I'd like to chime in
comp sci bachelors is easy as shit, no joke
the only classes that could cause someone trouble are the calc classes
but all the engineers take them too, and more
>>
As a CPE I take all the "hard" courses during undergrad as mentioned in the post

>os design
>kernel programming
>device drivers

Cs at an undergraduate level isn't really that difficult, and I would argue not particularly valuable on its own.

Cs people in most cases don't take math past calc 2. And they complain that 3D graphics is the hardest class ever because of all the math.

So yes, it's a baby EE degree

Tell me if this is scientifically rigorous. My personality and thought processes change according to who I am around and the environment I'm in. Is there a name for this? I'd love to study it. Perhaps someone can offer context.

I will post a few more things to explain the physics behind what I'm actually trying to do, but the problem can be boiled down to solving what's on that picture.

Thanks!

just punch it into wolfram
>>
>>8542705
I did but for some reason the answer that I get won't allow me to plug in values and obtain a real output. I think wolfram assumes that all the variables can be complex and I don't know how to tell it to calm down.

I'll post more about the actual problem. Making some figures now.

OP here,

Ok, here's the explanation of what I'm trying to do (will take a few posts).

I am using 3D seismic data (which are like echos underground) and trying to figure out how deep certain reflectors are.
>pic related

To do this, I need to know the velocities of all the rocks above the reflector I'm interested in.

"A reaction was carried out at 25°C. The activation energy for the reaction is 65 kJ mol-1. By what factor would the rate of reaction increase when the temperature is raised to 55°C?" Is this just the rule of thumb that for every 10 degrees you go up, you double the rate of reaction? Or is there a specific formula I'm missing?

I think you can use the Arrhenius eqn for this, maybe in conjunction with something else, but I'm not about to pull out Anslyn right now.

In the Arhenius equation k=Ae^(-Ea/Rt) is A a constant? How do you find A?

>>
>>8541983
>1+2+3+... = -1/12
Of course. It's because it's not technically true, it's only true that zeta(-1) = -1/12, with zeta being definite, FOR POSITIVE NUMBERS, as zeta(s) = 1 + 1/(2^s) + 1/(3^s) + ...
>>
>>8541992
then I would have chosen a prettier number, like zeta(-1) = e/pi
