Does anyone here have any experienc creating their own mods for PC games?
> Yes, I posted this on /v/ too...
> I figured there has got to be some Comp. Sci. majors (or anyone else I guess) here that are into modding games so...
I was thinking of creating content for games such as Skyrim and Dark Souls 1, and uploading them onto Nexus Mods.
If anyone does have experience with this, please feel free to give up some tips on how to get started.

I have a babby's understanding of quantum physics but I have a theory/question. This has been on my mind for a long time

Could particles acting as both a wave and a particle be a way to save RAM in the universe?

Bear with me here:

>bazillion particles flying around everywhere
>need to do collision detection sometimes
>maintaining all of that precision is too expensive computationally and memorially, like the difference between storing a float vs an integer
>instead of tracking the precise locations, generalize groups of particles as a single wave traveling on a vector
>wait until the wave hits something and then make up random locations for particles like they were there the entire time

It's akin to how collision detection in video games might draw a really general polygon around a sprite, like a square, waiting for that square to hit another polygon before determining if the precise shape of the sprite has actually collided with another. No point of using more resources than necessary when it makes no difference in terms of outcome.

Again I have minimal understanding of what I'm talking about which is why I'd like to know if or how I'm dead wrong.

Is storing a probability distribution any more efficient than storing some locations?
>>
>>8395687
Sadly I have limited understand of what a probability distribution is to answer that question in a meaningful way. Would/could a probability distribution not be stored as a function? That still sounds more efficient than precise locations, but I still don't know what the fuck I'm talking about.
>>
>>8395699
Well say you're dealing with 5 electrons, 5 locations would just be five sets of coordinates, a probability distribution would be a defined value for every set coordinates in space.

is a and b > c in terms of area? or is c bigger?
14 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
If its to-scale, no, c is bigger, but since we are not given any dimensions there is no way to tell
>>
>>8395565
if each letter is the area of the square it is in, then

a + b = c

are you 5 years old?
>>
>>8395565
Area(a)+Area(b) = Area(c)
side(c) =< side(a)+side(b)

There should be some agreement between most influential ones and they should produce lectures on most subjects, in English, done right, in the best way.

They should be available online free along with some problems.

If you are interested in something you watch it on your own, for free, in a convenient time.

Isn't it ridiculous that you have to meet with other people to actually learn things? Your feelings should not be important as the science is objective.

So now, most universities copy in an inefficient way courses seen abroad. This is waste of time and scarce resources.

University, especially funded by the state, is a redundant monstrosity.

Hi /sci/.
I need the advice of doctors here.
I had an xray on my chest because lately I have been tired a lot and they found a micronodule(that's how they called it) that has around 2.5 centimeters (~1 inch).
I'll have some more check-ups done but until then I need to ask you for an opinion.
More details:
- I'm a 19 years old male.
- I sometimes smoke ( One or less cigarettes a day)
- There is only one nodule on my left lung.
- No familly history of lung problems. Grandmother did have skin cancer.
What are the risks of this nodule being cancerous?

If 1Mton of atomic bomb and nuclear bomb was detonated.

Would there be a difference between the two explosions?
And how they work?

I highly doubt it, that would be like asking I set off 1MT of c4 plastic explosive (assuming you can oxidize the entire thing at the same time) and 1MT of any other explosive as long as their set off at the same time assuming they're the same size.

So between the two explosions the only difference would be technical. "Atom" bombs are exclusively "gun" types iirc. Which means a chemical explosive will fire a fissile slug at a super critical mass of fissile material thereby setting it off.

A "nuclear" weapon will use an implosion method, in which a CE will be constructed as an explosive lens and compress a piece of (usually plutonium) and cause it to undergo fusion.

The reason "nuclear" or most commonly now Teller-Ulam designs are used is that they can be "boosted" using a primary and a secondary and so on and so forth to further compress the final stage. Also they can be really easily fit into cones which makes them perfect for putting inside re-entry vehicles and standoff missiles.

Two Stage Tell-Ulam device.

Also

>>and cause it to undergo fusion.

Plutonium will never undergo fusion

**undergo fission

Usually a really heavy isotope of Hydrogen, Helium, or Lithium.

>we show that improvements in survival with age tend to decline after age 100, and that the age at death of the world’s oldest person has not increased since the 1990s. Our results strongly suggest that the maximum lifespan of humans is fixed and subject to natural constraints.
I know this was posted in Nature, but I honestly don't see how they can immediately say that this means theres a "fixed maximum lifespan". Do they mean no matter what? Because I'm pretty sure if we cure cancer and reduce effects of aging and streamline transplants the maximum age would look so fixed.

Long story short, professor was talking about muscle fiber death from physical inactivity (coma). She said the first muscle to die is the quads for reasons unknown. I asked her if lifting weights effected muscle death rate. She basically told me to write a full page report for tomorrow (she's a passive aggressive bitch) using the school's academic article search engine. I looked for about 30 minutes and I couldn't find any articles. I tried google for another 30 minutes to no avail.

So if two exactly similar patients, except one difference being one who works out and one who doesn't, went into a coma. Which patient would experience muscle death from inactivity sooner?

Can anyone answer the question? Source is preferred. I don't even care about writing the report anymore. I feel like asking my old A&P professor since I felt like she's more knowledgeable in the subject compared to my current professor. I don't want to bother her 2 in the morning though.

I wonder how much better the education sector would get if women and others subhumans were banned from becoming teachers.
>>
>>8394958
I will never understand how most people in the medical field, usually women, are over weight. Two of my current professors are fat as hell. Why don't they apply their physiological knowledge and maintain a healthy body.

To make it worse both of them are bitches in their own way. The first one is passive aggressive as I mentioned above and the second one loves psychological games on exams. Since class started two months ago 2 people out of 34 already dropped out.
They are bad educators since they give you attitude when asking questions so it's like they don't even wanna be there and it also discourages the students from asking questions./rant
