Hey guys, fa/tg/uy here. I'm going to become a dad soon and I've been reading a lot on vaccines and I'm not sure what to believe or not. What's your opinions on them? How do you feel about the toxins in them, and other Chemicals?
>>7810172
>How do you feel about the toxins in them, and other Chemicals?
They're generally negligible, non-lethal, and sort of hypoallergenic in a democratic sense.
>>7810172
If you really need to ask an anonymous science board about vaccines, then you probably shouldn't vaccinate your children.
We can only hope your offspring die before they pass on their genetic information, and thus that your defective genetics reaches a dead end.
For you, the infinitely small chance that any negative event comes out of vaccinating your children is negligible in comparison to the fragile-x syndrome tier retarded genetics they inherit from you
>>7810173
Okay, that's interesting, but what about the other things like negative reactions? I've heard some kids have even died from it
How do you pronounce this symbol, /sci/?
Personally, I pronounce it like I would pronounce the letter d.
I say partial
>>7810034
partial derivative of
>>7810034
I switch between beta and omega as I feel it wise.
Is zero a natural number?
>Is zero a natural number?
Yes.
it's a placeholder for the additive identity.
>>7809373
retard
>>7809378
You're wrong. It's a natural number.
>>7808534
>9gag
>>7808539
I'm honestly stumped. I'm an idiot, though. I think you're joking, but if that's the right answer, then how is it?
>>7808547
Do you drive manual or automatic?
Have we just entered the glorious age of private space competition?
I am talking about SpaceX and BlueOrigin. Both of them are creating re-usable rockets.

We are living in interesting times. The forces of market competition and what is achieves is incredibly. It seems to me once again capitalism saves the day. I hope that within 60 years we will mine the shit out of space.
>>7807017
I just hope in the dystopian capitalistic future a poorly vetted disgruntled space miner doesn't kill his coworkers in the darkness of space, one by one, and then hurtle the nickle-iron-palladium minor planet he works on into the Earth.
You'll never see investments and strides on the scale of the cold war again in your life-time
Expect it to be very slow long process for private space programs to actually go anywhere
>>7807057
That sounds awesome though
IIT: Underrated science/math schools.
ITT: Faggots who went to shitty schools lie to make themselves feel better. Stay mad.
>>7801565
hahaha epic poast my friend, you sure trolled them hard xD
It's that time again. Post progress.
>currently working through "Adding and subtracting fractions with unlike denominators word problems"
>genuinely enjoying myself and having fun learning
I have a poor public school education of maths, and some brain problems so I love the fact that I can somewhat teach myself maths and learn all of this shit. Slowly but surely.
>>7795059
Nice going, keep it up.
>>7795059
This is what I'm at so far
>>7795073
How long did it take you to get that far? I'm only six days in.
So, /sci/, getting into higher and higher semesters, I have to do more presentations especially in physics-related classes. I use Latex to write in general but presentations don't look better than Office using Latex.
So, I wondered, what software do you use? Is there something particularly useful for sciences?
>inb4 /adv/
>>7815070
Spiral notebook + overhead
It's the only software that truly respects my freedom
>>7815070
latex obviously, if you suck at making it look good (like it seems you do) just use a simple template like the millions available, and make a sober, serious presentation like a normal human being
>>7815070
What's wrong about beamer? Is amazing
guise, srsly, what are we going to do about global warming? We only got 3 feet of snow in Virginia. Its really, uh, concerning.
global warming is a meme
you know its a meme
why r u posting memes here ?
>>7815016
because it's a meme, and people post memes.
>>7815006
>look mom i posted it again
I would kill myself if I were you, honestly
When I was thirteen, my mom made me pull out a bunch of flowers from her garden box and they caused me to get a huge, painful rash all along my arms. And now it's years later and I'm trying to figure out what kind of plant it was. I know I'd recognize it if I saw it, but thus far Google and the sites Google pulls up have been useless.
