One question
Imagine a spaceship travelling near the speed of light with a camera filming it
Imagine we are at earth looking at a screen that is showing what the camera is recording
what would we see?

I am not talking about me moving at near speed of light.
But about a guy that is not doing it, looking at a monitor that shows what is happening inside a spaceship that is doing it

Hello, /sci/

/agdg/ here. I'm developing a mech game and want to see what sort of technology would be somewhat realistic within the next 50-100 years. I have almost no experience with robotics, so maybe you all can lend a hand.

What sort of technology can I add in my game to add believability/plausability?

For example: Say we achieve a room-temperature superconductor. What impact would this have and can it be applied to a large mech?

hi there aggydaggy

you're a programmer with no robotics experience? what are you 17?

>i am not a robot
>>
>>7697380
I have a rudimentary understanding of servos, actuation, etc. But not much beyond that.

I'm in need of information in topics like weaponry, jet propulsion, materials engineering (alloys, etc)
>>
Mechs will never be realistic because the concept is massively impractical.
If you want a semi realistic 'what if we did just cause lol' you probably dont have to do much, just stay away from 'energy weapons', set some limits that allow you to still have the robots about how much metal the relevant robotic bits can move with how much ease in your world, and keep in mind weight and volume concerns for decently realistic weapons on top of a big humanoid robot.

written by an edgy spergmaster, but fundamentally has a point. It heavily relies on the definition of 'bullshit' from an outside source, yet the problem with a word such as that is that it's definition can change and has changed.
it also tries to use common features in scientific articles, and use of 'big' words to masquerade as anything other than an opinionpiece.

What topics is /sci/ willing to debate about? Will /sci/ discuss philosophy of science and epistemology? What about ethical questions that largely involve epistemological and scientific considerations?
Also, if I made a set of rules that only I would have to follow which I thought would accelerate the process of agreement (just impartial things like 'no parodying your interlocutor', and 'prioritize agreement with your interlocutor rather than entertainment of your audience'), would it be characteristic of /sci/ to appreciatively and/or respectfully reciprocate?

>Will /sci/ discuss philosophy of science and epistemology?
There is nothing to discuss. You can repeat your "u cannot know nuffin" mantra ad infinitum, but don't ever expect scientists to care. We just continue to use the scientific method because it works regardless of whether some autistic "philosopher" fails to understand it.
>>
>>7697084
>There is nothing to discuss.
I think there is a lot to discuss. What is scientific, and why should I trust scientific things? What about 'scientific authority'? What are the limits of peer review, and what should I do if we reach those limits?

>You can repeat your "u cannot know nuffin" mantra ad infinitum, but don't ever expect scientists to care.

Hey /sci/, /tg/ here with a hypothetical question. Imagine magic existed in this world, how would you explain it? How would it work? What are the risks and possible applications of it?

And what exactly IS it? Another form of energy? A force like gravity? Something else?

If "magic" existed we wouldn't call it magic, it would just be part of the laws of physics.

Just like magnetism can seem like magic to someone uneducated.
>>

Taking that into account then, or imagine that magic just came to the world suddenly, how would you imagine it working, what would you call it?

Okeee boys my friend has made a formula for working out the probability of a particulate outcome to do with this picture, the rules are:

Each missile card will fire 8 times not 3, the fire one at a time so theirs 24 total shots fired.

There are 8 targets each missile can hit the hero or one of his 7 minions. Each minion has 3 health points, once it reaches 0 It dies. The minions will ALSO multiply if its hit and not killed while there is space to do so (7 is the max)

What are the chances with your 24 fired missiles that you will wipe the board clean?

He things the answer is:

((8/8*7/8*6/8*5/8*4/8*3/8*2/8*1/8) * 2) * (8/8*7/8*6/7*5/6*4/5*3/4*2/3*1/2)

And i think he could be right but I'm thinking there's to many outcomes for it to look that easy.

If anyone can work this out ill give you like 20 bucks Via pay-pal, make sure you post with a email address/steam profile or something.

Appreciate any responses plz, will clarify if anyone has questions!

i simulated the situation n times for k=1 000 000 and k=100 000 000, my laptop almost melted while doing so

k=1 000 000
0, 0, 0, 0, 3, 436, 73988, 925573

k=100 000 000
0, 0, 0, 1, 278, 42438, 7403501, 92553782

nth number corresponds to the number of simulations where (n-1) patrons stayed on the field
using interpolation it's visible that the probability of no patrons staying on the field is approximately of the order of 10^(-15) or lower

Psychology question.
I tried to ask this on Reddit and was banned.

So my thoughts on this are connecting:
A. Why take the files?
B. Why such an aggressive prosecution
C. Why kill himself

A. My thoughts are that he said he was trying to compile data that may prove biase and/or skewing of statistics and information leading to scientific consensus supporting c02 as the cause for global warming. The rest writes it's own story in connection to B and C.

Also, would there be a way to "carry the torch" and try to complete what aaron seemed to be trying to do? From what I hear, this was his main intention and all the media I read on it underplays the climate research as insignificant.

Please no trolling on this I am completely serious and very concerned about this and am wondering if someone knows someones contact that I can followed the thread on this.

Thank you all for your thoughts.

>>
My psychiatrist is who suggested that I vent this on 4chan
>>
>>7696708
I highly doubt that, why would your psychiatrist want to subject you to ridicule. First of all, the idea that there is a massive conspiracy to promote global warming among scientists, and that the government prosecutes or kills people because they are looking at the statistics of global warming research (which is widely available information), is absurd on its face and indicative of a paranoia complex. Second, Aaron Swartz was very liberal and actually campaigned in favor of reducing fossil fuels.
