>Haven't slept for 36 hours
What are the health effects of lack of sleep and am I going to die?
After 24 hours it is extremely lethal and you can die spontaneously without warning.
>>9090554
>What are the health effects of lack of sleep
Shitposting on 4chan apparently.
>am I going to die?
Eventually yeah.
Idk mang I went months sleeping like 3 hours every 36. I'd stay up as long as I could and take as many drugs as I could get my hands on and still only sleep for a few hours. Honestly I felt better for the most part as do many people with that sort of mania. I'd be waking up in enough psychic pain it seemed to hurt physically and after about 24 hours I'd just like not give a fuck. It was good in some ways and bad in others. Kinda felt like I was legit psychopath. I couldn't care about anything good or bad but overall felt good. Kinda feels like I aged about ten years in those few months though

What mathematics do I need to start learning quantitative analysis of financial markets?
I've already taken linear algebra, calc 1-3, diff eqs, combinatorics, statistics and an intro to proofs course. Is that enough to start working through some graduate textbooks? Any recommendations? Should I learn stochastic calculus?

My friend took calculus I without using the textbook. How easy will the road be towards getting his comp sci degree. I'm not sure if he even studied a whole lot and he still got a b+.

Calc 2 is easy so dont worry about it. Get a tutor and actually do the homework and you should have no problem getting at least an A-

Hi, I'm trying to learn about differences between taylor and Laurent series in complex numbers, but don't know what to do in this expression, any ideas? thanks
>>9090144
[eqn] z + 2 = \frac{5}{2}(z - 1) - \frac{3}{2} (z-3) [/eqn]
so
[eqn] w = \frac{3}{2} \frac{1}{1-z} - \frac{5}{6} \frac{1}{1 - \frac{z}{3}} \\
= \frac{3}{2} \sum_{k=0}^\infty z^k - \frac{5}{6} \sum_{k=0}^\infty \left( \frac{z}{3} \right)^k \\
= \sum_{k=0}^\infty \left(\frac{3}{2} - \frac{5}{6} \frac{1}{3^k} \right) z^k[/eqn]

this
Taylor series involves derivatives, but when it comes to complex valued functions, derivatives only "make sense" for holomorphic functions.
Holomorphic is "equivalent" to analytic, which means the function looks like a power series. When Laurent series is mentioned for complex functions, there could be negative exponent terms, i.e.
[math]f(z) = \sum_{n = -\infty}^{\infty}a_n(z-z_0)^n[/math]
If there are no negative exponent terms, then f(z) is holomorphic on the disk centered at z_0 with radius determined by the radius of convergence. Similarly, a laurent series will be holomorphic on an annulus

How you got 5/2 for (z-1) and -3/2 for (z-3)?

what is the diameter of a jet? still got nothing even after asking on some site where u can ask physicists

about tree fiddy
>>9090051
IIRC physicists don't know much about jets or why they form, it's an unsolved mystery
Probably the same width as the black hole itself at the base, a few kilometres across.
The jets can reach several thousand lightyears out by which they will most likely become extremely wide and less focused.
This thread is your reminder that a believing heart is your mathematics.
To become a great mathematician you need intelligence and intuition but that is not the whole story. You also need the seven words of Arcturus (read pic related to learn them and see examples of the words acting in the real world) but most importantly you need a believing heart!
A believing heart is everyone's mathematics. You need to be able to believe in yourself. To be able to believe that you can do it and to believe in the goodness of the mathematical community.
