Why the fuck do they add sodium to bottled water?
>>8457347
idk, but I'm not convinced the pic supports the idea that it was added
one would have to know how and where the water was collected and treated prior to bottling, and to have knowledge of the treatment process
>>8457347
Why the fuck does op not know how to google?
>“If you had pure water by itself, it doesn’t have any taste,” says Bob Mahler, Soil Science and Water Quality professor at the University of Idaho. “So companies that sell bottled water will put in calcium, magnesium or maybe a little bit of salt.”

Doesn't sound like it.
Why do you actually do math? What do you hope to gain from it?
>It's fun
If it's so fun why don't you do it on your free time

Everyone knows that triple integrals make women wet. You wouldn't even believe how much pussy I've gotten with my math skills, son.
because i want everyone to see what a GENIUS i am
Cause its fun and difficult enough that I can spend all my life doing it without being bored.
I'll probably be getting a dog to make up for my lack of relationships in my life.

"Artificial" intelligence or singularity or all the good memes will not be acheived with computer "science".
Biology with genetic engineering and neurology will be able to create intelligent creatures and steal the geek's spotlight
There is really no reason to think otherwise, as we aren't there yet.
>>8453420
That's retarded. There is nothing special about meat that makes it a better substrate for AI.
>>8453420
im sure even if that were to happen it would still rely heavily on computer science and math. neuroscience is becoming increasingly involved with mathematical modelling and machine learning and stuff like that
If people keep having kids inside their own racial demographic continuously, humanity will eventually split into a bunch of different species right? How long would it take from today if that were to take place?

Why is Lactose Intolerance the default position in mammals*?
Milk is the ONLY food source that exists PURELY to be a food source. Why then would it be advantageous to develop a gene that PREVENTS you from having that food source? What good is that?
Clearly in modern times, its advantageous to be able to consume milk, so why did LI evolve in the first place?
*Ability to digest lactose only evolved ~ 5-10 000 years ago in Eurasia (during agricultural era). Most humans on the planet are lactose intolerant.
It's probably to separate the offspring from their mother. Animals always go for the easiest food source available, so that gene prevents offspring from becoming complete parasites to their mother.
Everyone has the gene that codes for lactase (the enzyme that digest lactose). Everyone as a baby can drink milk from mother.
The reason why, is that humans were hunters back then. Why would you waste aminoacids and other nutritients to produce enzymes you had no use for? People were not drinking milk back then because there were no milk or domestic animals! Bigger civilizations saw it as savage to drink milk, it was viewn like drinking the urine from an animal.
The trait of not having a reduced production of lactase started in the british islands and eurasia actually. The non-romans called brits had no food and were the only ones desperate and savage enough to drink milk.
>>8458789
>Milk is the ONLY food source that exists PURELY to be a food source.
There are other reasons to use milk, but sure it's main reason is for food.
>Why then would it be advantageous to develop a gene
I don't think you understand how gene mutations and natural selection works, it's not always advantageous.
You can buy lactose-free milk, it still has all the proteins except lactose is broken down to galactose and glucose.
No one decided to just get lactose intolerant.

So recently it seems there's been a rise in the mention of certain fad/meme diets like keto, paleo, and pure veganism. Are macros really that important? Is it mainly calories? Are fats bad for you? Are there any diets that /sci/ can endorse as legitimately being the most healthful and preventative with regard to heart disease, hypertension, diabetes, and cancer? Should an individual eat at a constant deficit?
>>8458281
Read the /fit/ sticky. They really know their health diets.
cba posting sources but ill speak from both experience and being read up on this subject.
no carbs/mainly fat - really good for losing body fat fast, without being insanely hard to go through. Trans fats and such are unhealthy.
pure vegan - you'll need b12 supplements otherwise your nervous system will get damaged. seems to work pretty good
Getting all macros isnt necessary, but sure helps you with life quality overall. (exercise is rly important for that)
I think the best way to go if you wanna be all healthy is not to eat sugars, not to binge on carbs and fasting once every month or so. And dont forget exercising.
Macros aren't everything.
If your protein source doesn't contain a full range of amino acids, then it doesn't matter how much protein you eat.
If you are eating fats with a certain chain length or certain types of atomic bonds between the carbons, than it vastly changes how your body will respond to them.

Way to much fucking studying.
I have a shit teacher at a local community college who can't explain this or even provide reference material for me to better understand it.
I come within .50 everytime I answer this but I'm still marked wrong.
Could someone out there help me solve this or provide reference material? My textbook covers this is one short paragraph.
(I've sent this to WSR all I recieved was first page google hits)

I understand that theoretically light is the fastest thing in the universe. But it takes light about 3 seconds to get to the moon and back but in that time I can blink my eyes about 6 times so practically my eyelids are faster than light.
Pic unrelated.
Your eyelids go to the moon when you blink them?
