How do you imagine sounds without hearing them? Like, sau, if you have a song stuck in your head.

You brain makes you behave and report information (e.g. you narrate "I've got that song stuck in my head again" and form memories about you narrating that so that memories / thoughts crop up around the pseudo-hearing event) to yourself in a similar way to how it would if you were in the presence of actual sound. The mystery of "qualia" goes away if you just stick to the actual behavioral stuff surrounding what you're led to believe are these "experience" things you're encountering. The "experience" idea is just a placeholder abstraction your brain has you behave in terms of as a simplified version of the actual messy physiological shit that goes down, analogous to how you might build simplified user interfaces to keep users from messing around with the important mechanics that makes their tool work under the hood. The "experiences" seem so immediate / irreducible / undeniably real exactly because they aren't real at all and you're just being fed a story *about* them being that way. It's like if instead of using a valid fingerprint to get past a fingerprint lock you just figured out how to communicate a false message to the lock that a valid fingerprint was detected. The lock behaves as though the right finger was placed down but all it had in reality was a message saying "the right finger was placed down."

I see a scene like in a theater and somehow at the same time weird, spikey, differently colored wavelike "things". Has been like that as long as I remember.

A machine combines 3 classes of parts into an assembly.

All 3 classes can have many different types and can be used multiple times on the same assembly.

The final assembly doesn’t necessarily contain all 3 parts.

The machine can only hold X types of class1, Y types of class2, Z types of class3. The machine must be stopped to change out the part types.

How does one determine the most efficient way to group the types to minimize changeovers?

Would appreciate any insight or resources on how to solve this type of problem.

Can you just post the actual question? I can't answer your generalized version because it's leaving out most of the information I'd need to solve it. I'm not even really sure exactly what you're asking to solve the way you phrased it, like do the different classes have different rates at which they'll end up needing to be changed out and do they cost different amounts? Basically just post the original question as is without the paraphrasing.

so say you have to make a 1000 pencil assemblies of varying designs. Your assembly machine can only feed and infinite amount of one type of blank at a time, 3 types of metal rings and 2 types of erasers. How do you determine which types to load with eachother to minimize changing out types

What determines when you need to change out types?

Currently writing a sci-fi novella where two naval forces engage in a massive dogfight. Both have nuclear weapons in the form of fighter-to-fighter missiles, high yield orbital mines, torpedoes, and cluster bombs.

I chose nuclear weapons for the first draft because they were the first thing that came to mind when I thought "I want some big boomy things, some little boomy things, and I want flashy, grand potential destruction by conventional terms".

The technology used by either side is a more developed form of conventional kinetic weaponry.

One side uses large caliber rounds with multiple effects, the other fire's bolts of (mostly ineffective) plasma.

I was approaching the end of the first draft when the thought came to me, "Alright, so these ships burn up from the burning gases released, so incendiary rounds are alright. How does the plasma leave the barrels? Maybe it fires out from a magnetic field generated in the barrel like a gauss gun? And nukes. Okay, and I wrote them as releasing shockwaves. But space lacks an atmosphere. I like the shockwaves though."

I've thought about specifying the nuclear weapons as using nuclear fusion, but I'm still not sure as to what exactly can create powerful shock waves in the vacuum of space that parallels the blow-back affect in an atmosphere'd environment that would justify using explosive weaponry.

The rest of the material in the nukes.
Have the nukes triggered by high explosive compression of a fissile core, then there's lots of gas from the explosive. And say the missile shells are made from lots of some high density metal alloy that melts and gets spat out in all directions as high velocity radioactive needles.
>>
You wanna really spice things up, zero-point energy field shockwaves. Though that's probably way higher tech than what you're going for.

What if time is a framing for an infinite dimension across which all dimensions meet to form every possible instance of a dimension? That meaning everything that could happen has and nothing that never happens won't. In the higher dimensions slope or points of a shape shares what is called real estate in the 4th dimension it is equal to 1, but as you reach higher dimensions it acquires more and more real estate until it eventually is bigger than the sum of its self; I'd think that eventually after so many dimensions it can create every instance of everything happening at once creating a multiverse inside a multiverse infinitely, Thus it's relative self closest to the start of it's radius would be the big bang the infinitely densest point of its self creating time in which all things move as space expands, or maybe i'm just fucking acoustic and none of this is worth speculating.

firstly, if there were infinite universes and and if it were possible to visit, you would literally have infinite people teleporting through every second. there would be infinites people poops cause as long there is a chance of it happening, an infinite amount of people will get the idea to shit through to a nother universe

second if there were other multiverses then its impossible to travel between them because no matter small the chance there is a certain chance you would meet someone who did it cause infinity

That leaves only that there are a limited number of universes or no universes at all apart from hours. personally i think multiverse theory is just a meme used for cartoons but you can choose to live in fantasy if you choose to
>>
>>9107364
I guess you're right in a way but I could argue this is a universe where no one has traveled through universes, meaning that since it never happened it never will, but like i said it's all speculation and I don't put much faith in it it's just fun to think about and get other people's answer no matter how 'literally' shit it is.

If the speed of light is the fastest unit of speed, how are some stars and galaxy's etc moving away from us faster than the speed of light so that we will never see them?

Or maybe every thing this applies to is moving in an oppersite direction to us so it works out they arnt moving faster than light but we are just seperating faster than the speed of light can travel

Im confusing myself already someone please enlighten me

They are not "moving" in this sense. The point in space that they occupy is dialating on a dimensional level.
>>
>>9107035
are you saying every thing in space we cant see because of the distance is growing faster than the speed on light sits on the sort of edge of the universe and this wouldnt be possibile if they were in the middle of the galaxy so to speak?

Is this what makes the observable univserse?
>>
>>9107041

No, he's saying that inflation is not acceleration, two dots on the surface of a balloon don't "accelerate" away from one another when you blow the balloon up, it is the space in between that is simply growing.

Define mass you fucking faggots.

Oh, what's that? You can't even explain what it is that gives matter this property?

Why is humanity such a brainlet species?

Mass is the measure of a physical bodies resistance to acceleration when force is applied.

I can't find an answer for this anywhere on Google!
I found this magnetic bar at work, and when I put a neodymium magnet up to it, it repels like a regular magnet. But when I force the two similar poles together and it gets close, it no longer repels and they stick together. What is going on?

Since Newton, we've accepted that invisible forces are at play in the world. They're wholly predictable forces, though, who you can mostly rely on. QM being a bit of an exception, with things falling into probability distributions, rather than deterministic motion and behavior.

With magnets, though, we just have to accept that things in the universe act a certain way, and do every single time. We can give some reasons, but ultimately, invisible forces are at play.
