Hello /sci/, what are your ideas for free energy? I think that we should use magnets and fans to create energy.
EM-drive is my favorite, but mostly because it proves that engineers are more intelligent than scientists.
>>8527800
The concept of cold fusion is my favorite, being researched at Princeton right now. Don't know if its possible, but it would be incredible if it is.
>>8527800
modify bacteria or archaea to produce H2
When you write definite integrals do you write the lower number to the left or right of the integral sign? I'm freaking out right now.
>>8522611
The right.
>>8522611
above and under
>>8522611
You can do either, but switching the order of the limits changes the sign of the integral
Watching women's cricket at the moment (alongside watching UFC and just watched shit boxing fight) but this first time i watched womens cricket and comes to my attention they seem to be alot shitter than men. wicket keeper has dropped catches. bowler has a shit action with loopy trajectory (shit for a fast bowler) and the batsmen miss alot.
is this genetic. are women just naturally shitter than men or is this because womens sport has been historically underdeveloped and you could say men are better than women in the same way as modern day footballers or tennis player or sportsman probably play to a better standard than 30 - 40 years ago?
which is it? are women shit naturally at physical sports?
>>8530487
or you can call me out for being biased if theres good reason to.
Our national women's soccer team gets routinely drubbed when facing high school boys in friendlies
it's kind of shocking how unaware the general public is of the incredible rift between male and female athletic prowess, I'll blame the media
>>8530498
but i mean, apart from obvious strength and aerobic fitness differences, are women just shitter at like co-ordination and stuff like that?
desu professional womens football looks abit shit too compared to how fluent mens football can seem.
which nation are you? if you usa, then they best team in the world right apart from maybe germany?
math nerds, why did the project initiated by Bourbaki ultimately fail?
It didn't fail. Their book series exists.
>>8530434
But there overall project failed
>>8530438
What was their overall project besides the book series
Made this popsci math video proving why the area of a circle = pi*r^2. Give some feedback pls https://youtube.com/watch?v=rjqPvrzGm5E

What the fuck am I watching?

Full shit.
>3d world through a 2d lense
>>8529722
lenses are 3d
>>8529722
Even computer screen is three dimensional, just its expressing two dimensional space...
>>8529722
3d beings can't see the world in 3d. You have to be a 4d being to be able to do it.
Troll Science thread
If you can figure this out without using muh conservation of energy, 10 points for you!
DUDE

WEED
lmfao
whats the 5th and 6th one
is it lorentz force or some shit?
Scientists last week: Dinosaurs were giant lizards
Scientists this week: Dinosaurs were giant birds
Are scientists just making it up as they go along?
>>8528924
no, it was found by robots on a bazaar and this pic has been put up 3 times.
>>8528924
You're just too stupid to understand science apparently.
>>8528924
the history of dinosaurs is a history full of misunderstandings
Can you train your brain like you'd train your body? Does systematically exposing yourself to harder and harder mental tasks condition your mind to become sharper, just like systematically exposing yourself to harder and harder physical challenges gets your body into shape?
I know this is an old idea but I'd like to know where the current science is with this.
>>8528726
>Does systematically exposing yourself to harder and harder mental tasks condition your mind to become sharper, just like systematically exposing yourself to harder and harder physical challenges gets your body into shape?
Only if the material is within your natural capacity and you've "become dumb" by not using what you've learned or thinking for a long time.
Everybody has a ceiling where at some point, they are just too dumb for certain material. For some people, this is precal and high school chemistry. For some people, it's Abstract Algebra or Analysis. For some people, it's IUTeich.
Basically, no, you can only maintain how smart you are and only become smarter if you've allowed yourself to regress below that.
>>8528726
Yes, practically
The more you stay on the computer (like shitposting or masturbating all day) instead of reading good info on both the internet and books, the more you will get dumber and dumber
Math is practically the bodybuilding of everything, Physics is Olympic weightlifting and Chemistry is just getting into Ottermode for them girls
Philosophy is just the curlbro that wants girls but won't get them once he does something that isn't curls
Engineers are just that guy that wants to get fit for his girlfriend but won't devote himself like the Mathematician or physicist
And finally the social sciences are the cardiobunny and the Art is that retard that will tell you protein shakes are bad for your liver

1. Use CRISPR on algae to increase CO2 consumption.
2. Release new, strong alphaalgae to nature
3. Alphaalgae steals all the betaalgaes' gfs
4. ????
5. No more global warming. In fact, we can delight in our new oxygen-rich environment
It's literally that easy.
>>8528665
You will get killed tonight
>>8528665
The renewable energy industry will just find something new to bitch about oil. Like it causes cancer or autism.
>>8528665
Define "CRISPR"
Define "algae"
Define "CO2"
Define "consumption"
Define "nature"
Define "gf"
Only then will I be able to give an accurate answer.
I am a fourth year math student and somehow avoided anything to do with physics. Whats are the best intro to physics books that treats the topic with rigor and doesn't insult the reader's intelligence?
>>8528394
Take physics or you will be a moron who cannot every apply what he has learned in an actual job where people who cannot produce get fires. You are going to wind up being a nice juco math teacher after they fire you.
I am shocked you go to a school that allows a math degree with no physics.
>>8528394
landau and lifshitz mechanics

What causes the wave function in quantum mechanics? If the answer is 'it just is', then QM is pseudoscience.
>>8527569
Inadequate equipment
>>8527569
>What causes the wave function in quantum mechanics?
The ebin maymays of course
>>8527581
this.
we currently do not have the capacity to directly observe particles, but only their interference patterns due to various collisions. the result is that we have only estimations for where particles should be based on a theoretical distribution.
learn complex analysis, advanced linear algebra, probability theory, and partial differential equations if you want more mathematical background on the subject
hey /sci/.
if someone were to kill themselves through hypothermia by staying outside in the cold, what could they do to ease the pain and possibly make it go by faster? i know that drinking a lot of alcohol could help.
By slitting your wrists
>>8527519
that's not as peaceful as dying in nature
>>8527518
just get fucked and fall asleep outside. you just have to remember to actually go outside before you fall asleep.
So I'm getting into constellations and celestial navigation, do you think I could impress qt's with this? Do you have any advice?
>>8527294
Yes you can impress qt waifus by pointing out constellations on the sky while laying on the grass with her, at least that's what Hollywood says.
PS special relativity talk also works
>>8527313
Actually I want to impress one qt, because I know she's into all that Cosmos pop sci shit, I'm a southern hemisphere ape though so I celestial navigation is a bit harder
>>8527313
Why can't you be straight with him and say that he will be a virgin for life? Stop giving him false hope.
