Let's say through the magic of future technology, we start mining neutronium off neutron stars for whatever reason.
And say we can keep the mined neutronium from exploding.
How much could you harvest before the neutron star tore itself apart?
outside a neutron star the neutrons would have a half life of about 15 minutes before turning into a proton, electron and a kind of neutrino, certain radioactive materials are better sources like californium 252
>>9128329
Why not use your magic future technology to preserve the neutronium on the star as well? Then you can harvest it all!
Wouldn't it un-collapse into a white dwarf if it loses enough mass?
From my understanding, a neutron star is a nova'd star that wasn't massive enough to form a singularity. And a white dwarf is similar, but it wasn't massive enough to become a neutron star.
So in the same way that a neutron star would collapse into a singularity if you added enough extra mass, would it decay into a white dwarf if you took away enough mass?
And how would that work if so, because neutronium is theorized to be almost entirely neutron based matter. Would neutronium be able to undergo fusion? If it lost enough mass, could it decay into something that could achieve fusion?
A dog and an ape are separate species because they fill different roles ecologically, can't produce fertile offspring, and are genetically dissimilar.
But some species can produce fertile offspring, and create a hybrid.
>60 ka Homo sapiens who leave Africa in this wave may have interbred with the Neanderthals they encounter
Most non black people have some Neanderthal DNA. And Neanderthals were a separate species. Why?
If ancient homo sapiens could fuck neanderthals, why would they be considered different species?
If non black people are neanderthal hybrids, why aren't they classified as separate from people who didn't interbreed with neanderthal? And why aren't Denisovan hybrids separate?
If we could breed with them just fine, why wouldn't they just be classified as different ethnicity's?
Modern Homo Sapiens ethnicity's fill a niche, why aren't they all classified as different species?
http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2014/07/140702-genetics-tibetan-denisovan-altitude-science/
according to this, Tibetans are better adapted to their climate through genes picked up in denisovan. That makes them genetically different than say, a black person living at a very low elevation. And they fill a niche.
Why are they still the same species? Interbreeding apparently isn't necessarily strict in defining a species.
To bring it to a less-racist sounding place, why are all dog breeds, Canis familiaris? Most fill a different role, are genetically dissimilar, and some can breed but others can't. Why isn't a little froo froo dog a different species than a great dane?
Assuming humans keep evolving through genetic drift or whatever, how long until an Inuit and an Aborigine are different enough to be considered separate?
If we start fucking with our genome, how different until that's considered a new species?
>>9128220
>I'm not racist, but
>Why are they still the same species? Interbreeding apparently isn't necessarily strict in defining a species.
There is no strict definition of what a species is. The boundaries are always fuzzy. Nominal boundaries are drawn based on biologists' improvisation, as all strict definitions break down in edge cases. The interbreeding thing is a good first stab at the problem and a good approximation, but it's not the end-all be-all of it.

We aren't the same species. Research on these subjects are suppressed because of all the Jewish influence.

/sci/ can I save myself after two semesters of not giving a fuck as long as I pass the classes?
How far in are you? Nail the last two years (upper level courses) and you should be lookin good. General electives wont break you either
>>9128110
>How far in are you
I start my 3rd semester this fall, I have 7 in total
>>9128169
Im guessing the first two were mostly just prereqs? If so they wont matter as much as your upper level courses where you actually learn things relevant to your field
What is the probability that a loner who engages in no social contact can just study mathematics and science all day after work, read, think, and eventually will discover something profound and important?
Do you have to actively look for unsolved problems or is there a chance that with enough autistic obsession you will find a problem nobody has even asked yet and solve it?

Why is my asshole inside out?
Payback yourself on the back if you can solve this one. Show your work

Because you're a homosex
>>9127693
It's possible. Talking with people that know their field increases the chances a lot.
Fact is that there are more problems than there are scientists. The hard part is simply looking for the set of problems that nobody else has time/skill/interest to solve, but you do.
What is the best way to kill myself that takes several hours of unconsciousness before being highly lethal, has an antidote that I can send to the person in case they want me to have it, that can be cured without a hospital? If he refuses then I'll do it again better. Illness or something is fine but prefewabky no mental retardation since I will.be abused for life if that happens and maybe not enough to research better or do work better to obtain alcohol. I am looking at EOs that are cheap (essential oils) but they are hard to research. Someone I live with won't have much way of knowing if I am unconcious. Alcohol seemed so easy but to on quick it seems not enough time for the person to shown up if he does want to save me. Also not much alcohol.left, only half of the 1.75L container. He definitely should have the chance, it is optional to save but he needs to get my stuff. This is a serious post.

Is something like chakra possible with the human body? For example can I use my life force to breath fire or open gates to make myself stronger? I know it's possible to increase your strength through adrenaline so maybe we could train ourselves to get an adrenaline rush on demand?
>>9127567
Yes but it requires decades of training and the effects are much smaller than you imagine.
Also, 4chan is for people over the age of 24. Please refrain from using this site until you are of age.

http://www.trunews.com/article/scientists-sea-ice-not-a-symptom-of-climate-change
A report published by Yale University and University of Southampton researchers last month theorizes that Arctic sea ice, or the lack thereof, is not an indicator of “climate change,” but rather a significant contributor to disruptions in an ocean current that greatly impacts weather in the Northern Hemisphere. The lead researcher, Dr. Alexey Fedorov of Yale’s Department of Geology and Geophysics, said:
>"Conventional thinking has been that if ocean circulation weakens, reducing the transport of heat from low to high latitudes, then it should lead to sea ice growth. But we have found another, overlooked, mechanism by which sea ice actively affects [Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation] on multi-decadal time scales … In our experiments we saw a potential loss of 30 percent to 50 percent of AMOC’s strength due to Arctic sea ice loss. That is a significant amount, and it would accelerate the collapse of AMOC if it were to occur."
Several of the same scientists published a report earlier this year that suggests the AMOC isn’t as stable as previously thought. And while that might sound like an opening for a new round of climate alarmism, the report instead turns everything the alarmists have declared “settled science” on its head.
The report noted the biggest contributor to changes in Earth’s climate is the current period of solar inactivity. Carbon dioxide, they concluded, has almost nothing to do with these processes. In fact, data from NASA’s Space Weather Prediction Center show the current solar cycle as about half as active as usual.
August solar activity is about half the level anticipated by historical data.

The do the odds of life on Earth specifically matter at all?
The odds of life existing somewhere in the universe is probably practically 100% and only on the planets that life exists can the life on that planet consider the odds of life existing on that planet.
The whole premise is retarded; it's basically asking "What are the odds of life existing on the planets that life exists on?"

>>9126278
Sure bud, it's in the link too.
I graphed a Normal MGF (red), Poisson MGF raised to NN (purple) and Uniform (over [0,1][0,1]) MGF raised to NN (black) here (tt on the xx-axis): https://www.desmos.com/calculator/kmgpzs3vq9
Have I done something wrong?
MGF is relevant only in the neighbourhood of 0. If the graphs converge around 0, you're good, it doesn't matter if they diverge for t -> +/- inf.
Also, U(0,1) doesn't have unit mean or variance.
