Did proto-humans go through a semi-aquatic phase?
It's not at all supported by the fossil record. The most water that any recent ancestor of ours was exposed to was due to fishing or being in the rain or whatever... but that's not at all the same thing.

There is basically no similarity between the two majors. Chemical Engineers use chemistry, but you don't learn about molecules in any upper-level courses, you learn how to take some reaction or some process that a chemist has given you already, look at it, make it bigger/smaller/faster/better? It might as well be called "tube engineering". Or it's like calling Electrical Engineering "pure mathematics engineering". You get paid a lot though, and it's still pretty cool.

Stop trying to divide us.
It's one of the only, maybe the only, engineering/science combination that actually get along with one another without trying to act superior over the other. We work in the same places, we are involved in essentially the same projects, hell it's even essential for us to communicate with each other in the industry. We specialize in different topics, but from what I hear chemEs in pharmaceuticals are expected to know a lot of ochem and industrial chemists have some knowledge of mass transport.
Chemist here, but I'm cool with my chemE bros.
>smoking and secondhand smoke is unhealthy
>global warming is contributed by man/man made
>vaccines are never harmful
>just listen and believe you guys
Why are most scientists now total retards? Is it liberalism?
>>7721286
>>smoking and secondhand smoke is unhealthy
>>global warming is contributed by man/man made
It's absurd to say either of these is completely false, it's just a matter of extent.
>>vaccines are never harmful
Literally no scientist says this. What they do say is that the benefits outweigh the risks.
>>7721286
But this year is going to be the warmest ever recorded.
>>7721296
>It's absurd to say either of these is completely false, it's just a matter of extent
The extent is so ludicrously small that it is irrelevant, especially for second/firsthand smoking. It has scientists who obviously hate it making he rules, but those who like smoking have actually proven that it isn't bad for you and is only bad for a very small number of genetically weak people.

>Literally no scientist says this. What they do say is that the benefits outweigh the risks.
A lot of them say that even spacing apart the number of vaccines a child gets and at what age they get them isn't necessary, even though probably it is.

What is the biological purpose of schadenfreude? Why does it make me laugh when someone gets hurt? Just recently I lol'd my ass off when I heard my neighbor had cancer. I barely even know that guy. Really wondering, at what point in evolution did schadenfreude develop? Can monkeys laugh at other monkey's pain?
>>7739941
Being happy that you are healthy? making it seem valuable to be healthy from a biological standpoint I guess.
Never heard of the term but laughing at others unfortunate events is a coping mechanism. As the other anon pointed out, it gives you perspective on your own health. Additionally it negates your urges to worry or think about how bad it would be to have cancer and be told you have 1 year to live. You can just laugh, be labelled as cruel and move on with your day instead of being labelled as death row.

Would I be an idiot to try to haul ass through Khan Academy and other various supplemental texts to place into Calculus 1 before university starts in the next three weeks? I feel like I'd be wasting my time taking Trigonometry or College Algebra. My plan right now is to study every other hour that I'm awake for the next three weeks, taking the placement test one time in the middle to see my progress, and then one last time at the end to see if I made the cut.
Not necessary. People who have the edge in the first week tend to fall back to the median during the first month anyway.
Just chill mang.
>>7739074
What do you mean? The recommended schedule for my major(EE) is calculus 1 for the first semester.
>>7739072
Don't do that. The easy classes will give your GPA a boost while you're adjusting to college and you can never have too much algebra and trig practise before taking calculus.
It's always the algebra and trig that fucks you in the ass not the calculus stuff (because that's actually exciting and interesting so it's easier to learn).
