I am a firm believer that Tau is vastly superior than Pi. Prove me wrong, Pi-shitters.
why should I care?
>>8998285
For every time you write tau, there's another time you'll have to write tau/2.
Using tau literally saves no time. And it takes more work for you and everyone else to know what you're saying, so fuck you.
>>8998292
This. There's nothing else to discuss. Don't forget to sage.
So you determine something is a group, field, ring, etc. So what? What does that gain you? What can you say about it other than the definition? What does this help you solve, model, determine? etc.
Is this just for proving things like Fermat's last theorem and other issues with diophantie equations or …?
>>9003862
>What does that gain you?
The ability to apply theorems about that algebraic structure
>>9003868
Right.
So?
>>9003875
So there's useful theorems and techniques you can use from the theory of the algebraic structure that might help you in solving whatever your problem is or studying this object you've determined fits that structure
What kind of answer are you looking for exactly?
When it comes to Diet & Exercise, what should i do in order to be healthy as possible?
>>9003624
Diet then exercise, gains are made in the kitchen.
>>9003625
Yeah, but what diet should i choose? Is there any criterium?
>>9003626
I'd go for a macro diet, not any of the meme ones like paleo or ketosis. I'd start with macros 40/40/20.
When Big Oil is running dry, you'd expect them to turn to the last untapped fossil resource on Earth:
Methane hydrates.
What is Methane Hydrates (or clathrates)?
It's basically burning ice. It's a christal that forms underwater at exactly the right conditions of pressure and temperature.
Those conditions are mostly met at continental shelves. It so happens that they are mostly covered in sediments, that is, decomposing sealife.
So those ice crystals trap methane into them.
One has to understand how fucking unstable this shit is.
5°C temperature range.
I don't remember, but not so wide pressure range.
You thought methane releases from permafrost were bad? This is at least 10 times worse.
In fact, it's been theorized that 300 millions years ago,the Earth, which was already experiencing a big extinction event, due to volcanoes in Syberia, has seen a major destabilization of those deposits that led to a supplementary 5°C increase in temperatures. Leading to the biggest ever extinction event for life on Earth.
It gets even more funny, when some people looked at submarine landslides. Guess what? We found some pretty big landsiles out there.
Just the continental shelf sliding down the hill.
Just a coincidence, but dating those sites proved they were in the range for holding methane hydrates at the time things happened.
A bit of math, and we're talking 500m tsunami waves(of which we found evidence on land).
So why am I bringing this up?
This is getting into /x/ conspiracy mode.
I saw at least 2 documentaries on this shit 5-10 years ago.
I tried very hard, but I can't find any evidence of the shit I'm advancing here on the interweb.
Literally none. I can't even find the stability range for this shit.
All I find is big oil announcing they're gonna tap this shit.
Please someone tell me I'm not insane and has seen the same documentaries.
>>9003519
It's probably nothing to worry about, move along.
>>9003537
May I ask about pic related?
Seems somewhat relevent.
>>9003549
Oh it's nothing, just a bunch of underwater clathrate explosion craters.
> Tfw you'll never know the exact number of Avogadro
>>9003044
6.022*10^23
>>9003049
4 significant figures aren't even close to 23 bruh
>tfw you'll never know the exact number of Avocados
Were you allow to use math formulas for your math exams?
>>9002205
No, of course not.
>>9002205
How are you going to complete a math exam without using any formula?
>>9002342
In my analysis class, we had to memorize every theorem, state them and use them. I made about 150 flash cards and I got through it ok
So when are we getting cybernetic implants?
NOW
>>9001483
Just came to /sci/ to post this exact thing
Are we already part of the neuralink?
>>9001483
>wanting (((cybernetic implants)))
You know how easy it would be for Microsoft to take over your PC? Now apply that to your puny little brain when (((they))) offer you this shit. You've been warned
Can /sci solve this tusk. We have cube and 4 points in edjes. How to get volume of green area in pic?
>>9001299
Get a bucket full of water, dunk green part of cube, measure spilled water, ???, profit
You can calculate a triple integral.
>>9001300
Good, but solution must be based on mathematics.
