So there does exist transgender scientists. Interesting how this guy happens to be female-to-male. Can females and male-to-females just not into science? I have never heard of any successful ones.
I just cannot ever understand how a trans person can become a biology major when they reject their own biology by claiming to be something they are not.
Then again, why are most scientists big time liberals? My biological anthropology instructor even said that 'gender' belongs to social anthropology while for biological anthropology you study 'sex'. These are the same exact term yet scientists seem to be treating them differently.
I should fear for the progress of science if we allow mentally ill deviants into such critical fields of study?
I mean, what is next? A transgender psychiatrist?

They really don't. You only think so because you have a biased view of how a woman should look. This could be caused by a variety of factors such as 4chan and/or residing in your parent's basement cut off from the opposite gender.
As a Doctor, I can confirm this.

It's like what they say... men age like a fine wine while women age horribly.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH FAGGOT
Can someone explain the big bang to me?
I've read the wiki article but I'm a bit confused.
So the universe exploded out from a single point? But then the wiki article states that
>In the most common models the universe was filled homogeneously and isotropically with a very high energy density and huge temperatures and pressures and was very rapidly expanding and cooling.
so it was homogeneous as the big bang happened? then expanded and cooled as it exploded?
I also seem to remember reading somewhere that the universe came into existence everywhere and wasn't an "explosion"
for ~300,000 years, things fizzled into existence throughout all possible, physical space.
Now, things have condensed. It will only get worse as things won't stop accelerating.
We are some of the first kids in space.
>>8015373
You have a point. Using your picture it is point 0. In this point is a lot of energy and matter. All of this energy and matter can't fit in such a tiny point so it explores out. It then follows the rest of your spectrum on the picture. Try to think of it like if you forced a lot of stuff into a suitcase that couldn't hold all that stuff.
>>8015384
So the universe is expanding from a singular point though?
I've never taken a physics course or a calculus course. Yet, i'm here at a ok uni majoring in physics. I was at the lowest of the math classes, now I've taken 2 courses this year and i'm taking 2 more math courses in the summer to get to Calc 1 and my first physics course. I've taken the measures of talking to my future physics professors and even set up a project that I've received funding by the school to do. I still have doubts that i'm gonna fail when the the real stuff starts rolling. People try to be nice but are usually shocked when a "physics" major has never taken a calc course or a physics course. So I come here to ask what are my chances of succeeding and if you guys have any tips.
Sorry, about the blog.
I mean, you haven't done anything physics related yet, so get on it. A weak mathematical background will make studying physics pretty terrible.
Why are you majoring in physics if you don't have any experience with it?
>>8015365
>lowest of the math classes
you have high goals
is the answer B? why or why not?
>>8015337
you should atleast put the answer in the god damn choices

No possible answer up there
Any math majors in here ever looked at a symbolic logic course from a philosophy department. I'm not talking about some basic "logic" or "critical thinking" course where they introduce deduction and argumentation. What's your guys' opinion on it?
Yeah, I've done it. It was essentially a math class.
>>8015257
Just take the mathematical logic course in the math department.
If two drops of water were shot at eachother with equal force ina zero gravity environment, would the combined drop stop in place?
pic unrealated.
This is my first time on this board be nice
>>8015229
No they'd go thru each other
>>8015250
That's even cooler
>>8015250
I disagree on this. Wouldn't there be some kind of collision or attempt of forming larger ball of water between the water drops because of Newton's laws?
Remember, every action has a equal and opposite reaction. So wouldn't they have to be some opposion instead of just passing directly through something?

Any EEs here? Can you recommend me a program for drawing electric schematics?
Additionally, is there some place where I can search for the damn pieces of an schematic?
>>8015063
pSPICE
>search for the damn pieces of an schematic?
if you mean models for the components, the manufacturers will usually provide a SPICE model on their website.
>>8015073
>SPICE
I'm not looking for a simulator though. Just something that lets draw schematics. Is pSPICE good for that too?
And I mean that I have some electric schematics on hand (on paper) and I want to find out what some of the symbols are.
>>8015078
yup, pSPICE comes with a pretty sick GUI front end.
>I want to find out what some of the symbols are.
do you mean that you see for example a transistor symbol you don't know what it means? if that's the case then I can't help you...maybe pick up an electronics book lol.
Could someone explain to me what flat earthers believe the Earth (and the greater universe) is like, and why? I know that they're idiots, but it is just wrecking my brain trying to imagine a universe where the Earth is flat.
>>8014966
Their reasoning is that since the Earth feels like it's flat, it must be flat. Literally as simple as that. It's just an example of people oversimplifying things for their liking, like evolution or Earth-centrism or whatever.
>>8014977
I get that, but when they consider what the universe is, or at least what physical existence is, what do they imagine it as?
>>8014966
Because it is flat.
There is a invisible teleportation ring put in place by god to transport humans to the other side. It is to keep us contained within our planet.
How feasible would you say this is, /sci/?

Hull of a boat of course easy. If fly up with low speed, hull can be cheap. Management panel by modern electronics. Fuel and Engine may be more tricky. May be fuel can be from Thorium Reactor and and an engine by Biefeld–Brown effect, but I do not calculated this, just an idea flying in air.

Not very.

this kind of ship has to be build in space, I dont think we have the kind of resources to do that yet.
What are some examples of functions of x and y or complex functions that diverge when approaching a given closed plane figure and stay unbounded/undefined within the enclosed region?
Are poles like this fundamentally different from "thin" poles that diverge into a line-like object (approaching a point)?
What are some functions that generally have an uncountable set of poles?
In particular what are some functions whose set of zeroes or poles is of measure >0?
Well?
Surely there are such functions?
What if they're twins?
I really want to know. I've been thinking about this question for years.
>>8014669
Originally a bird that was not a chicken laid an egg containing a bird that was a chicken.
>>8014678
Yeah but, where did that bird came from?
>>8014687
From an egg produced by some other organism that doesn't meet the criteria for being a specific bird. Etc. ad infinitum.
Simple answer to this question is evolution. Sure you can keep repeating this question and ask where life came from...
So I signed up to be an organ donor today so there can be a small chance in "death" that I may help someone.
I can't lie I get scared just thinking about what they do to my body immediately after "brain death"
Do you guys think we donors feel pain?
Also why are so few people organ donors?
Is it mostly fear like myself?
I feel my fear and limited earthly pain are far smaller concerns than someone else's life that's why I made this decision.
I really fear that I'm going to feel pain why couldn't they use anesthesia even after brain death?
Why the fuck is death in quotes. no genius, you die, you feel nothing, people just like to preserve their bodies, because some reason when they are dead they still think there is sanctity is preserving their bodies.
and stop being such a pussy, save a life, take some pain if you really think through some spirit "science" that you will feel it
>>8014643
I don't believe in spirits I just know that the body reacts as if it's in pain.
I know the same can be seen in eating dead octopus and froglegs (add salt)
But still the mere possibility is terrifying as they can keep you body alive indefinitely
