Is there a name for the phenomenon of linking two irrelevant traits together with one always being the motive? Particularly for a crime such as "This person robbed a store, and he's black, therefor he robbed the story because he's black." Well, I'm a huge fraud.
Physics PhD student here, and I can't answer a simple question asked by an undergrad about the double slit experiment.
What exactly is going on with how the beam particles interact with the slit? Are they interacting with the particles that make up the screen? How do the particles that make up the screen respond to interacting with the incoming particles?

New research suggests that it is possible to create a new form of light by binding light to a single electron, combining the properties of both.
According to the scientists behind the study, from Imperial College London, the coupled light and electron would have properties that could lead to circuits that work with packages of light - photons - instead of electrons.
