Could someone explain to me like a retard what is "unrounded pi" and it´s value and how one arrives to

>A named constant is appropriate in this case because the value of pi (3.141593 when rounded to six decimal places)

Excuse the shitty fucking drawing, what are the "six decimal places" I could round the pi on the drawing in right

what would it be like to be made machine-like, insanely efficient at completing tasks but not capable of generating them? is there any scientific model on the disparity between rational thought and intuition?

how do you quantify their differences? would it be like an inanimate object adhering to the principle of least action?

i feel mostly the same when masturbating vs not

Positing problems and solving them are organic, stochastic, multi-agent and evolutionary selection processes. We don't really understand these types of intelligence yet.

>what would it be like to be made machine-like, insanely efficient at completing tasks but not capable of generating them?

"Being" is not necessary in completing tasks. Is your computer alive or "being" in some subjective sense?

>is there any scientific model on the disparity between rational thought and intuition?
Not a clear one. See below.

>how do you quantify their differences?
Rational thought has recently received a "definition" of sorts through statistics and computer science. You should look at definitions of "computability" and "effective procedure". As for "intuition", I don't think this is a well-defined term. It is tied closely to subjective experience and the individual (what is intuitive for some is not intuitive for others, and we have barely scratched the surface as to the mechanisms of intuition).

>would it be like an inanimate object adhering to the principle of least action?
You're on the right track if my thoughts are correct. I believe that intuition is an organic process, with "memes" passed down from one generation of thinkers to the next. There is no Newton without Barrow, and no Barrow without his mentor, etc. The process these thinkers are undergoing is a selective one, involving thousands upon thousands of different individuals, each who supply some mathematical object, idea, or conception which lends itself to the solution of the big problem.

For a good insight into the practice of intuition, I recommend reading Einstein's papers as a young man. You can see him painstakingly consider many different objects of a mathematical and physical nature, and watch him essentially practice and develop his own intuition about things. But as far as quantifying it, we are a ways away.

what about the task of finding a task to complete

Here's a chemistry question.

A car exhaust system is made from stainless steel. Would it be unwise to fabricate a cover plate from aluminium to seal a hole?
Would it be better or worse to use steel (not stainless)?

So i had put off my college for a while because of health issues but also through therapy it was because I realized it was tied to keeping my mom alive. I had some how associated her staying alive as to waiting till i got my college degree.

My mom had been sick since I was 12 and had worse and worse health. I'm 30 and moved to Los Angeles and started to go back to school at community college. I met my fiance and she and I moved to seattle. My mom getting sicker and sicker and being in and out of the hospital because complications from multiple health problems.

But since finding my fiancee I focused my self on school because I knew once i get my Comp Sci and Elec Engineering degree I can make a home for us.

Anyway ... my mom finally passes away with my family back on the east coast on Christmas eve. I was more relieved than anything because of how long she had suffered. It was finally done and she was no longer suffering.

I'm crying now because I just wish i could call my mom and let her know her son finally can say he is almost done with school but not just that I have made Dean's list and have been just accepted into the honors program. I didn't even realize how well i was doing. I was just putting my head down and check boxing off classes making sure i go no less than a B in them from 2 different community colleges to now going to school University.

I wish i could let her see her little boy doing so well in school. Knowing how hard it was with untreated learning disabilities because when I grew up if you got diagnosed with a learning disability for ADHD, Dyslexia, and more that you were put into the special ed track with kids who liked to burn things in their desks.

I'm going to get to graduate with honors with just two more terms left for me and only 20 credits left.

I just want to have my mom hug me and cry and say i know you could do it. But i'm so happy she is at peace at the same time.

So this guy "Dr." Randell L. Mills claims he has a grand unified theory of classical physics. He's making millions off of investors to make what is basically a perpetual motion machine, he was even on CNN talking about it.

Can any physics majors skim his theory and find out if he's the next Newton or just a retard?

How do i know that I have shit discipline or I have ADHD? My doctor thinks I have ADHD from dumb questions like are you Organised?

What disorder do you think you have? Or rather what disorder do you WANT to have?

There are an astronomically small amount of "mental disorders" that have provable causes and provable effects and become provably deteriorating. Mostly just schizophrenia. For the rest of us "disorders", it's really just a matter of what we do and how we want to interpret those things. You can interpret them in terms of "personality disorders and government-recognized diagnosis." Perhaps those things are even useful to some people. Study of the patterns of behavior that people who "have similar conditions" might be quite enlightening. Or you can interpret them in terms of what you are and what you want to be. Do you have ADHD? If you want to, then sure. What do you do with that information? Well now that's the far more interesting question, isn't it?

It took a while for me to realize that pic related was actually two AIs talking to each other. Unfortunately, I feel that only reflect just how low a bar humanity sets. We need some way to test this more rigorously.

So, I propose the following: we make an AI to post on /pol/. Every couple of hours it makes a new post, except replies have a 50% chance of being responded to within minutes. Afterwards, we collect threads where the AI participated and ask people to guess which posts were made by actual people vs an AI.

We could try some variations on the above, such as making specific AI threads on /pol/ where the trick will be to distinguish real AIs from trolls, or even staging entire AI arguments on /pol/ threads and seeing how long it takes the /pol/lacks to figure out what's going on.

If nothing else, it'll be amusing to watch.

raids are against the rules

why do people think that letting two shitty AI's talk to each other is somehow going to make any kind of progress towards an actual real deal AI? you can't fabricate human-like consciousness using computer hardware in the same way you can't build a skyscraper with cake ingredients.

First day using the internet, huh, Grandpa. Turns out if you repeat a bunch of random text that someone sent to you, you look vaguely like a thing that isn't completely and utterly constructed from a pseudorandom number generator.

I have a simple question; what's it called when multiple dimensions coexist in the same time and space? in other words if there are different versions of myself, they exist in different dimensions right, so lets say theres a special place where i can interact with all the other versions of myself. what would that be called/what would you call such an event/what would you call such a thing that facilitates such an experience?

also general shit like this thread i guess, whatever.
