I'm done with it all and want to end it.
I'm known to like to drink, and I get blackout drunk from time to time.
I want to die this way and make it look like an accident.
How can I pull this off?
No driving accidents or other things that would endanger others.

>I want to die this way and make it look like an accident.
it won't matter to you after you're dead senpai.
>>8301895
I want my family and friends to think it was an accident. I don't want them to think it was suicide.

Our team has designed an IQ app in the hopes of measuring IQ fairly accurately in a casual setting. Essentially, we want to know if our app can truly measure IQ to any reasonable degree of accuracy. So, I would like to ask the members of this subreddit who have had their IQs tested formally to take our test and report back, telling us whether or not their score on the app corresponds to their score as tested formally. If not, how much were we off?
Apologies if my English is poor, it is a second language. However, the test within our app is entirely nonverbal, so language shouldn't be a problem.
The app is titled IQ Pro on the Apple App Store, and the developer will be listed as Dmitriy Yudin.
TIA!

How can i change my perspective to see each individual as unique and valuable?
I feel that i only value intelligence and i can't see someone being worth it or capable of producing something unique if he isn't highly intelligent.
Also i feel sad thinking that intelligence is needed to really appreciate beauty and have individuality.
People just seem bland i can't find pleasure in life anymore.
Please, help me change;
“If you can think of times in your life that you’ve treated people with extraordinary decency and love, and pure uninterested concern, just because they were valuable as human beings. The ability to do that with ourselves. To treat ourselves the way we would treat a really good, precious friend. Or a tiny child of ours that we absolutely loved more than life itself. And I think it’s probably possible to achieve that. I think part of the job we’re here for is to learn how to do it”
― David Foster Wallace
DFW makes me want to change so much. I don't want to be miserable.
I feel like this is one of those things that comes 'naturally' with age to most people.
LSD, I am completely serious and this is the best answer I can give.
All men have intelligence, even the most functionally retarded.
We need to distinguish between two senses of the word intelligence.
The first is the possession of an intellect, and an intellect is a faculty by which we abstract universal concepts from our senses, e.g. we abstract the universal idea or concept "chair" from this particular wooden thing which our eyes see or our ass feels. This is what the Greeks called the nous, the Latins called the intellectus. This is the essence of intelligence, this is what it means to be intelligent.
Then there is the quantitative notion of intelligence, where we describe someone as being more or less intelligent than other. This is derived from the fact that some people are capable of abstracting and understanding concepts more quickly than others.
Now, what you have to understand is that the mere fact of having an intellect/intelligence is what gives all human beings their inherent worth. It's this ability to abstract concepts from our senses which makes us capable of having thoughts and expressing them in language. More than that, it's what distinguishes us from the non-intelligent animals. The animals have the senses but they do not have the intellect which is capable of abstracting concepts from the senses, which means that they have no concept of self or concept of existence, which means ultimately that they have no real self-identity or awareness of their own existence.
Can you help me complete the table or suggest replacements for the already chosen books?

>he says math instead of maths
do you also say phy instead of phys? fucking americans.
Like a polymath, sage in every field
>>8301637
Though you may do well in math class, clearly you will never pass English.
>>8301637
>phy instead of phys
You screwed up that analogy. The 'phys', if anyone ever used that as a name for physics, would clearly have an 's' corresponding to the first 's' in physics, not the second 's'.
Is it truly ethical as a society to allow people with genetic diseases like MS, muscular distrophy, or Huntington's disease(an autosomal dominant disorder) to reproduce? Sure, you can argue it's unethical not to let them in terms of individual rights, but what about the child they will produce and the rest of society( people they can marry). It's seems slightly more irresponsible for the individual to do such a thing.
>inb4 muh eugenics accusation
>>8301633
All natural DNA is trash full of shit, even somebody tall, good looking, intelligent, etc traits considered to be 'good genes' will still be fill of complete dogshit, we need to manipulate it and create a race of super humans
>>8301633
>Is it truly ethical
Get out.
Also who cares? It's happening regardless of peoples opinions. Something like 90%+ of babies with congenital defects, especially down syndrome, are aborted by the mother.
>>8301633
Would it be ethical to stop them given there's only a chance of passing on those diseases? Especially with illnesses like MS where a genetic component is still to be identified.
ok /sci/, so i've been thinking,
i have been wondering about building as high as the athmosphere >pic related
is it at all possible? if so, why hasn't it been done?
are carbon nano tubes a suited building material?
is the volume/amount of building material the problem?
is the height/pressure on the lower parts the problem?
Especially something like 2nd though would be great for space observation and even getting rid of space debris, right? debris in orbit (or atleast quite a bit of it) would hit the walls of that thing and slow down and falldown/burn up.
is it at all possible though?
>>8301600
Its not possible with current materials
>>8301600
>Is it at all possible.
Yeah.
>Why hasn't it been done?
We don't have material tough enough yet.
>Are CNTs suitable building material.
Not on their own.
>Is amount of building material a problem?
It is with every construction project.
>Is the atmosphere a problem?
Yes, space elevators would be significantly easier on planets with little to no atmosphere.
Space elevators are perfectly plausible, just very difficult. I would be shocked if humanity started construction on one within our lifetime.
>>8301999
This isnt even close to being a space elevator

