Why do computers have perfect memory but memory in human brains is complete shit and inefficient?
Where did evolution go wrong?

>but memory in human brains is complete shit and inefficient
[citation needed]
Our memory is perfect as well. We just keep most stuff in temporary files and only permanently write the ones we think are important. We also constantly delete small bits and useless parts.

Drugs.
Is the fact that most people are right handed a result of biology or culture? Or both?
Could it be because those language regions are found in the left hemisphere?
A better question is, why can't people naturally use both hands equally effective ? It's not like we can walk so well with one foot but just keep dragging the other one.
>>7797282
Probably just a lack of practice. There's really not much point learning to use both hands equally well at difficult fine motor tasks, and dedicating the time and neurons to such a feat would be costly.
>>7797285
But even though you're not tought to use a certain hand, babies tend to use one hand for holding objects or pointing at stuff or scratching. Just as people tend to use a certain foot when kicking a football or jumping while running.
I took a photo of this structure on top of a hill near a volcanic valley in Japan. Does it look like a seismometer or just a radio tower?
Was it really hot or did you just have a crappy camera
>>7797268
I'm using 30x zoom with a compact camera in that shot.
>>7797265
That's a radio tower. Seismometers are small.
Jesus fuck, /sci/. I just woke up from a terrifying nightmare. The worst part is that I have had it before. And the worst part about that is that the last time I had it was two years ago and was far removed from my conscious mind.
Anybody know if it's normal to have dreams years down the line even though you've completely forgotten it? Like, this I'm genuinely curious if this is a thing that happens to other people to this extent and why.
Whats the dream ?

Me and my parents go to a funeral home in the middle of a cemetery. My dad is going there to get some sort of a medical check up for some reason and there's a burn victim writhing in pain on the autopsy table my dad's going to be lying on.
Afterwards, I end up alone in the cemetery with this man following me. I know he's there, but when I look he'll be somewhere else. The entire experience is fucking horrifying and I'm not about to try and fall back asleep now.
>>7797269
Well, pushing the dream will only makes it come back. Confrontation is the solution. If you don't freak out and let the dream play out, the mind can get rid of it. As long as you can't it keeps it in its subconscious.
Who else here has trouble going to sleep because of thinking about what they learned in math/physics in school today and its different implications/applications. It seems like I get way to excited and end up only sleeping for 4 hours/night. Why is this?
*too. shit sry
>>7797117
It happens to me as well. Tey going to sleep earlier and excercise a hour during the day.
Maybe try not studying after 19

There are more than likely very legitimate arguments against having Nuclear power plants in California, but Im not grinding through the ore to find the gems here OP either present some key points or fuck off.
Hey /sci/.
Im awful at math. Or rather, I have terrible math anxiety and I guess what you would call "technique."
To me, I see math as steps to solve a problem;
Step A, then B, and so on and so fourth.
Thing is, I mess these steps up.
Im currently learning Quadratic Functions. Specifically, "Completing th Square" and "Vertex Form."
Math stresses me out, and it ruins my day due to my inability to use proper form while solving problems.
I really need advice. I don't want to be put into an easier class. Please help me.
What can I do to improve my solving techniques?
Pic unrelated
Are you self teaching or is your professor just that bad?
>>7796991
1. Stop blaming "math anxiety."
2. Solve more exercises
It's not hard.
Or rather, the method of understanding something isn't hard. Sometimes understanding is difficult, but that just means you need to do more work.
Are you having trouble understanding the concept or do you just forget how to do something and make errors? Open up an algebra textbook and read the book's method of solving or go to khamacademy and hear sal's lucious voice. Learning it from something else can be helpful in understanding a topic. If it's practice you need, download some worksheets or find more practice from your teacher.

People say that sexual interaction with people below a certain age damages them (not talking about hymens).
Where's the scientific evidence?
I have a cousin that got raped as a child, she got mentally damaged.
It's traumatic as fuck.
