Let's talk about Wi-Fi and cellular phones.
I posted these three posts a few hours ago.

It's very clear that microwaves non-thermally interact with cellular machinery via voltage gated calcium channels, and that this spurs negative downstream effects. When do you think this is going to explode and force mainstream science, and thus the public, to get on board and slowly slip out of delusion and denial?

Hello,

About one month ago I hit my head between my eyebrows, went to the ER and got a CT scan a few days later and they didn't detect anything abnormal.

Now, when I play my electric guitar(bending my head down and turning it a bit to the left to see what I'm doing on the guitar, typical behavior that I've always done like pic related) I'll start to get a bit nauseous, my eyes will start to have... artifacts? I can't explain. Light starts to act a bit weird. I'm not seeing stars or blacking out or anything, but everything looks a bit fuzzy or something and focusing my eyes becomes a bit harder. My hearing in my right ear will suddenly go partially away and I'll have tinnitus, and my balance feels a bit wonky. It takes like 30 minutes to really go away. When I lay down/go to sleep, I feel perfectly fine and nothing like this happens. It's really only when I bend my head down and to the left to play the guitar.

What in the hell is this? I feel like my speech slurs a bit more than it typically does, too. I know that when you listen to loud music, you'll get tinnitus/nauseous, but I'm not playing loudly at all. This has NEVER happened before. I don't even want to play the guitar because it just comes back. This has just started happening within the past few days. I've gone like 4 weeks after hitting my head without any issues like this, at least I don't think. How can I still have complications from hitting my head over one month ago, especially when after a head CT scan, they didn't find anything that looked abnormal? I just want to feel normal again, man.

So, I just went to play the guitar again and literally nothing happened this time, nothing at all. What the fuck is the problem? Now, I feel fucking amazing. I feel like euphoric or some shit. There has to be something fucky going on here. I feel very good right now when I was just feeling like shit.

Hello /sci/
I have a questions about magnets, how do they behave if you have situation like in the picture.

How much force be on the magnet or object, and how far into the coil would it move?

I did not think about the direction the current would go, but im thinking that it will go in the direction so that it attracts the magnet

Why is there no huge focus on making a smart, strong, nible, android? Why is there no robot race with that being the moon walk? Robots that do specific tasks are nice and all but would it not be better to have one robot that can do just any task a human can do but better without getting tired or bored? An android would make an ideal astronaut.

Because it's useless?
Why would you make such a general-purpose yet restricted machine without any clear goal or purpose? There is literally no point in a humanoid robot that doesn't have a specific purpose(s). You make machines for actual reasons, not because sci-fi tells you, you need them and because you think they would be quaint.

How do you prevent/reverse becoming "stupid"?

I'm 23 and dropped out of full time education around a year ago. I find I'm not as sharp as I used to be, say, 5 years ago - this is all a bit hand wavy but bear with me.

I look at maths or science articles related to concepts I at one point was studying and feel like I've never seen them before. This is to be expected - I'm a programmer by day and don't keep most of those concepts "fresh" in my head. But I also find myself struggling to learn new concepts or construct coherent sentences when discussing anything moderately complex, e.g. political topics. I'm particularly concerned about my verbal ability, as even writing out this post took more effort than I would have thought in terms of editing/searching for the 'right' word

I'm not sure what the causes are for this or how much control I have. Big changes I have made since I last felt "sharp":
> stopped doing high intensity exercise
> aged a bit
> let programming and reading about tech minutiae devour almost all my free time. (I even stopped playing games)
> addicted to reading feeds for the rest of whatever free time I have (reddit, 4chan, facebook, news, etc...)

Changes I am going to make
> start doing an 'optimal' amount of exercise (http://lesswrong.com/lw/juc/optimal_exercise/ - I've read (can't cite, it's just in my brain) that your brain "functions better" if you exercise regularly and generally maintain good health, and I'm inclined to believe it
> start writing every day - to maintain verbal intelligence. Even if it's just to myself jotting down thoughts on the daily happenings of the universe.
> read an article a day in a different language (I know a bit of spanish and german, will obviously do it assisted with google translate but will try and parse the sentence structure/tense/semantics myself)

Please tell me I am not alone in this struggle? Any other tips for staying sharp in a broad rather than narrow sense?

I notice the less time i spend on reddit/4chan the easier it is for me to read my textbooks. There is something about reading neverending feeds which just drains the brains attention span. Its like scrolling downwards into a deep hole with walls covered with inane useless bits of commentary and trivia.

I think because there is no logical connection between posts, and often comments, the brain does not need to retain long term concepts and instead gets used to only skimming over new concepts in the shallowest possible way then moving on.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2016/09/01/like-its-been-nuked-millions-of-bees-dead-after-south-carolina-sprays-for-zika-mosquitoes/

"Reports out of South Carolina have indicated that when officials approved the spraying of local farmlands with insecticide to prevent the spread of Zika-carrying mosquitos, it accidentally wiped out millions of bees too.