If you actually read the article its taking about teacher-pupil relationship, not genetic relationship. Most mathematicians were taught by mathematicians. What a shocker.
Guys I'm really scared. So if part of it breaks off and hits Mars causing a 10.2 impact, the remainder will hit earth with an 8.3 impact?
Assuming the worst, how much time do we have between its Martian pass and its earth impact???
Also please, for the love of God, since it's predicted to hit the Mozambique Channel, where's the best place for someone living in the Great Lakes region of the US to go?
I'm not staying here because the ocean displacement will hit the Great Lakes as well, so I was thinking Colorado.

Shit threads, every fucking time. Phone posters should be banned.
>>8301213
The Mozambique Channels Epicenter.
Going away from the blast is exactly what it wants you to do OP.
>>8301218
Not him, but as a phoneposter, I can tell you this is impossible. Dynamic IP when posting from a cell connection.
Every so often, I catch a ban meant for someone else, for a post I didn't make. Wait a few minutes, and I can post again because my IP's changed.
So I may well have been banned at some point and not even realized it.
What's scary, and makes this worth pointing out, is that if IPs can't be reliable user identification for private web sites like this, then 4chan is either going to have to start using user accounts, or accept that they have no way to enforce any rules... Which will probably result in a cp postathon, which will get 4chan shut down by the feds.
Either way, the end is nigh for anonymity here, I think,

It's a meme.
So at the beginning of this year, the FBI released a load of documents confirming the existance of ETs interacting with the human race, but no one cares.
Why is that /sci/?
This is imperical evidence, and yet the media will not touch it with a barge pole - even after the claims were made official by the FBI.
https://vault.fbi.gov/UFO/UFO%20Part%201%20of%2016/view
>>8301189
because of all the people trying to make a quick buck by talking about being abducted by aliens combined with all the retards on /x/ who believe them, talking about aliens in a serious manner is next to impossible.
> confirming the existence of ET's interacting with humans
No, they do not prove anything of the sort. This is just some letter written by some guy. It's not even classified.
And this was released before 2012.

This is not what holds it back. If there were zero frauds and zero nut cases, mainstream scientists still would not risk all future income to go down this path. The crazies are the only ones who can do this, so it's good we have them. Eventually we will break free of this era of political correctness and SJWs and people will be allowed to have a discussion about anything, and arrive at the conclusion, "there is something here" or "there is nothing here", without being shouted down and shamed for even bringing the topic up.
Why are scientists wasting time trying to figure out shit about the birth of the universe?
Would the world be a better place if they focused on the future?
>>8301127
They are called "grant chasers". They are worthless people who don't contribute to society, but have figured out how to bullshit other people into paying them for what is essentially a NEET existence.

Don't you mean "theoretical" bullshit?

To know the end one must know the beginning.
Hi /sci/
Posted this on /adv/, got no responses, so here goes.
Curry Niger here, in the last year of undergrad programme in microbiology. Currently in an avg semirural college, in a country with a terrible education system. Meh grades, due to archaic and stupid grading/exam system. I got great LoRs though; all professors (except one) got only great things to say about me. (No surprises there, most of my batchmates are dumbfucks.
Really, really love Micro, wanna continue in immunology or microbial ecology or genetics (just because CRISPR fascinates me); especially love lab/research work.
The problem is, good unis in my country only accept students with unnaturally good grades.
So, I decided to study abroad, but then I realized that I'm poor AF.
>fucked up by not being born in a first world country
>life sucks and probably will remain so till I die.
What do I do, /sci/?
>>8301114
American here
Do what you want, just stay out of my country
Also, someone on /pol/ told me India is going to be a superpower by 2020,so maybe just wait a bit
>>8301122
Don't listen to this retard. If you are qualified enough to get into one of our Microbio unis you have every right to come here. I know the uni I go to, university of Pittsburgh, has a good ranking, university of Washington is good too. You should take the GRE and possibly a GRE subject test as well.
