For the past 2 days I've been waking up and being partially colorblind. I couldn't see anything blue, everything that was blue was grey or white, the light level was fine in the room as it was about 10am. Any explanations for something like this?

Blue vision is mediated by one variety of the cells known as cones in your retina. These can be affected by blood glucose levels, among other conditions. Go to your doctor.

Is there an effective way or measurement that I can use online to measure my IQ?

No, go see someone trained to administer such a test

>>
>>9070972
You can't expect a somewhat accurate intelligence test online... It would work for low IQ, the range between 0-80, that's what these tests were made for, but over 120 its hard to be accurate, because what do those 30 points between 150 and 180 mean ?

So just now I drank some sangria, maybe 150 or 200 ml(10 percent alcohol on empty stomach).
I haven't drank in over a year and don't drink before then either. No drinking at all other than, like I said, a year ago and that was wine for a period of about two weeks. I got drink very fast. Withtin 5 minutes I was buzzed, light headed and nauseous. I'm male, 190 pounds, 6'1 and 19 years old. Have a pretty healthy diet with lots of fruits and vegetables, mainly drink purified water with sometimes vanilla almond milk and all supplements.
Omega 3 6 and 9 300 mg each
Adult women's Walmart daily vitamin
5000 iu vitamin d
Vitamin c 800 percent daily value once every 3 days
Magnesium
Iron
Right now on some monocycline
Low testosterone and family history of thyroid problems. No major health issues other than the low t.

The year ago drinking I don't remember the alcohol going to my mind that fast and that was 3 percent higher alcohol content by volume.
So, is something wrong with my liver? I'm a little freaked out right now and have been paranoid ever since I drank the sangria and wondered why I got drunk so fast. I'll probably schedule an apointment right away, need to do blood work for testosterone so I can get anti estrogens and HCG since testosterone injections don't work, will ask about it then but would like to know something immediately right now.

Is it true that in the future we will have food shortages and have to eat bugs?!
29 posts and 4 images submitted.
>>
Some think this, yes, or at least recommend doing it. It is possible, but it is very difficult to predict the future.
Maybe we'll innovate and secure the food supply, but I think it is wishful thinking that we will.
>>
>>9069582
bugs breed quickly are are very nutricious, eating meat will probably become harder to do, as animals take more food to feed than we gain from eating the animals themselves.

I don't think it will happen in the near future though.

many cultures already eat bugs

watch this and be amazed

>>
it seems a little superfluous when we already have an established meat industry. The only places where food shortages exist are where there ARENT established meat industries.

You can drive a typical Mercedes E-class for eight years before you do as much damage to the environment as a Tesla. One of the reasons for this is the super-heavy batteries used in electric vehicles.

Millions upon millions of e-cars also means millions upon millions of such batteries. Raw materials such as lithium and cobalt are in high demand. But where does cobalt come from? Well, at least to an overwhelming extent it come from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), a nation rocked by civil war and large-scale corruption. It's mainly child labourers who have to dig out the ore. But without cobalt from the DRC you can forget about any fantasies about e-cars.

Poisons and dangerous particles are a side effect of the production of batteries, let alone the tons of carbon dioxide produced. And in the end, millions of batteries have to be disposed of and then hopefully recycled. Otherwise it is toxic waste.

If you dig the stuff for batteries out of the ground to start with why can't you just chuck it back into the ground once you're done with it?
If you dig a ton of stuff out of the ground and eat it you'll die whether it's toxic waste or regular ore. There's functionally no difference.

I'm interessted in experiments on human beings such as the Nazis or the CIA did.
(or Josef Mengele, Shiro Ishii and Wladimir Demichow)
Anyone know where to find something to read about it? I don't only want to know what they did but how they did it and what the outcome was.
27 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
This has never been legal, so there is not much to read about it, the closest you will come to this kind of experiments are those conducted on animals. Most experimental shit done on humans was done in secrecy, if CIA released shit they did it could get them in trouble. soooooo you of luck kiddo
>>
>>9073399
some of the Nazi stuff that Mengele did is kown. Experminets on twins for example. I think there is more since releasing this won't get anyone in trouble
>>
>>9073376
They're essentially useless, most never had proper data or methodology. They weren't so much experiments, rather just randomly torturing people to death because certain mentally unsound people were given the power to do so, should they choose.

So not directly related to science irl but the question has been gnawing at me.

If someone stood on a planet and fired a Star Wars blaster bolt into the sky, how far would it travel before it disappeared and/or became harmless?

Follow-Up: how far would it go when fired while in space?

They're plasma right?
About 5 metres.
>>
>>9073358
according to the wiki, about 300 meters max. apparently it uses gas and george lucas magic to form plasma into a "solid-ish" projectile.
if the wiki is any accurate lorewise, they're designed to be short ranged weapons for indoor cqc.
>>
>>9073386
aren't their ship weaponry the same tech just scaled up? doesn't seem like a narrow use-case for indoor combat.

Redpill me on time. Does it physically exist? Can it be manipulated by human beings? Does it move from past to present to future or can it bend to an alternate direction?
17 posts and 3 images submitted.
>>
>>9072846
Time does not actually exist. Most popsci-loved mainstream theories are based on time existing. Meaning they are completely incorrect. They base themselves on a flawed concept.
>>
>>9072846
TIME is just a frequency of our universe in which all matter that occupy our universe can change state and/or interact. The "realness" comes from the records of these interaction. Think Simon Says. If TIME was indeed just another real thing then it means that from certain perspective you'd be able to see all a collection of matters state from TIME's one times end to another (a tapes one end to another). Since TIME is not real, what is going to happen at the next tick; we, as a human being, have choices. Otherwise both history and future has already happened and we can't do anything about it. See my point? If not I can draw up some diagrams and create a video or something.
>>
>>9072846
The passage of time is just entropy observed.
