The column on the left is the original sequence. The column on the right is a sequence for the differences in-between numbers. How can I find the constant in-between the numbers? Both columns should have the same result.

I know something simple like
2, 4, 6, 8 would be +2.
and that
3, 5, 9, 17, 33, would be *2-1.

However this is beyond me, other than I know it is *2-x and that x seems to double each time as well.

Dear sci, i am taking up maths mechanics at highschool, which includes content like kinematics and dynamics. I realised im not so good at this and need to get better since i want to be a mechanical engineer, so sci which way is the best way to go about this.

The radiation exposure is a time-dependent metric. You can visit the city and be fine. But I believe it's still unable to be inhabited for long-term stays.

Is there a way to clean away most of the radiation?

I want to get into machine learning engineering. Which do I pick?

Neither. You should have applied to a CS ML program. People whine and moan that ML is just applied statistics and that CS is easier than applied mathematics, but the truth of the matter is that you need some real exposure to these areas if you're going to work in it. No sane employer is going to say, 'wow, you sure can prove a lot of theorems!111 guess you'll just learn how to do everything else on my dime :^).'

What do you think of this /sci/?

https://www.minerva.kgi.edu/

It is an undergraduate program based mostly online with housing all over the world. I am almost done with my degree, but this looks like it would have been much more fun. Also it is cheaper.

Is this the future of high education or just a scammy meme? Do you think employers look down on programs like this?

It seems kind of cool but I think employers might be skeptical unless you can really show that you got something out of this program

It just seems like an online university with fancier marketing, i.e. lots of buzzwords and empty phrases. I really can't see it working out, at least not for science/engineering. I mean, just take a look at their "Natural Sciences" course catalog, it sounds like complete garbage.

Hey sci, I don't know a lot about chemistry and I've been confused about a certain reaction. I'f I have 38% hydrochloric acid and I mix in magnesium sulfate, shouldn't it make sulfuric acid and magnesium chloride? I understand that if it did produce sulfuric acid that it would be and equilibrium reaction and immediately convert back to hydrochloric acid and magnesium sulfate. However, I figured that if I did the reaction at a low temperature (lower than 3°C) then any sulfuric acid that were to form would freeze and drop out of solution. Is this possible? Why or Why not?

Here is the (assumed) balanced equation:

2HCl + MgSO4 <----> H2SO4 + MgCl2

What I'm hoping will happen:

2HCl(aq) + MgSO4(aq) ----> H2SO4(s) + MgCl2(aq)
8 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>8581242
MgCl2 should be (s) and H2SO4 should be (aq).
>>
>>8581438
So the sulfuric acid won't drop out of solution even at a low enough temperature?
>>
>>8581242
>>8581438
>>8581520
No this is a no-reaction situation.

Unless you're putting in high concentrations of epsom salt and saturated hydrochloric, all of those are too highly soluble in water to cause any precipitate to form. At lower temperatures, yes, you'll maybe get some magnesium chloride to fall out of solution, but I wouldn't call this the best reaction method.

You'd really wind up with a solution primarily containing H+, Mg2+, Cl-, and HSO4- ions.

Good attempt though. You're more likely to get sulfuric acid by bubbling a gas like SO3 through water. Either way sulfuric acid is probably one of the cheapest acids you can purchase (on par with hydrochloric) so I don't know why you'd bother making it yourself.

Hey persons,
I was wondering if it is possible to solve for k here.

[math]\displaystyle \int_k^{\infty} \frac{1}{\Gamma(x + 1)} \; dx = e[/math] is what you want, unless you're serious about having a domain [math]\displaystyle (k, \infty) \cap \mathbb{N}[/math].

>>8581152
Yes, I was wondering about naturals, probably only because of my lack of understanding.
x! for x > -1 is well-defined though, correct?
I guess this is beyond me, but now I have reading material on the gamma function.
Thank you anyway :)

How do I get into Computer Algebra? I'm a math student with some basic programming experience. What language should I use? Would C++ work?

>>
>>8581039

maxima uses lisp, which is the only god-tier language
>>
>>8581039
If you want to start on your own then C++ is okay because if it will be powerful but then that brings in the issues that C++ has.

C++ is one of the very few real programming languages that still exist. The rest have died. By that I mean that in C++ the computer does EXACTLY what you tell it to do and what you tell it not do (except for special cases and you should look for undefined behaviours for your compiler).

Why is this is an issue? Because memory. If you tell C++ to ask the operating system to give your program some memory. IT WILL DO EXACTLY THAT. And it will fucking keep that memory until you go back to it and tell it to give it back.

As someone who is kinda of C++ professional I can tell you that if you do not already master the language, don't even think about learning it as you go, specially for the project you want to do.

So my real recommendation is to get a bitch ass pussy language like Java or Python where the language is actually a cuck. Python, like a cuck, doesn't really do anything. The only thing Python actually does is call bulls (C libraries) to have sex with your program, because Python little dick is too small to actually satisfy your program's sexual needs. Then when the gangbang is over Java/Python will then come in and automatically lick off all the cum and disgusting shit your program left lying around while it was fucking all those sexy C librares, like a good little cuck.

So yeah, learn Python or Java because if not then you will be spending more time focusing on the quirks of C++ than on implementing your program.

I've watched the majority of the games played by Master(P) on Tygem and Master on FoxGo. While there were some suspicions that Master was AlphaGo, many of us thought that it had been developed in Korea. We also thought it would be crazy for DeepMind to name their bot "Master" of all things.
It's interesting to know that it was, in fact, AlphaGo this whole time. Watching it mow down the pros one-by-one has been fun, if not a little depressing. I wonder what the future holds for Go, and if we'll be able to find a way to catch up to AlphaGo someday.
