Does masturbation destroy your brain cells or is it a myth? Each time I masturbate i feel dumber, have more trouble to concentrate, have a shorter attention span, have shittier short term memory...etc.
So is masturbation bad for your brain or not?
>tfw beat it twice a day for the last year and a half
>tfw 3.84 GPA first semester senior graduating early
Why wouldn't sex have the exact same effect as masturbation?
>>7958158
>TFW not 3.85
>people said actuarial science was a lot of math

There's your mistake anon and you're an idiot for making it. Normally people just major in math and take the actuary exams on the side. Ya don fucked up anon.
>>7958138
The actuarial math programme at my university also has even less pure math classes than most applied degrees despite only being offered by the math department.
Then agian it's much more difficult to get in and stay in the actuarial math programme and actuarial math students are far more respected than pure math.
If your goal is to impress real, serious people and get a decent job you made the right choice. If your goal is to impress some loser autist on 4chan -we'll actually I still respect you more than pure math undergrads to be honest.
Is your spouse in STEM as well? How do they like it? Does their field compliment yours?
My gf is in her second year of electrical engineering and hearing her talk circuits is an instant boner.
Pic unrelated.

>My gf
What the actual fuck? Where are all the cucks coming from? Go back to /sjw/ and tumblr, please.
>Having a girlfriend
>Not just pumping a dumping
My girlfriend is a biologist. Personally I couldn't give less of a shit about turtles or bacteria or whatever but she loves it all, and I'm glad she's not doing something useless like geography.
>>7958227
Why does /sci/ hate Biology? Nature is so nice.
What's /sci/'s opinion on autism?
Also diagnosed autist, ask me anything if you want, but i'm more interested in what /sci/ thinks of autism in general.
>inb4 mean ignorant comments

So you like study math and physics?
What's your scientific opinion on autisn
>>7958055
E=mc^2
Remember it being referred to as 'intense world syndrome'
Redpill me on photonics, /sci/. Is it the future? Will old school electrical engineers become jobless because of it? Is it a good field to study?

Is there anything algorithmic that makes Tay special? All discussion about the AI's actual mechanism has been buried by popsci spam calling it a cleverbot-tier chatbot or a self-aware general intelligence, none of these people know what a markov model or a neural net is. It's surprisingly hard to find a source where i can get the details straight.
Other than the shitposting, what did microsoft do here that was new or interesting? Recurrent neural networks are obviously nothing new.
> mfw %80 of the replies on 4chan is Tay botposts
> mfw it's a large scale experiment to simulate conversing people with personalities and ideologies based on internet data
> mfw they're taking over

This. I can't find anything that isn't sensationalist crap about how it's a Nazi.
I want to know more about it, not just that it made tweets about Hitler.
>>7957972
If you want to know more, why don't you juts read the source code instead of complaining on 4chan?
Why does the universe have to come from anything? I mean, considering how insignificant we are and how little we can physically grasp about our universe, why can't the universe just be? Why does it have to have a source just because we say it does
>>7957899
Serious people don't say that it has to have a source. It isn't proven that it has one, it isn't proven that it doesn't.
The fact that some people want to believe that it has an origin comes from either life experience and common sense bias, or from a cultural idea that things must have been created in order to exist. I hear some asian cultures don't see things that way.
>>7957899
So you believe the universe has (or at least possibly has) always existed?
Awhile ago when I was showering I had left my phone in my room so I was just alone to think lol and I sorta came to my own personal conclusion of this;
When you try really hard you fail, with light there's dark, with life there's death and I kinda realized everything is basically an opposite, and I thought deeper about it and kinda thought, the opposite of everything is nothing and that's how I rationalize believing the universe came from nothing because the like I said a moment ago, the opposite of everything is nothing.
>when you realize every state of matter is just a collection of phase-shifted superfluid particles bound by electromagnetism or gravity

Is there such a thing as a 'big tits' gene?
of course there is
there are genes for fucking everything; you honestly believe there isn't one that tells the female body how much fat to distribute to the mammary region? cmon man use your brain

Could we isolate it and make a race of women with massive tits?

Is there a scientific way to make myself more confident and alpha and stop being a cowardly beta wimp?
>>7957564
Become an adrenaline junkie
Do high-dives, drive fast, etc
Do meth and fuck whores
Beta-blockers
reduces the fight or flight response
alcohol also works but impairs your judgment
the rest is in your head
Have lots of sex with hot women
I know that the number of subsets of a set containing n elements is 2^n. But what is the maximum number of sets that can be created from these elements that none of them are a subset of another?
e.g I don't want to count set {1,2} if I count set {1,2,3}
>>7957485
n + 1 for n sets each containing 1 element plus the null set?
>>7957770
Null set is a subset of every set, so maybe not that.
n seems legit though, if you put any two elements in a set together then you'd lose the sets containing only the single elements.
>>7957770
Null set doesn't count because it is a subset of all those singe element sets. Also, your answer is wrong. Consider {1,2,3,4} -> {1,2},{1,3},(1,4},{2,3},{2,4},{3,4}, which is more than the 4 single element sets.
Answer is n choose floor(n/2)
Are there any groups of humans who have DNA that is vastly divergent from every other group of humans?
I want serious scientific answers if possible please and no racist or blatantly ideological ones.
>>7957472
I'm not sure what you mean, there's plenty of isolated populations worldwide.
Different races are the example of divergent evolution at a starting level, it doesn't get more "vast" than this.
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but if you aren't north/ sub saharan african then you're not of the purest human genes so I guess you are divergent?
>>7957472
Mutants from X-Men are not real.
Mutations happen constantly, each individual human probably has quite a few mutations in their unique DNA. Most of the time this results in no noticeable change. Sometimes it results in decreased fitness or death. Very rarely will a mutation actually create a benefit and improve fitness.
Are there any books to introduce me to stimulants, and tell me which ones are safer and more dangerous. I heard that Adderall is worse than which blew my mind. What can I read, so I don't fall into any traps like that?
>>7957426
I would start with the PDR
http://www.pdr.net/
and google scholar
>Adderall is worse than which
worse than what?
Adderall is a mixture of amphetamine salts.
It works but probably isn't so great for your cardiovascular health.
>>7957429
>worse than what?
meth. Holy fuck that's a bad typo. Thanks, man.
>>7957430
It's not worse or better than meth, purely taking the adverse health effects.
However, in practice, you're likely to consume more meth and thus do greater damage.
(not the guy you replied to though)
From an unbiased point of view, do you guys think Anti-Gravity research has potential to bear great results? What's the current status on it, if it's still relevant? It's quite the wondrous concept to fantasize about, but the sole fact that it goes against Einstein's words seems to have put it in a bad light since the 90.
>>7957359
None of it has be reproduced or if it has returned null results. It's currently a crank field and it'll stay that way for the foreseeable future.
>>7957364
Shame, anti-grav transportation sounds like such a promising prospect.
>>7957390
