What classes must one pass before posting on /sci/?

Goddamn I wish that my calc 2 class's problems were that easy. Thats some babby shit.

The ln term is just 1 (inside is the definition e)
the sin^2 term is 1

not sure about the sum, but I'm willing to bet the cosh shit reduces to 1 as well and the sum then is 2, so you get 2=2

Is there a /sci/entific way to get rid of my suicidal thoughts?
I've been feeling like shit for months and I don't know what to do
29 posts and 3 images submitted.
>>
You could follow through with them.
>>
>>7715795
If you want to get rid of them, you're not really depressed yet. This is only the beginning. After a few months/years of more suffering you will embrace suicidal thoughts. They will become stronger and your entire life will revolve around finally gathering the courage to do it. At least that's how it works for me. Been in therapy and taking meds. Still more and more convinced I'm gonna kill myself after finishing university.
>>
>>7715795
Why are letting your emotions control you?

Suicide is the answer only if it's the most logical and rational choice. Which is terribly rare.

here lads, what ever happened to Lockheed Martin's idea for a compact fusion reactor?
22 posts and 6 images submitted.
>>
>>7715611
big oil killed it
>>
>>7715611

The SL-1 accident happened and the army didn't want anything to do with nuclear reactors anymore. Regardless if Lockheed actually got anywhere, it would likely be kept secret. The only people who could possibly afford a compact (ie can fit inside an intermodal container) nuclear reactor is the military.

>>7715614

"Big oil" had nothing to do with it. The oil lobby doesn't give a shit about compact reactors given that it won't effect their business. Utility companies (who buy oil and NG for power plants) have no use for a *compact* reactor, whilst said compact reactor is still too expensive for consumers (and would also face a huge slew of legal challenges if individuals were to start installing them in their homes and cars).

The nuclear industry itself is more to blame for it's current state, because they're entirely focused on serving the US Navy as a defense contractor.

Is there a long-term evolutionary advantage to having homosexuals in the tribe?
31 posts and 6 images submitted.
>>
they help raise offspring in a community but they don't produce the resource consuming wankers.
>>
Homosexuality probably has nothing to do with genes

I'm not saying people choose to be gay but I doubt it's in their genes
>>
>>7715596
The so-called "gay gene" also seems to increase female fertility, which is likely why it's persisted for so long. It's also important to realise that faggotry is partially genetic and partially social. I can't remember the study that showed it, but there was one the looked at children brought up in gay households were more likely to be gay themselves than those brought up in a normal house.

I made a petition, guys. Sign if you want.

Good thread
>>
>>7714962
The board is about the niche interest in science and mathematics. The interest is NOT a meme.

The meme is the career choice of STEM, which is different. It is so because a bunch of normie fags with no real interest or talent get thrown to engineering because popular culture tells them "Go STEM! 300k starting! You all go to STEM so that we can pay you less goyim!".

So if you study science and mathematics on your own without going to college you are not falling for a meme.

If you are a STEM major in college but you had an interest in it before you even enrolled college and you also study advanced topics on your own because you enjoy it then you are not falling for a meme.

If you are a STEM major that never really cared about mathematics and just chose the first engineer discipline they saw and you do not study advanced topics on your own because you simply cannot be asked then you fell for the STEM meme.
>>
>>7714962
Not really related, but it kind of makes me wonder what's the difference between Technology and Engineering in the STEM acronym. Is technology considered just codemonkeying or what?

Does the earth lose thermal energy eccelerating it's self through the spaces?
12 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
>>7714941
>eccelerating it's self
It's not accelerating itself. Its movement, whether it has an acceleration or constant velocity (I think latter but I am not an expert on the movements of celestial bodies), is caused by the Sun's gravity.
>>
>>7714941
Is it possible to harness the earth's rotation to generate free energy?
>>
>>7714946
Ok but I mean if the wasn't excel keratin its self it would fall into a singularity right?

Might be a really stupid question, but i've always wanted to ask. What would happen here?
21 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>7714922
Surely you'd never make it to the other side. Once you pass the centre, gravity would pull you back towards the centre again, so you'd just oscillate about the centre until you eventually come to a halt in the middle.
>>
>>7714934
Add an Initial Velocity to the equation desu senpai............. Prob die but you would get to the other half.

how do science explains the testimonials of magical healings I see on christian TV?

I don't think 100% of them are completely BS, there must be at least some that can be considered magical I think.

at least the catholic church make heavy studies before claiming is a miracle.

I dunno about protestant scum though.

there are some weird shit like the spain 1920 solar eclipse that was seen only in some town.

Consider this equation:

A^x+B^y=C^z

Where A,B,C,x,y, and z are positive integers, x,y, and z being more than 2, and the largest common divisor of A,B, and C being 1.

Can this equation exist, and if it is impossible, why?
42 posts and 4 images submitted.
>>
go to bed wiles
>>
This equation cannot exist. You didn't actually write anything down.
>>
There aren't any solutions if x, y, and z are equal. That's a start.

So, some of you may have seen the picross puzzle that GCHQ released. If you haven't, then I shall fill you in:
GCHQ has released a picross puzzle.

Anyway, I solved it because I'm not a dunce who's never seen a picross puzzle before. It's a QR code that links to www.gchq.gov.uk/puzz
Thus, we get to this question (pic related) because I'm a dunce who can't solve things like this very quickly.

Shall we do this together /sci/? We might as well see what they want to show us.

Also, it's probably not STARLET, SAFFRON or TORRENT, since they each have one thing about them that's different from all the others.
>>
STARLET - has no double letters
SONNET - 6 letters instead of 7
SAFFRON - doesn't end in T
SHALLOT - ?
TORRENT - doesn't start with S
SUGGEST - ?
>>
>>7714771
SHALLOT has the double letters as its fourth and fifth characters, while the others have them as their third and fourth characters.

What is "reason"?

Off to >>>/his/ with your philosophy
>>
>>7714764
Come on, I'm sure the majority of you have thought about this, when thinking about science and math. About what's behind them
>>
>>7714778
No. It is philosophers that think about what's behind. That is why they have shit job prospects and are autistic manchildren.

We think about what's beyond and that is what makes us relatively successful so like anon said, fuck off to his.

i got an idea but idk if its illegal to strap cameras on them and send them places
>>
>>7714731
You're going to have to elaborate. Depending on where you want them to go it could be illegal.