Should I even bother with it?
No, the ladies love it when you do pure math.
>>8999685
Decide for yourself but keep in mind - only PURE mathematics will get you 300k starting after PhD
So only if you hate money
>>8999693
Maths for the sake of maths is pretty useless to me :L
Why all the hate on tilapia? Is even a fraction of the scare tactics based on truth?
It seems to be all the ghetto people sharing shit like this. I'm assuming they just equate cheap with bad.
Pretty much none of that is true, meaningful, or actually in English. Just googling it tells you most of these are dead wrong (how could you even come up with it being boneless? it's a vertebrate).
>this fish is a mutant and it's killing our families
Man, X-Men got weird.
>>8998874
Of the statements in your image:
>No bones
False. All fish have bones.
>No skin
False -- maybe some moran is looking at tilapia filets?
>Can't be overcooked
False, it may be more tolerant to over cooking than some fish, I guess.
>You can't find tilapia in the wild
false, you can now even find it in the world in places it was not naturally occurring as an invasive species.
>Harvested on farms
Yes. Like an increasing number of fish available in your local market, farers are growing tilapia. I know of no wild tilapia fishery of any size.
>Not sure what the one about Algae is even trying to say.
>Worse than bacon or hamburger
In and of itself, no. If you fry it or put sauce on it, you may be getting close, but that's on your sauce, not on the tilapia. Tilapia is lacking in beta-three oils, in fact -- so it is not as healthy as many other fish. But it is not actively bad for you.
>Dioxin
Horse shit. I mean, traces may be found in most anything. But there is nothing specific to tilapia that creates dioxin.
>mutant
I guess everything is, if you define it that way. Tilapia is a naturally occurring fish, though.
>killing families
Only if you are freezing it, sharpening one edge, and hacking your family to death with one.
>>8998910
>>Not sure what the one about Algae is even trying to say.
They're complaining about the feed used in farms, but it just becomes a weird word salad because they had their brain replaced by gmo soy and corn.

Scientifically speaking, how many points does each inch below 6' reduce your attractiveness value as a male?
We know that being 6' or taller automatically places you as a 7 on any reasonably calibrated scale, with dimishing returns for each additional inch. We also know that being 5'10 generally places you at a 5, or average, all other things being equal. I'm having a hard time working out how heights below that are percieved though. Based on my research it seems that 5'7 is when males generally start to be considered 'short' (placing anyone 5'7 automatically at a 3 if we assume equivalency), but do heights below this mirror heights above 6', where there are diminishing returns on how unnatractive this makes you, or do these compound, forcing anyone 5'6 and under farther into the tail? Thanks in advance, I've been having difficulty getting honest feedback

Go to Korea/Japan/China.
You'll see that all Cute East Asian Girls are very short.
East Asians IQ is High as Nordic Whites (on Average), so you can get a smart enough offspring.
Hispanic Girls are also short. But not so short like the East Asians. The down side of Hispanics are that Hispanic Girls are Dumber.
>>8997261
hispanic women make objectively better mothers/housewives.
>>8997261
>STILL falling for the asian women meme
The chance of a WMAF couple producing a fucked up offspring is incredibly high. It's only worth it if you do not wish to procreate and are just in it to have a subservient wife.
so /sci/, if I gave you a device that converts thermal energy to mechanical energy with 100% efficiency, albeit at a near-infinitesimally slow rate, what would you do with it?
>>9003139
I'd use it as insulation.
>>9003147
how will you deal with the mechanical output?
>>9003152
I wouldn't need to really. It is a near-infinitesimally slow rate. A gap a micron wide would be more than enough room for probably a million years or so of use.
Von Neumann actually did alot of great math achievements
he is pretty much the founder of modern Game Theory, Cellulat Automata (with Ulam)
he might of not been the creator of the "von neumann architecture" but was the main advocate
he was the first to mathematicize quantum mechanics
dude was a genius,alien intellect
I was reading The Information by James Gleick, there's a lot of mention of him as well as the "main character" of the book, Claude E. Shannon
he was a brilliant man
>>9002445
He was okay. I am better.