What I remember:
>herbaceous
>tiny flowers, possibly in small bunches
>I'm 90% sure the flowers were white and I'm 100% sure the ends of the petals were pointed
>it grew very, very densely with deep roots
>in Southern California, and I think it was a weed
Sorry if this isn't much with which to work. And It's not super important or anything, it's just been driving me crazy these last couple days. I'll try to answer any follow-up questions. Picture unrelated.
>>7814988
A recent survey showed that we are 90% math majors and the rest are engineers.
I'd ask somewhere else, unless you want someone to explain the topology of a plant.
>>7815007
Well, shoot. My backup plan is to go to an arboretum or something but then I'd have to, like. Go outside.
>you want someone to explain the topology of a plant
That does sound interesting.
The closest visual match I can find is the false rue anemone, but it grows on the other side of the continent.
I'll be politely sage-ing unless anyone else shows interest.
Hi /sci/
I cannot for the life of me understand how the voltage in this electrical system works.
The voltage used is in the european system. For the U.S it will be 220V for L1-L2 and 110V L1-N.
What I cannot comprehend is the voltage drop when L1 or L2 is connected to the Neutral wire, cause I've been told that the current won't actually be flowing though the neutral, but it will go from L1 to Neutral then return via L2, but how come the voltage drops to 230 then?
What makes the path different if you just skip the little piece of interconnecting neutral wire and connect L1 & L2 to each other directly?
>>7814893
is there a phase shit between the two lines?
>>7814910
>shit
oops, I meant shift
>>7814893
but the curent from both lines DOES return through the neutral, that's why it's there in the first place.
How do you learn from books faster?
Everytime there is something I don't understand in a book, it took me really long to figure out. Sometimes it took me days.
However, if I have a chance to ask my professor or anyone who knew about the material, I can get it pretty much instantly.
Of course professors and helpers are not always available for everything I want to learn, so I have to study with books alone most of the time. But I find it not very productive that I can't read books faster than I was supposed to.
I think I did it wrong but I don't know how to improve.
If you guys have any general routine to work on a book, I would really appreciate.
Anyway, i took me 3 months to finish a book (while also have to study for other courses in the school). Is this amount normal or too long?
>>7814884
>Anyway, i took me 3 months to finish a book
The book is about 800-1000 pages.
For those with 300-400 pages, It took me about 1-2 months.
you need to read them more then once to grasp the material.
also you should train yourself to read faster. 50 pages per day and it should take you 6-8 days to read a 300-400 page book. maybe two weeks tops if you're being really lazy.
I also sometimes take notes of important terminology that just won't get into my head rather then having to flip back and forth between the pages.
>>7814894
What about exercise?
Also, do you have to fully understand every bit of the book?
Sometimes, there's an example that I don't understand in the chapter but I keep focusing on it. If I move on I can read faster but it just bugs me.

Yeah ok. Here's the site it's from. http://crypto.cs.ubbcluj.ro/
How do I get funding for an invention? It's simple enough for me to build a prototype but to take it further I will need more money. Has anyone on /sci/ ever invented and marketed anything? Obviously I can't tell you anything but judging by the positive reception to some other idea of mine that I "gave away for free" on /sci/ (balanced lobe motor) it is probably a good idea.
>>7812537
Build prototype
Go to bank
Show prototype
Ask for loan
Also lawyer for patents, but I'm sure they will advise you at the bank for that
>>7812537
go to a company that sells related products and sell them your rights (you ahve to convince them it's a good invention obviously). You also have to make sure it's patentable, because if it isn't there's no way they'll buy your idea instead of just copying it.
>>7812540
I have bad credit. I was thinking kickstarter, good idea?
How would Earth be different if it had rings?
How should those rings be if we want to avoid a constant meteorite rain?
>>7812076
You mean instead of a moon? Well, the tides for one.
If the Earth had rings. They'd merge into a moon.
Albeit a smaller moon than the one we have.
I guess they would have advanced our spacefaring capabilities, lots of rocks to investigate/claim.
