You and your memycist.

That's not Max Tegmark.
Can we have a Based Neil thread? Has one man ever contributed so much to science?
I don't understand why /sci/ is so against him. He's black. It's not fair to expect intelligence from him.
>>8304077
Femanon, I actually laughed out loud at that post. I mean I get what Neil is saying, and maybe it's a symptom of some problematic attitude toward women in science, but it really is just a joke
>>8304288
no one gives a fuck that you have a pussy unless you're here to show it. and seeing that /sci/ is a SFW board, you can't. so stop calling for attention.
Will living forever be attainable in our lifetime? Will Biology be the future "engieneer" degree?

Thats what I'm hoping for anon.
Imma study the shit out of bio in uni. Gotta make Monsume real man.

Not joking this actually happened.

Who /fuckedup/ here?
Thats not really fucked up. Fucked up would be having an accidental child or felony, you're literally fine.

Me big time. But got my GED at 16 and had 2 years at a community college before getting addicted to heroin. Off heroin now but 26 years old on methadone and homeless with no family or friends to help me. My cellphone is everything to me, I make sure my bill is paid every month. I'm clean now and I want things to be better but I can never find the time or strength to pull myself out of this. I can't imagine trying to work while in this condition and the homeless shelters here in Denver are horrible. I want my mommy. Straight up I want my mommy.

I really regret wasting three years of college in depression over some chick. Trying my best to make up.

Everyone has herpes too.
What matters is how active it is, and thus the symptoms it creates. In most of all the cases of each no symptoms will ever surface.
So how butthurt will everyone be once China starts using CRISPR to breed super geniuses and proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that intelligence is 100% genetic and heritable? Will all of the "any one can be a world class mathematician and contribute bro, you just have to work 16 hours a day" brainlets start committing suicide en masse?
yup

I don't think you have any idea how CRISPR works if you think we're anywhere close to using it on dozens of genes in one human zygote, because that's what we'd need to do to create legit super-geniuses.
>grow up wanting to be an artist
>love art, win multiple competitions
>senior year of high school approaches
>I know I'm forced to go into stem if I want to live
>feels real bad man
Anybody else forced into stem? The worst part is that I'm going to a top 10, which also happens to be high ranked in art.
I guess chemical engineering is neat... Right guys?
>>8303462
You become an artist by creating stuff you like. If you need to go to school to learn 'how to art' you're a fucking moron and deserve to spend your life in poverty.
>>8303462
>forced to go into STEM
By who? Fuck this autism is beyond comprehension.
By the way, without natural talent in STEM you won't ever pass your freshman year so just transfer to your liberal arts professional starbucks cashier degree.
>>8303469
Wtf are you talking about
>natural talent in stem
Stfu with this elitism. I got my stem degree with no "natural talent", just study and work ethics
How many times a week should we shower?
Also, how many times should we shampoo?
>>8302828
Showering is overrated unless you really need a full body clean for whatever reason. It's simply wasteful and can actually damage your skin. It's much better to target body parts as needed, ass, pits, crotch and teeth are notorious for needing daily cleanings to prevent smell. Treat hair as you would any other body part, if you find it gross then clean it.

Theres no real answer. If you are dirty, wash
So I'm a huge idiot and having just finished Obduction it made me realize I know nothing about number systems in bases other than 10.
Could somebody explain to me how other number bases work and why they exist?
I know that binary is used for computing but why?
What is the point of say base 4 or base 60 (which I am told inspired the 60 seconds to one hour and 60 minutes to one hour system we use?)
Remember I am a moron so explain it me as such.
>>8302801
binary is used in computing because it's the only possible way to do computing
>this gate is off
>this gate is on
That's as complicated as you can actually get with circuitry, although ternary (base 3) computers have been proposed
>why do other number bases exist
that's like asking why different colors exist. they just do, and each one has its own way of being defined.
>>8302801
In base 9 you count to ten then move to a new digit
0-9
10-9
20-9
Etc...
Is the same thing with other bases.
Binary is
0
1
Instead of a 2, you add a new digit
01
11
001
011
111 etc...
For other bases, it's the same.
Computers use logic. True/false statements are physically generated using circuits, so binary is natural.
Bases are also useful for modular arithmetic, which is what you have with a clock, and used in encryption.
You can add/subtract multiply/divide etc.. in different bases too.
There's many more examples, but that's a start.
>>8302815
>0-9
>10-9
>20-9
>base 9

Picture related, it's called the "solar express"
A concept on a train that would hurtle through space nonstop. Never decelerating at all. Using various small ion thrusters and the gravity of large celestial objects to adjust or change course.

>>8302577
it doesnt stop, so it never needs brakes thats the idea. It would meet up with smaller vessels to pick up and drop off.
>>8302560
Why, specifically, do you think it wouldn't work?
How much energy would be needed to compress a cubic meter of water into a black hole?
>>8299820
What is the minimum mass of a black hole?
>>8299820
About as much energy your mom is storing.
>>8299840
My mom is about a cubic litre of ash.
