Hey /sci/ whats so fascinating about Pi exactly?
somewhere within pi it says "you're a faggot"
It's like fractals or some shit
Sci seems to be populated by very smart individuals. Can you guys give me reading material that will make me as smart as you? I want to be a genius.

With graph theory you can illustrate any knowledge or thought session

just read, baby
Go to a university and read the books your classes require and then asks for suggestions from your professors
Are there any other fellow cornellians on /sci/ who were present this morning to hear Neil Degrasse Tyson say this?
Seriously, WHAT THE FUCK? It sounded like some random gang related bullshit. Has he been taking drugs recently? Is he okay? I didn't even believe it until I saw the video. Why haven't more people reacted to it?
Post the video.
>>7716551
he wont cuz its bullshit, but still i had a great laugh when reading this shit and looking at Smokes face

Good job.
Help, /sci/.
Because of family stuff I've had to delay my schooling/college for about a year extra - which isn't too bad. I'm pulling into a spring semester course at the local community college to clear up some transcript errors before applying to a real university, the only problem I'm facing is my major.
I'm going to into biomechatronics, but there's no real set course or degree for it - what's the best way to figure out what exactly to take for it? A few people who are top in the industry study stuff like biophysics, and a few others study biomechanics -- what does sci recommend?
>>7716342
Either is fine if you study hard. You will figure out what you like and take the appropriate courses anyway.

probably over 9000

Why do most scientists don't care about politics or are just left wing because that whats cool now?I understand that they love science and might think politics don't matter have time but with the rising of the left and everything being censored because it hurts their feeling soon the only scientists will be the one who go into in women's studies,african-american studies and fat studies
>>7716051
Good refutation!
OP's a colossal faggot but colleges ARE getting kind of crazy with safe-space and appropriation bullshit.
STEM professors at yale got called 'out of touch' and 'disjointed from reality' for showing support for the professor who said that people should be allowed to wear halloween costumes and free debate should be encouraged
Is medicine a meme degree?
>>7715951
What makes a degree a "meme"?
With medicine you make so much bank
>>7716002
>With medicine you make so much bank
This is an incorrect meme. Unless you get into a leading position in a big hospital, you're just gonna be a wageslave employee.
>>7715998
No. It's a really important degree. Honestly, there is no such thing as "meme degree" unless we are talking about really absurd ones like women studies. Just study whatever you enjoy.
Let's talk about Inter-universal Teichmüller theory. Oh wait...

What is a Frobenioid? Explain please.
In order to view my math final exam grade via an excel spreadsheet my professor is putting together, and to avoid other students knowing each others scores, we are choosing code names which will be used for viewing grades.
what should my "codename" be for my math final?
the dude has a sense of humor, but has asked that the name not be crude, vulgar, or inappropriate. I leave for my final in 25 minutes. the answer with the most replies will be the name I use.
If it helps you decide, I will most likely get an A.
Be an arrogant little shit and use your real name

Moe Lester.

Should I try to re-learn all of algebra/precalculus within the next 4 weeks so that I can place into calculus and all of the classes that require me to concurrently take calculus, or should I play it safe, staying one year behind and take college algebra and not be able to take calculus until next fall? Is it possible to re-learn everything up to calculus within 4 weeks using something like khanacademy?
Algebra's piss-easy m8. Find an algebra final online or something and see how much you remember.

dont cram for a placement test that is the stupidest shit i ever heard
What, physically, are you calculating when you're solving a contour integral?
I was going to post a snarky reply but I stopped when I couldn't actually get an answer. The way I understand it is that contour integration is just one of (infinitely) many ways to compute the closed integral between two points where regular integration only allows one.
>>7715733
I see. How would you visualize it?
fun fact: In german there is no difference between line-, curve-, or contourintegral
basically you're always integrating along a contour in space (real or complex)
Weather discussion topic I guess. I just finished my degree in meteorology with a focus in thunderstorms. Ask me shit.
What is your stance on the role of humans in climate change?
>>7715604
I said meteorology, not climatology.
What effect does man made climate change have on meteors and their ology?
Anyone here who knows what the german "Informatik" equivalent in America is. We dont have comuter science , computer engy, computer programming, information technology .... we just have "Informatik".
>>7715401
Information technology.
I wonder if the shitty German university system will ever escape it's shitty industrial era tier mindset and catch up to Western universities.

With how much my physics professors curve grades I'm completely faking my way through my degree and I feel like an imposter
Maybe you should go to a university instead of a degree mill.

must be nice

Do you do homework and study in groups?
If Klein Bottles are 4th dimensional, and the Mobius Strip is like the 3rd Dimensional Klein Bottle, what would be the 5th Dimensional counterpart to the Klein Bottle and Mobius Strip?
>>7715081
Klein bottles aren't 4D though. They're 3D.
This guy sells them.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-k3mVnRlQLU
>>7715083
I think what OP means is an ideal klein bottle where the neck doesn't intersect the base in 4D.
>>7715285
this is relevant to my interests. why does in intersect in 3D but not in 4D. please explain to someone who knows nothing about topology.
