Is science ultimately evil?

What is the definition of "science"?
What is the definition of "ultimately"?
What is the definition of "evil"?

It really changes the answer to the original question depending on those definitions.

Answering the question without your definitions, I will say humans have been using "science" to kill each other for a long time. However, most scientific progress doesn't lead to increasingly more exotic ways to kill your fellow man. In reality, that's the case sometimes. Sometimes science is used to create technology to kill other humans more effectively than before. I don't think the desire to kill each other more effectively is human nature; I think human nature just tends to more effective processes in general. Killing each other is one of these processes. Therefore, I don't think science is ultimately evil.
>>
Define "evil".

Furthermore, define the objective set of morals considered "good".

Now, provide evidence that studying the natural and physical world through rigorous and repeated testing and observation is, as a whole, working against "good" (defined earlier), or in a way that is consistent with "evil" (also defined earlier).

I seek the guidance of a physicist.

Back in high school, i did something magical.

It was gym class and we were playing baseball.

The pitcher threw the ball to me underhanded, and i swung as hard as i could. I hit the ball (with an aluminium bat), but instead of a clang, it made a very quiet fwoosh sound, like blowing into a tube. The ball flew really far and high, over the school.

Everyone was amazed and confounded as to what happened.

Can a physics person tell me what happened? Every other hit except mine that one time was the typical clang. Why did that one hit make virtually no sound, how is it possible?

>>
You hit the sweet spot, when you hit the ball the bat had a modal Faraday resonance and negative quantum state.

Monitoring, but a physicist wouldn't be able to help you.
They can't handle anything with more than two particles; they couldn't handle something as complicated as a baseball bat
>>
All the kinetic energy was transferred to the ball rather than it being expended/lost in the form of sound

Doing some pre calc can anyone explain a function that has a domain of all real numbers, but a range of integers and why? Pic related is closest I could come up with

[math]f(x)=ceil(x)[/math]
>>
What do you mean explain? Explain what that is? It means a function that you can input any real number and any answer you get out will be an integer. Example:

f(x) = 0^x

0 to any power is 1, 1 is an integer. Domain is all real numbers, range is 1.

Does infiniity exist because of entropy?

Would it take more energy than exists in the universe to calculate Pi to it's final decimal place?

What would happen if we knew Pi to 10^200 decimal places?

>>

>Does infiniity exist because of entropy?

It actually exists because of quantum consciousness. Before you collapse the wave function, all possibilities exist simultaneously, and this idea would be logically incoherent without the idea of infinity.

>Would it take more energy than exists in the universe to calculate Pi to it's final decimal place?

Not with a quantum computer. Due to the uncertainty principle they require no energy at all to perform their calculations.

But i wonder... if pi is infinite, then every mathematical equation ever made should be present in pi.

What if we based our quantum computers on pi, and gained an infinity of information?

We could make our quantum computers on pi, and then use them to find more decimal places of pi, making them stronger.

I wonder if the quantum computers could develop consciousness though and then it might be bad.

>In this study, we carried out a reliable measurement of the mutually noncoherent pulses and their subsequent analysis as the most probable acoustic signals of the hypothetic spoken language of dolphins.

>As this language exhibits all the design features present in the human spoken language, this indicates a high level of intelligence and consciousness in dolphins, and their language can be ostensibly considered a highly developed spoken language, akin to the human language. This claim is supported by the fact that dolphins have possessed brains that are somewhat larger and more complex than human ones for more than 25 million years [49]. Due to this, for further research in this direction, humans must take the first step to establish relationships with the first intelligent inhabitants of the planet Earth by creating devices capable of overcoming the barriers that stand in the way of using languages and in the way of communications between dolphins and people.

>The results obtained in this study suggest the existence of a similar highly developed spoken language in toothed whales (Odontoceti), based on the similarity of their acoustic signals and morphology. However, the problems of studying acoustic signals of dolphins and toothed whales considered in the study undoubtedly present an interesting field for further research.

Nope, believe in the soul.

Humans break laws of nature and physics to do something called "freedom".

There is no way the brain obeys the laws of physics and is predictable. Look, think of the average person you know, do you think they are just a chain reaction of physical interactions and not something spiritual and special?

when humans eventually send an autonomous underwater vehicle to explore the ocean of Europa, will we potentially be seeding the planet with life from the small amounts of bacteria attached to the vehicle?

I know NASA takes great care in sterilizing spacecrafts and vehicles but this is never 100% effective. The bacteria that are transported to Europa may evolve into multi-cellular organisms (and higher lifeforms) over hundreds of millions of years.

this is assuming the oceans of Europa currently do not hold life.

>>
Well we don't know if europa's form life had even cells. Maybe they would be so different that bacterias wouldn't recongize it as a potential life form to take profit of.
>>
>muh planetary protection
>>
>>8340401
It'd be ideal to know what the fuck was going on on/in Europa before we mess with it.

Manifest Destiny of the galaxy is our birthright and all that, but introducing extraneous Earth bacteria could mess things up and make finding or understanding Europa life forms (if there are any, you get the point) harder.
