how would i derive a formula for the sequence [math]a_{n}[/math]?
>>7687747
I could not help but notice your png was not optimized anon.
I have optimized your png.
Your png is now optimized.
>>7687747
You just shift all n's to the left by 1.
[math]a_n = a_1 + a_2 + ... + a_{n-1}[/math]
The reason you don't do this is because the equation doesn't work when n = 1 (what's [math]a_0[/math]?). You'd have to specify that the equation only works at n > 1 which makes it more complicated to understand.
If you take [math] a_0 = 1 [/math] then [math] a_n = 2^{n-1}[/math] for [math] n\geq 1 [/math].
Is there a biological reason for pic related? Also, if large penises are desired by women, why hasn't man evolved to have a bigger average penis than 6.5 inches?

>dream about being a writer
>start reading the rules of storytelling, stuff like lajos egri (drama writing), robert mckee, figures of speech, poetry metrics, spanish grammar (my native language), TTC courses of creative writing.
>Read stuff like 36 plots and hero's journey
>I even browse fucking TV tropes.
>plan on going to a taco shitty college to study literature (licenciature)
>mfw /lit/ dissmisses my arguments as to why literature and writing can be objectively analized in terms of technique
>mfw they see me as a weirdo because I wanna study literature and analize it using the scientific method
>mfw some uses the "literature and writing has no rules" argument
>/sci/ will never know the pain of trying to argue why a story can be good or bad in objective terms using some basic scientific approach and get told I'm a retard because is about feeling it
>mfw I just want to approach storytelling and writing as if it were a science
I know my taco english suck, pls no bully.

Natural Language Processing in computer science is about that. Except they go into it at a very granular level. They try to capture patterns, statistical or compositional, in language by breaking it down. It doesn't get us far enough to start reasoning about high level abstract rules in writing.
But... I agree with you. Discipline should be enforced with your writing. Your story and plot should be structured, but the way you communicate it might have to be less stringent. If you're communicating a plot to others, you must relay that information in ways people are expecting or used to,
>>7687638
I learned basic programming using java and I think story generation is quite interesting.
But my current idea would be like approaching in terms of analizing plot structures, and seeing stuff like tropes and how they relate to produce the stories we see.
I wanna approach it like how music theory does it, with it's use of patterns (tropes, scenes).
I even see a story like a some kind of musical score where each instrument (character) plays a pattern/melody/phrase (trope).

You have been spending too much time on web sites of ill repute.
Has anyone had luck picking up women by through tutoring or helping with homework? Please share your experiences. A girl I have liked for some time asked if I would help her with math next semester, and I'm hoping by doing so I might be able to kindle a spark between us.
I think she said she'd be taking the lowest possible level; what is that typically at college? I've only really tutored people I shared a class with, never someone this far behind, anyone have tips as to how I should prepare?
In high school, yes. Never bothered in university, because it was easy enough to meet girls elsewhere.
Here's an idea, though. Instead of waiting until next semester, how about you ask her on a date now?
>>7687636
She currently has a boyfriend. She said things aren't going well with him though. I'm just hoping I'm not already friend-zoned
>>7687632
This disparity in understanding may end up being something that insulates you from forming a real relationship with her.
What's the most attractive part of the male body to females on average?
I know males seek face+tits+ass the most, but how bout women?
I dont know if anyone has that jpg laying around but surveys said broad shoulders was first along with ass surprisingly

shoulders, ass, hands

>Face
Face needs to look cute, the rest need to look strong while also giving the impression of agility
Was browsing the pictures on the Handwriting Thread >>7683940 and a lot of Anons "comment" their calculations(writing out the steps they took).
Do you guys do it?
Do I need to do it?
Will it help me understand better?
yeah i do it, it generally helps when i'm re-reading my notes
i also do it on exams unless i'm rushed for time
I try to do it for every problem, unless the solution is super obvious, I'm pressed for time, or I'm not feeling motivated at the moment.
How in depth the comments are generally depends on how confused I was when I did the work. For problems that take me forever to solve, I might wind up writing a fucking book detailing everything and why.
>>7687509
Always, otherwise you'll get no clarity marks.
>>7687372
It really depends on the science.
if /sci/ knew how they would have invented something and not jerking themselves on about their schools on a chinese forum
>>7687372
i no rite?
why does /sci/ hate philosophy?
Just being tsun, anon-senpai.

