OK SO there's tons of research on microscopic objects and lots of development on equipment to aid us in seeing objects too small to be normally seen
but
Has there ever been any research on objects too LARGE to be seen? Things so large that they can't be normally detected by humans?
>>7732253
Yes. They're called "telescopes."
The only objects that cannot be seen because they are too large are the ones we're inside, and thus miss the forest for the trees. By allowing us to see very far out, we can pick up large-scale structure we wouldn't have noticed otherwise.
This is how we discovered the filamentous voids-and-walls structure of the Universe, and the shape of our own galaxy.
Yes, It´s called astronomy.
whats the evolutionary advantage of cuteness? was it an accident or part of the plan?
I thought evolution was always an accident
>>7731991
What mongoloid told you that
If children weren't cute parents would abandon them the first time they puke or need a diaper change.
Why did everyone start getting really obese when we began advising them not to eat animal fat?
Because vegetables' sole purprose is to accumulate as much energy as possible, and by eating vegetable fats we assimilated that purpose.
correlation and causation

proof of evidence pls, a citation is needed, your post lacks evidence, corrobate your statement. i dont believe u. insufficient evidence. provide evidence to support your claims. the burden of proof does not lie with me my friend, but with you. where is my proofs? there is no feasible evidence confirming such a statement. cite your sources. proofs.
Why do STEM majors, not related to computer science, need to learn programming? I had to take a programming course based on C++, why?
>>7731682
Because a lot of sciency stuff is made of boring and repetitive tasks that can be more easily and efficiently accomplished by a computer program. Also, simulations.
Anyway programming is damn easy, I don't know why someone would complain about that.
Physics requires to make simulations for experiments and models n shit
>>7731682
so everyone can switch to the computer science master race whenever they realize they're taking shit degrees
Does your field influence your choice of which class you play in TF2
No
I main medic but im a chemical engineer

AE/ME here,
No, I play heavy and Demoman

I think many on sci like the medic science he's an evil scientist
Let's have a thread on nice and useful videos that

Anybody got any updates on the Falcon 9 pad test fire and RTF that should be happening these days? Its been pretty quiet the last week
>>7731568
I heard (unconfirmed) that they did a static fire yesterday with a RTF due on Sunday night
>>7731568
You should really go to reddit for this, hate to admit it. Some of the guys there made a site dedicated to their launches and they know a lot, cause some of them are employees and many of them crazy spacex fanatics
>>7731604
Yeah good point. Only downside is that i have to learn how to navigate reddit to do that..:p
Why don't they award nobel prizes for engineering and technology?
>>7731481
Because engineering/technology is not science, its just a product of science.
Because they already award wealth and business success for people who achieve breakthrough technological and engineering results.
>>7731481
It would be weird if they did.
Scientists and researchers teach for money and research for glory.
Engineers engineer for money.
The scientist that does something great is special because the only incentive scientists have to publish is so that they are not dropped by their university so they could research anything. Most go for the low hanging fruit so that they can publish various papers a year without having to spend that much time. That is why those who go for the really hard questions despite this situation in academia are praised and given a prize.
Engineers don't have a system like that. You get paid to design and engineer. Of course you do it because you get money. Nothing special there.
So 2 years ago I fucked up real bad, and dropped out of school temporarily b/c of some alcohol + drug problems.
I got clean, and since then I have been working as hard as I possibly can to do well and fulfill my dream of working for the ESA. I might even get into Cambridge if I can secure an A* in Further Maths (!!!).
But... i think its making all my old friends hate me. I just had this conversation with one of my friends...
Is he right? Am I always going to alienate people and make them hate me?
They are just jealous that you've got your shit together and they haven't.
>>7731442
this is going to sound like it came from facebook but...
there will always be people who accept that you don't always have time for them

WTF is this GRE?
Why are anglos need thousands of formal words to communicate? How am I supposed to memorize all of them?
Why is it a requirement for engineering schools? How is this gonna help me become a good engineer?

