to the other side?
They're statistically unlikely to due to the gradient.
>And what if the intermembrane space is more basic than the mitrocondrial matrix, would the synthase hydrolyse ATP using the downhill pump of protons because the gamma subunit would be turning the other way? (Of course the downhill pump of protons it's not necessary energetically to hydrolyse ATP but in mechanic ways it makes sense to me)
Yes actually.