Because Philosophy is dead
Because many people who deal in science love absolutes, and loathe subjectivity. Unfortunate as it is.
100 prisoners are imprisoned in solitary cells. Each cell is windowless and soundproof. There's a central living room with one light bulb; the bulb is initially off. No prisoner can see the light bulb from his or her own cell. Each day, the warden picks a prisoner equally at random, and that prisoner visits the central living room; at the end of the day the prisoner is returned to his cell. While in the living room, the prisoner can toggle the bulb if he or she wishes. Also, the prisoner has the option of asserting the claim that all 100 prisoners have been to the living room. If this assertion is false (that is, some prisoners still haven't been to the living room), all 100 prisoners will be shot for their stupidity. However, if it is indeed true, all prisoners are set free and inducted into MENSA, since the world can always use more smart people. Thus, the assertion should only be made if the prisoner is 100% certain of its validity.
Before this whole procedure begins, the prisoners are allowed to get together in the courtyard to discuss a plan. What is the optimal plan they can agree on, so that eventually, someone will make a correct assertion?

Is mathematics (and theoretical physics) the type of field where you don't need to have, money, connections to academia, or even a degree to contribute to research?
Its intriguing how Ramanujan was able to generate his proofs in the slums of India without a proper college education. Or how Einstein formulated his theory of relativity while working as a lowly patent clerk. Or how Perelman solved the Poincare conjecture while unemployed and living in an apartment with his mother in Russia.

Math books are expensive. Of course you can use libgen. But then you'll probably get distracted and decide to post on 4chan instead of reading them.

You know exercise (especially cardiovascular) stimulates neurogenesis right?
Why don't you exercise regularly?
>>7687125
I do exercise regularly, but not for that reason.
Running makes you dumber, it is a waste of time for an intellectual.
>>7687125
How is neurogenesis beneficial? Does neurogenesis help with the overall function of cortical columns?
Why did the engineer cross the road?
To suck some fucking dick.
To shit on the other side?
OP here.
Sorry I made this thread, guys. I knew this was garbage when I was making the thread, but I couldn't help myself.
I've been making a lot of bad threads lately. I just like the attention I get. I think the only way I can get myself to stop is if people just stop responding to my awful threads when I make them. Deep down, that's what I really want and hope for every time.
Please ignore all my terrible threads; they're just cries for attention.
The best way you can help me is to just ignore all my posts where I try stir up trouble or get attention, even ones claiming this isn't me.
Thanks in advance for not encouraging me.
what is the science behind humans believing in gorked shite like astrology?
The body wants to minimize effort at all times.
So people will be stupid on purpose so they don't have to think about complex topics. Astrology and Religion, Spirituality explain things in a simple context. It's just how normies are.
>>7686941
if dubs, astrology is a science
It's called psychology and it follows in their footsteps.
Is pharmacology a real science?

Are you a real retard?
How far back in time do you think you'd have to go to be considered a genius?
I think I might have seemed pretty smart in the 12 century when trebuchets and wooden weapons of death made a military advanced.
IQ: 110-120
Qualifications: BS Computer Science
Work: Software Engineer (Gaems)
Academic Interest(s): AI/Deep Learning, Chemistry, Quantum Jargonics
Hobbies: Illustration, Animation.. Graphic Design/Motion Graphics
You might be smarter, but how would you demonstrate it? How would you even know for yourself that you're smarter than 12th centurians if you're incapable of demonstrating it?
What I mean is that, assuming it was just your body/mind that was transported back in time, you wouldn't have any technology to show them. Even if they did listen to anything you say, which is unlikely, they wouldn't give a shit or wouldn't understand most of what you have to say. None of it would be relevant, applicable, or translatable to their world. Also I can imagine that if you tried to criticise their reasoning or cultural norms, they'd just gut you.
>>7686937
>How would you even know for yourself that you're smarter than 12th centurians
More/better food, very little infectious disease, proper education
For a few decades last century the average IQ based on raw scores was 3pts higher per decade or some shit. Or in other words the average person now could go back to 1915 and get 130 on an IQ test. People today are demonstrably smarter than people not even that long ago.

I think reddit would be a better place for this thread. There you can circlejerk with equally cringeworthy people who also like to pretend they are polymaths just because they have a CS undegrad degree.