An engineer is only as good as his communication skills, senpai
>>7731417
If you can't speak English you need to leave school and this website.
So, /sci/, is free will just an illusion? Are all of our decisions just the result of some un-casual particles interactions?
>>7731337
This is a board for science and math discussion. This topic has nothing to do with science, and promotes the worst kind of pop-philosophy and fedora that we get in /sci/. Please stop.
>>7731337
Can you prove free will ?
>>7731337
Can you prove anything?
I had some questions about human physiology, biology, physcology, and sex.
Is a girl's lust for big dick in any way related to biological benefits. (I can see why girls like tall guys, because big males = strong protector and healthy children).
Who feels more pleasure during sex, assuming the partners are both 10/10.
Is a there a scientific measurement for sexual pleasure.
Is smoking meth really more pleasurable than sex?
>>7731258
>Is a girl's lust for big dick
It's a meme bruh, stop paying attention to faggots on 4chan.
>(I can see why girls like tall guys, because big males = strong protector and healthy children).
Stop paying attention to faggots doing evo psych, it's practically pseudo-science.
big dick = more testosterone = stronger immune system = more resistant to disease = higher chance of surviving
>>7731258
>Is a girl's lust for big dick in any way related to biological benefits.
No. Very unlikely. Not sure all women lust after sheer size either, most probably don't.
>Who feels more pleasure during sex, assuming the partners are both 10/10.
Depends on mental state and context for each partner, as well as individual physiology / genital morphology. As well as if the male is circumcised.
Too many factors to really say anything. It's hard to put perception against perception, other than via self reporting. More precise fMRI studies aren't really conclusive either.
>Is a there a scientific measurement for sexual pleasure.
See above. There are a number of metrics and aspects you can try to measure and extrapolate, but none are adequate. It's not like visualizing individual neurons in the visual cortex and seeing how it responds to a gradient or hard edge in the subject's visual fields. It's a very large system, and even fully understanding it might not give you the real answer.
>Is smoking meth really more pleasurable than sex?
No. There is more to pleasure than dopamine / norepinephrine.
Anyone here quit STEM professionally? I originally just came here because /diy/ was useless for calculations but now I stay because it feels good to sit back and watch all the rats gnawing at each other now that I am not one of them.
>Elitism
>Autism
>Study till you drop culture
>Stimulant culture
>Mundane lab work because all the juicy stuff has already been done
>Endless exams
>Terrible social image (pic related)
>Cerebrotonic lifestyle
>Shitty job market
Id have stuck through ot all if it wasnt for the last one but the fact is there is no financial reward for throwing your social life away for chemistry.
OK, let's break this down:
>Elitism
Pure maths elitists are fooling themselves if they think they're employable, whereas engineers and technicians are some of the most down to earth people I've ever met
>Autism
The very definition of autism is a maths nerd. Applied scientists and engineers however are usually pretty normal in my experience.
>Study till you drop culture
It's study till you graduate culture, actually. What's the matter, kid, you still at school?
>Mundane lab work
Sounds like you chose a shitty topic of research. Scientific research is the most stimulating thing there is.
>Already been done
Read more literature and you won't get scooped like a amateur
>Endless exams
UnderageB& pls go
>Terrible social image
Stereotypes will change as technology becomes more mainstream. Geek culture has been mainstream for years.
>Cerebrotonic lifestyle
I had to google this because any normal person would have used the word introverted, (are you are trying to impress somebody?). Most people employed in STEM had to go through interviews and are therefore likely to have reasonable people skills.
>Shitty job market
Science and tech jobs are everywhere. They are competitive sure, but that just weeds out all the plebs like OP. STEM job opportunities can only grow with time so I have no idea what you are on about m8.
In conclusion: OP is faggot
I have to agree that the competitive 'job market' sucks ass and if it got rid of, it would all be better off
>>7731011
Remember when OP got BTFO?
I do.
i'd like to know what this shit means
It means bass players are faggots and their solos consist of a maximum of two notes

>>7730992
You are just jealous of God Myung.
Say there was only two people left on Earth, a man and a woman. What would be the best way for them to breed and minimize the damage of inbreeding to get a decent tribe going?
>>7730888
Make as many children as possible. If one dies, the others may still live.
Have loads of kids and immediately seperate them entirely from one another so that they grow up in different environments
Then at puberty identify those with the most contrasting personalities and force them to procreate and create the third generation
Rinse and repeat
>>7730888
I would not try and repopulate the earth. The woman could easily die in childbirth, and whoops! no pussy for the rest of your life.
If you were the only dude on the earth and the girl was dtf, you could probably foster some pretty heavy emotional dependence on you.
With time, you could get her to indulge in pretty much any depraved sexual fantasy -- both of you would be bored out of your minds, and she would hate to let you down.
Do people really care enough about the human race to repopulate it if it's already wiped out?