The insecticide in question, called Naled, is known to be "highly toxic" to bees, and these vital pollinators appear to be the latest collateral damage in the fight against Zika.

In response to the ensuing outcry from local farmers after last Sunday’s bout of aerial spraying in Dorchester County, the local administrator’s office announced that the state health department had reported four travel-related cases of Zika virus in the Summerville area of Dorchester County on Friday 26 August.

While the health department reported that no one has been infected from a local mosquito bite to date, Dorchester County officials justified the accidental bee cull on the grounds that the mosquito population remained a threat."

Was this action justifiable?

Humans ruin everything. The bees are already an endagered species and now they pour salt into the wound by fighting a virus thats also man made. Poor bees.

Is there a reasonable possibility that all the dozens of different dating methods give the same faulty results?

The tree rings just happen to match up with C-14 age and with yearly sediment layers and with ice core layers and whatnot. And all those dozens of radiometric results give same results with each other and with thermoluminence and magnetic dating and racemization and so on...

To continue, we need tools to examine the projective plane we work with, like circles in ancient Greek geometry. We introduce the most fundamental of those tools here, but before we define it, we need a few definitions.

The set of all points incident to a given line is the [math]\textbf{range}[/math] of that line.

The set of all lines incident to a given point is the [math]\textbf{pencil}[/math] of that line.

In a projective plane, let ranges and pencils be [math]\textbf{incidence sets}[/math].

The incidence sets of the point p and line L can be written as In(,L) and In(p,) respectively.

Before we explicitly define this tool, we demonstrate it with the proof of the following theorem:

Theorem 2.1: Any two distinct ranges from the same plane have the same cardinality.

Proof: We observe that every line has a unique range and vice versa, thus the two resultant lines, which we call A and B, are also distinct. By Axiom 5*, we have a point o not incident to either A or B. Now, consider the following function.

[eqn]\begin{align*}
Pe : In(,\textup{A}) &\to In(,\textup{B})\\
\textup{a} &\mapsto \textup{B[oa]}.
\end{align*}[/eqn]

The construction of the points B[o?] for points on A is shown in the pic.

If d and e are any distinct points on A, then the lines od and oe are distinct lines which meet at o. Since o does not lie on B, then by Axiom 1, the points B[od] and B[oe] are distinct. Since d and e were arbitrary, then Pe is injective.

Now take an arbitrary point x on B. Let z = A[ox]. The point z exists and lies on A, so Pe(z) exists. {z, o, x} is collinear and x lies on B, so Pe(z) = B[oz] = x, thus Pe is surjective.

Since Pe is surjective and injective, it is a bijection between In(,A) and In(,B), thus they have the same cardinality. #

The function used in the proof above is the tool we seek, which we will formally define in the next large post.

A [math]\textbf{perspectivity}[/math] from line L to a distinct line M with [math]\textbf{centre}[/math] c not incident to L or M is the function that, for any point x on L, returns the point M[ox].

A [math]\textbf{perspectivity}[/math] from point p to a distinct point q with [math]\textbf{axis}[/math] C not incident to p or q is the function that, for any point X on p, returns the point q[AX].

A [math]\textbf{projectivity}[/math] is a finite composition of perspectivities.

A [math]\textbf{half-perspectivity}[/math] from line L to a non-incident point p is the function that, for any point x on L, returns the line xp. The half-perspectivity from point p to a non-incident line L is the inverse of the function above.

A [math]\textbf{half-projectivity}[/math] is a composition of an odd number of half-perspectivities.

Given two ordered n-tuples of objects from a single incidence set each (X_1, ... , X_n) and (y_1, ... , y_n), we say these tuples are [math]\textbf{projectvely related}[/math] if there is some (half)-projectivity Pr such that Pr(X_k) = y_k for all k such that [math]1\leq k\leq n[/math].

Since we will use (half-) perspectivities and projectivities so often, we need a lot of new notation. We use two notations for (half-) perspectivities and projectivities. The two systems describe the perspectivity from L to M with centre p as follows:

L>p<M

[eqn]L\stackrel{p}{\barwedge}M[/eqn]

The perspectivity from p to q with axis L is noted as follows:

p<L>q

[eqn]p\stackrel{L}{\barwedge}q[/eqn]

Projectivities can be notated by concatenating perspectivities.

p<N>q<L>r

[eqn]A\stackrel{x}{\barwedge}B\stackrel{y}{\barwedge}C\stackrel{z}{\barwedge}D[/eqn]

The LaTeX-based notation does not deal well with half-perspectivities and half-projectivities, but the text-based notation does.

p<L

X>a<Y>b

The next post will contain some more notation, and some examples.
