If evolution is true, why would humans have evolved to naturally believe in religious superstitions?

we have the luxury of being smart enough to seek, construct, and experience meaning, purpose, etc.

there was a period when we were smart enough for these things, but collectively not knowledgeable enough in the world to explain a lot of phenomena, like the seasons, weather, natural disasters, astronomical events, these types of things.

couple those two together and you have a group of beings intelligent enough to seek meaning in things, but unable to find it in a lot of cases in the world. easy to see why gods would be created.

You'll notice as history goes on, gods in religions interfere less and less with day to day life, and now, take the christian god for instance, he's only around as the guy who created everything and sometimes causes kids to survive cancer surgeries. That's a lot harder to disprove than some god is the king of the sea and causes tsunamis on people who anger him

Linked to the human ability to make sophisticated abstractions. Believing in things that arent really there is essential for being able to think about anything at all.

What's the evidence they did? At the time, they thought light was a particle but I'm not aware they had a model of physics built around that.

How exactly were the Egyptians going to understand relativity when they didn't even have an understanding of Non-Euclidean Geometry which didn't come around until the 19th century?
>>
>>9024566
they didn't even have a understanding of Euclidean Geometry that well

Ancient Egypt is obviously one of the most overrated ancient civilizations

their mathematics and science were generally less sophisticated than the Greeks, focused more on practical reasons, not much for the theoretical stuff Greece was

Greece was the first civilization to introduce mathematical proofs and an axiomatic deductive system.

probably illegal to put an accelerometer on any kind of rocket, for the same reason your phone's accelerometer turns of during high altitudes/speeds

take the engine place in fixture it against force sensor start engine

Why do slanted eyes exist?

I can understand other racial traits, like black people having more melanin because of the climate, white people being really fair looking, etc, but why do asians have slanted eyes?Whats the evolutionary benefit of it?

How does /sci/ence explain the following phenomena?

-dreaming about people and things you haven't yet seen, but end up seeing not long after
-disemboweled dead cows with cuts achievable only by laser surgery
-UFO sightings by trained aircraft pilots, including from the military
-people coming back from the dead after a few days of being buried
-Roswell incident

I'm not even /x/, but if science can't explain these it's really no surprise that people come up with all kinds of stories. What are some possible explanations?

>-dreaming about people and things you haven't yet seen, but end up seeing not long after

The mind is not purely a physical device.

>-disemboweled dead cows with cuts achievable only by laser surgery

Edgelord med students.

>-UFO sightings by trained aircraft pilots, including from the military

Secret air force shit.
>>
>>9023249
>The mind is not purely a physical device.
Are you suggesting there is a "soul" or some immaterial, metaphysical quality to our minds?
>Edgelord med students.
Spoiled teen agers who decide to miss parties, risk jail for stealing top notch medical apparatus, and drive to some deep south farm in the middle of nowhere only to prank redneck farmers seems as believable as aliens wanting anything to do with the cows in the first place.
>Secret air force shit.
Doesn't explain the "including from the military" part, neither the midget corpse found along the weather balloon in New Mexico.

>WHY ARE PEOPLE SO FUCKING STUPID WITH THEIR DENIAL OF GLOBAL WARMING
Because most people are able to read a climate "science" paper and notice that it has no predictive power and is just used as an excuse to establish carbon taxes

Also one hot day has nothing to do with global warming, please learn how science works before posting again

Why is logic correct thinking?

Not pic related
19 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
Logic is 'correct' within the logical framework you're working in

If you change frameworks your old logic might not be correct anymore
>>
>>9021350
So logic is correct if we assume that certain assumptions are correct? If we assume some of them are not correct then logic is not correct, or we need new logic?
>>
>>9021361
Those are called axioms. Those things when we cannot deconstruct anymore and come to what we must accept as truths.

They are like the atoms of logic and reasoning.

2 (Two) centuries later there are still people who don't get how evolution by natural selection works; there are people right now, living among us, some of them scientists, who actually think the DNA was "intelligently programmed" and somehow imbued with "information". These people cannot fathom that DNA is itself a product of evolution.

How do I deal with this, because it really triggers me to no end. Should I just stop talking to people who defend that?
